That Cowboy of Mine is a whirlwind western contemporary romance. If you don’t like your characters falling in love fast skip it. That aside, the story is fast paced and action packed with just enough steam to keep the flow moving smoothly. Rancher Dillon Young inherited her ranch from her aunt and ever since her neighbor Hank Stephens has been trying to buy it. Little things keep going wrong and the accidents seem to be sabotage. When her prize stallion is stolen, Dillon discovers a passed out cowboy by the paddock. Cal Bennett doesn’t know how he wound up on Dillon’s ranch but he knows he doesn’t steal horses. A potshot later finds Cal saving Dillon from a bullet and trying to prove his innocence to Dillon. Dillon doesn’t know who she can trust but wants to believe in Cal. Instant attraction to quickly falling in love, Cal and Dillon must uncover a horse thief and the real reason someone wants the ranch. Sweet with plenty enough heat, the pages fly by for an action packed and satisfying HEA. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from NetGalley.
I enjoyed this book very much. I liked the mystery centered around the Bar 4 ranch and Dillon Young. Dillon inherited the Bar 4 from her aunt Dolly after she suffered a heart attack and died. Her nearest neighbor offered to buy the ranch from her for almost double it's value; she refused. The Bar 4 was her refuge and home and no amount of money was going to make her sell it. Then strange things/accidents began to happen around the ranch. Was someone going to great lengths to chase her from her land. Then a stranger is found on her land; apparently trying to steal a horse? He's Cal Bennett and he awakens from a drunken stupor to find a beautiful woman with a shot gun in his face.
Thus begins this engaging; well written story. In my opinion the characters are fully developed and the story flows effortlessly taking the reader along for the ride. Head to Texas and meet Cal and Dillon and all the other players in this dramatic and intriguing story.
OH. MY. WORD!!! That Cowboy of Mine sucked me right in from page one. I literally had to make myself out this book down, it was that good!!
It's a nail-biting, page-turning, edge-of-your-seat kind of book. That Cowboy of Mine was jam packed full of adventure, suspense, intrigue and a healthy dose of romance.
Dillon and Cal, as well as all the other characters are so well developed, as was their story plot.
Thank you Ms Grant for an amazing book!!
I received this ARC for an honest review. This story is about Cal and Dillon. Cal is a bull rider and he didn’t qualify for the next rodeo. He was upset and got so drunk he didn’t remember how he got on Dillon’s ranch. Dillon was searching for her missing horse when she found Cal passed out. Cal has no memory on how he even got to the ranch because he was so inebriated.
Dillon accuses Cal of stealing her horse. Cal says there is no way he would steal. Cal decided to help Dillon find her horse, and Dillon reluctantly agreed. But things get dangerous quickly. Someone is trying to kill Dillon. Why? You need to read the book.
Even though this wasn’t my favorite by Donna Grant. It wasn’t bad.
Romance, dastardly deeds, back stabbing-it is all in this novel. There is enough tension on the pages to make your blood pressure rise. It all adds up to a story of both intense pleasure and intense pain for the characters.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Just finished this and WHO do you trust? Quite the adventure for Dillon! The man who runs ranch or the drunk you find? Good read!
This is a good story. Donna Grant adds a lot of detail in this book and that’s where it fell short for me; it became a bit tedious in my opinion. I found myself wanting to skim to get to the good parts - interactions between Dillon and Cal. To give you an idea, it takes us until chapter 9 just to get to lunch on the first day of the story, and the day finally ends at chapter 14 (36%). While it won’t make my favorite list, I think it will appeal to many romance readers.
My thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read and review That Cowboy of Mine by Donna Grant.
Another great story by Donna Grant. "That Cowboy of Mine" didn't disappoint. This book is well written and kept me engaged throughout the story. This book is a romantic cowboy suspense. I couldn't figure out who the villain was until Ms. Grant revealed him. The two main characters Dillon and Cal are great together. This book is a stand alone. I would recommend this book anyone who likes cowboy romantic suspense.

This book was a wonderful read with a well written storyline and well detailed characters that grabbed my attention from the very beginning! The interaction and chemistry between Cal and Dillon made this book a very enjoyable read!
That Cowboy of Mine by Donna Grant is a typical cowboy novel. Woman tries to run a ranch, men get upset, man comes and saves her, they fall in love, the end. Obviously there's more to the story, but all in all, I've read this one before. I found the characters to be rather one dimensional, especially the female lead, Dillon. The novel starts with her holding a gun to a cowboy's head, but within hours she's in love with him and can't keep him out of her mind, no matter how hard she fights it. Yes, he saves her life, but really? She has a history of being a strong, able woman and suddenly she can't keep her head on straight because she met a drunk cowboy? Sorry, it was a little much for me.
Thank you to the author, St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for and ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
That Cowboy of Mine by Donna Grant is one of the best cowboy/ranch romances I’ve read in a very long time. The characters were deep and developed, and at times I even felt bad for one of the villains. Each character had their own motivations and ways to get what they wanted – be it good or bad.
Dillon and Grant were an amazing pair. Dillon was stubborn and hard-headed, but willing to back down when she saw the sense of things. There is a lot of distrust of Grant on Dillon’s part, and she has every ready to do so. This sets up some really amazing story-telling. Between Grant and Dillon trying to navigate their very unusual relationship, Dillon trying to find out what happened the night he doesn’t remember, and the people trying to drive Dillon off her ranch, there’s a lot going on.
We know who the bad guys are right away – they aren’t hidden from the reader at all. And I really liked this. The short sections where we got to see into their minds and motives were fantastic, and those sections are the reason I almost felt bad for one of them. But the author still kept a few surprises up her sleeve for a very suspenseful big reveal at the end.
The romance between Dillon and Grant was an equal partner to the suspense, and I don’t know if it could have grown without it. It was a perfect mix between the two. Grant was ever the gentleman cowboy, and while he was what some might consider an alpha male trying to protect everyone, he did it all as a partner with Dillon, not as someone who felt better or more than her.

Greed is the powerful motivator that sets the stage in Donna Grant’s romantic thriller That Cowboy of Mine. As the intrigue unfolds, and the nefarious players are exposed, all the moving parts of the story become more complex and captivating. Ms Grant rules the genre when it comes to Cowboys and romance…her gift for creating unforgettable characters is unparalleled, her latest story is no different. Cal and Dillon are two such characters, along with becoming emotionally invested in the couple, there were the edge of your seat moments, when their lives appeared to be in peril, that definitely had me holding my breath in anticipation of the outcome. All very intense and page turning!

That Cowboy Of Mine is a spectacular western romance by Donna Grant. Ms. Grant has given readers a well-written book furnished with a stellar cast of characters. Cal didn't qualify to move on to the next round in the rodeo so ends up at a bar. He woke the next day with a woman pointing a gun at him accusing him of trying to steal a horse. Dillon didn't believe him, but when he saved her life she trusted him a little more. Dillon and Cal's story is packed with drama, humor, spice, action and non-stop suspense. I loved reading this book and look forward to my next book by Donna Grant. That Cowboy Of Mine is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

I very much enjoyed this book.
There's a lot of chemistry, along with a lot of doubt. This was a fast paced story filled with drama and a sprinkled with a little romance. Everything unfolds in a great cowboy climatic ending.
Cowboy suspense is a genre I never thought I'd read. But Donna Grant is such a fantastic author I would read anything she writes. What a fantastic trip of romance, action and suspense. Cal and Dillon fit together so well, their chemistry is just perfect. Book was so hard to put down, I highly recommend it.
I thought that the story would have a faster pace, but between all the various characters the story has remained as if entangled and in the end was more boring than I expected.
Pensavo che la storia avrebbe avuto un ritmo un po' piú rapido, invece tra tutti i vari personaggi la storia é rimasta come impigliata e alla fine é stato piú noioso di quanto mi aspettassi.

An awesome cowboy romantic suspense. Cal wants to help Dillion with troubles on her ranch. However, she distrusts strangers. They work well together until she finds things missing and decides Cal has to leave. The characters are wonderfully developed. The plot is well-written. If you want to find out if Cal and Dillion can work out their problem, pick up a copy.
I believe the idea behind the story was good, however, I found the graphic parts a little too overwhelming and One was almost raunchy in nature. I’ve turned past the graphic material quickly and tried to just enjoy the story. There were areas where I was bored and thought that there were too many details that were unnecessary. I feel like there could’ve been a little less “bad guy” and a little bit more and the romance department.
