I know when I pick up a Donna Grant book I'll enjoy it. That goes for paranormal or cowboy! I really enjoyed That Cowboy of Mine. It had the right mix of suspense and a rocky love story. Perfect to keep me turning pages.

Cal and Dillon are both likeable and sympathetic. Their destiny seems so obvious and yet getting to their happily ever after is anything but easy. Cal has no memory of being dumped at Dillon's. She has no idea she trusts him given his mysterious appearance in the middle of the ongoing efforts to drive her from her ranch. They build a relationship as they try to find her stolen horse and solve the mystery around her being shot at and various other bad acts against her. Their attraction and affection grow quickly and strongly. When Dillon discovers documents missing from her office though she's convinced Cal has something to do with it.

Cal is such a good guy. Dealing with the end of his rodeo career, he's only been adrift a few days but finding Dillon's ranch and the work there immediately feels right. He's a strong, stand up man who doesn't hesitate to jump in to protect Dillon. Dillon is so accomplished. Educated and with a career in the big city, the ranch always just felt right to her too. She's so surprised her aunt wills it to her but knows it's her future.

There are lots of shady characters they all have it out for Dillon. There's lots of action and suspense (which I love in my romance). This book has everything you need to keep turning pages.

Thanks to NetGalley, St. Martins Press and the author for the ARC.

I think this one is my least fav of Donna's cowboy books. I didn't like this story or characters much compared to her Heart of Texas series. Maybe the next one will be better for me.

I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Yeehaw I finally read my first Cowboy romance and too boot, it had suspenseful storyline.

Dillion has inherited her aunts ranch, but her not so nice neighbor keeps harassing her to buy it. Dillion is determined to make a go of it after leaving her big city job. One fateful day, she finds a drunken Cal passed out in one of her pastures. Waking-up to a shotgun his face, Cal has NO idea how he came to be on her ranch in this state. Pretty soon shots ring out as someone tries to kill Dillion, and a Cowboy Cal saves her life.

This novel has some interesting twists in this game to take Dillion's ranch. Hold on tight as these two lovers heat-up the pages. The Cowboy of Mine is intense, sexy and a swinging good time.

Thank you St. Martins Paperbacks for the complimentary copy.

Dillon and Cal didn't get started on the best foot, but their love story is fun and exciting with a lot of suspense as well. I really enjoyed reading That Cowboy of Mine, and highly recommend it to anyone who likes a lot of action, suspense, and intrigue as well as a great romance

That Cowboy of Mine
Rating: 5 stars
Thank you to the author/publisher for the ARC given through NetGalley for review. All opinions are my own.

In That Cowboy of Mine we find ourselves immersed in a world where the greedy will do anything to get what they want. Dillon Young has a ranch, who her neighbor has had his eye on ever since her aunt was alive. Dillon inherited this ranch in which she made it her home after living in the big city, therefore she will do anything to protect it, to the point of risking her own life.
Why the 5 stars?
This story was amazing!! I really enjoyed all the mystery and suspense that surrounded Dillon. You didn't know who to trust along with her. Though it is a romance, the mystery and suspense stood out. I usually mind when the romance aspect of the story is over shadowed, but not with this book. The author did a great job in taking us along the ride. I really liked how we follow along with Dillon in trying to uncover the hidden truths that her ranch has.
Cal is the male lead of the story and he was a great character too. You could see that he really cared for Dillon. They both admit that even if they knew each other for a short time they seemed to feel this connection towards each other.

I highly, highly recommend it!!

This Romantic Suspense/Cowboy Romance was fantastic! It had me hooked from the moment Cal woke up drunk in the pasture with Dillon's shotgun in his face. It never slowed down and I basically just kept reading until the end of the book (less than 24 hours). There is cast of characters that are the possible bad guys who are after Dillon's ranch. There's also doubt as to whether Cal is in cahoots with them or if he's really the good guy I wanted him to be.

A fantastic read for anyone who enjoys Romantic Suspense or Cowboy Romances. You get both--BONUS!

Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.

Dillon finds Cal , who passed out, on her property. When someone tries to harm her, he is there to help. She hires him to help on ranch and both of them are trying to figure it out, who wants to harm Dillon.
Storyline is nice.

Wow! Hot, steamy, romantic, mysterious....how many more adjectives can I come up with for this book? Dillon is determined to run her ranch and not sell, that's what her aunt wanted. Cal wakes up with a gun pointed in his face and doesn't have a clue how he got there. Lots of twists and turns that I certainly didn't see coming. I don't do spoilers, but I will say I love how it ended! Yet another great book from Donna Grant.

This book just didn't do anything for me. I ended up DNFing at 60%, usually only give a book 10-20 percent before DNFing a book, but I wanted to give this book a chance the premise seemed promising, but a book should definitely hook for the reader before thee halfway mark. Maybe since she has been a fantasy/paranormal writer for so long,, she just isn't made for contemporary romance.. Maybe it's just me! I just couldn't go on. Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for providing me an ARC

A big thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I actually like the fact that this is Not part of a series. This for me, was just a fun read. No need to remember past plot lines . This book has intrigue, romance, suspense and surprises around every corner. Have to say that Cal and Dillon are not having the best year. Also Cal and Dillon just seem like nice people. I was surprised at the ending, which made it even more fun!! 4 stars

I love romances with a good dose of intrigue and suspense. This book certainly has that. Add in a handsome cowboy with a well defined protective streak and a strong-willed, take-no-prisoners heroine and this book became impossible to put down. Cal and Dillion’s story is filled with instant attraction, trust issues and betrayal as well as fighting to survive. Their road to a happily ever after is certainly filled with mishaps, uncertainties and dangerous incidents that make their story memorable and captivating.

Their first meeting is awkward and under suspicious circumstances. Dillion finds Cal drunk and passed out on her land after her prize stallion has been spirited away. Cal wakes up to a shotgun in his face and a very hostile Dillion asking him questions. But before the day is over, Cal not only manages to save her life, he also secures a job on Dillion’s ranch. It doesn’t take long for him to discover that someone is determined to force Dillion to sell the ranch or die trying to keep it. Unfortunately for Cal, the prime suspect is Dillion’s neighbour and the man he thinks of as good friend and mentor. Naturally, Dillion is suspicious of Cal, but after he saves her life, she is determined to give him the benefit of doubt. The following days bring an unexpected connection between them and Dillion begins to trust the handsome and protective cowboy. Cal knows he is falling for the feisty, determined and gorgeous Dillion. Yet, the threatening incidents escalate after Cal’s arrival, leading Dillion to suspect him of being aligned with the enemy. Trust comes hard when you are under attack and fighting for your life. Who can she trust? The new cowboy who has unexpectedly stolen her heart, but admits to knowing the enemy all too well? Read this very enthralling book to find out how Dillion and Cal’s story develops. You won’t regret reading this wonderful book!

*Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Paperbacks for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.*

I devoured this book in one sitting. Usually, I don't read westerns and read this on a whim but honestly, it may just be a new favorite genre of mine. You'll meet Cal and Dillion in this book who have run into each other unexpectantly. Dillion is the owner of a ranch she inherited from her aunt while Cal is a rodeo man who gets drunk one night and ends up on her land.

Within the first 3 chapters, BAM action!! Shots fired, lives rescued and that was all it took to captivate me in this western world.

Someone is trying to kill Dillion for her land?? only who? Dillion is a strong independent woman who doesn't take any nonsense from people. I loved this character and how she stands up for herself even when facing death and betrayal. This was a nice switch from my typical thrillers even though there was some suspense it had a mixture of romance involved. My only complaint is there wasn't quite enough romance... I needed more steamy and romantic scenes! *I wouldn't mind if there was a short novel featuring the characters in the future*

Overall, I found this book to be fast-paced and would recommend it to anyone in need of a quick suspenseful western novel. I'll definitely be reading the author's other books she has. In fact, I already borrowed an audiobook from one of her series and plan on starting it before the month ends :)

Cal and Dillon meet when she finds him passed out on her land- the land she's trying to protect from someone who wants to take it for her. She inherited the Bar4 Ranch from her aunt, was thrilled to get it, and now bad things are happening, all designed to make her give up and give in to selling it. Cal doesn't know how he got there but he knows he didn't steal Dillon's horse. Despite some initial misgivings, she hires him and together they work together making the ranch a go and more importantly, finding and stopping the bad guys. It's romantic suspense with cowboys! Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Yes it's trope-y but it's also a good read.

" That Cowboy of Mine" by Donna Grant
A suspense romance at its best
Will you be able to figure out who should be wearing 'white' hats and who the 'black' hats? I was too near the end of the story before I wised up completely. Meanwhile, a good romance with 'just desserts' for all the players. Did you figure out that I really liked this story? Because I did; and I hope you will, too! Oh, and there is a smidgen of spice. Happy Reading ! !
NOTE: I received an ARC of this story from the publisher via NetGalley.

This is a great romantic suspense story. That being said the suspense wasn’t too intense so even if you aren’t a suspense fan I think you’ll like this one. There were a couple of plot twists that left me wide eyed! Cal and Dillon’s story is well worth the read. Stand alone, HEA. Another perfect Donna Grant cowboy romance.

That Cowboy of Mine is a contemporary cowboy novel with a lot of action and a slow-building romance. Someone is threatening Dillon and has stolen her prize stallion in an effort to get her to sell her ranch. She has her suspicions regarding the culprit, but no proof. Cal wakes up hung-over on Dillon's land and she speculates that he may be involved. But when shots ring out and Cal pushes Dillon out of the way, she starts to reconsider her original opinion of Cal and hires him to help on her ranch. Mutual attraction takes a backseat to Cal and Dillon's investigation and tracking of the theft of her horse. "The course of true love never did run smooth" as complications and unexpected twists arise. But all's well that ends well! A quick and enjoyable read.

If you enjoy suspenseful cowboy romance you will love That Cowboy of Mine by Donna Grant as much as I did. Strong heroine and loyal hero this is one amazing story. Animals whose lives may be in danger along with the human characters make this a riveting and compelling read. Cal is a bull rider who does not make the cut to move to the next rodeo. That is in Dillon’s favor because when they meet she needs help.

As the story progresses Dillon does not know who to trust which is how I would feel too. While the reader knows early on exactly where most of the danger is coming from and how far the ones pulling the strings will go, there are still a surprise or two that I did not see coming. Dillon was right to wonder who she should trust. Of course I kept wanting to tell her who believe but even a couple of the characters surprised me. Now I am hoping that another cowboy grill master gets his story.

Often in romance the romance out shadows the suspense in the storyline, but not this time. There is a strong chemistry between Dillion Young and Cal Bennett but the biggest focus of the story is where it should be on the mystery concerning the ranch and the threats to Dillon. Threats that become actual attempts on her life. It is convincingly just the right amount of both. That Cowboy of Mine is a fast-moving, highly suspenseful, outstanding book. Highly recommend.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book started off exciting and kept it going thru out the whole story. It had so many twists and turns. I was entertained. A good who done it mystery. The premise is simple H and H meet. Dillon is being threatened and Cal stays around to figure out who is trying to hurt her. The book went at a good clip and flowed. No lags and kept you interested before long you finish the book. However, I did think the book ending was too short. Yes, it tied up loose ends but felt it needed more. This is a new author for me and was great. I will look forward to reading other books from her.
