I really love this book. A great enemies to lovers book. Love that the family aspect on both sides are not perfect at all. Love that the main character learns that she can get help from others and at the same time stand up for herself.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for a copy of this audiobook in return for my honest review.

It took me awhile to listen to this book. The story was cute, but I just didn’t feel the chemistry. I don’t know whether if it was the narrator but the banter felt flat and forced. This was almost a DNF because of the narrator.

How to Love Your Neighbor was an interesting read because of all the interior design that was part of the story. That might be where my love of the book stops. Unfortunately, I could not connect with the characters or the storyline. I could not feel the connection between the main characters Hannah and Noah. They seemed too platonic and not romantic at all. At times their relationship was a little cringe worthy. I wanted to stop reading this book so many times but stuck with it because it was an advanced copy.

The narrator did a good job with the audio, but I was not able to make the connection at all and it fell flat for me.

A 2.5 star read for me but I bumped it up to a 3 because of the narrator.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this copy in exchange for an honest review.

I was able to read and listen to this book, and I enjoyed the HGTV vibe, grumpy/sunshine trope of the characters, and good ol’ Morty! This story was a super slow burn for me but overall it was fun & entertaining! I didn't love the narration and wished it was dual narrated.

Wholesome rom com meets hgtv. Seemed to drag a bit for me but overall I liked it! I enjoyed the characters and love a good enemies to lovers.

This is your run of the mill fake dating romance trope, meets HGTV home improvement. It was cute, but not memorable.

Adorable rom-com meets home improvement show with a touch of fake dating. What more do you want in a book??

I absolutely loved it and would read anything else by this author!

3.5⭐

What I liked:
• Enemies to lovers
• Grumpy / Sunshine
• Morty
• HGTV Vibes

What I didn't like:
• The 2 main characters 😶 Grace was alright, though she seemed very immature, but Nick was so annoying he unfortunately never grew on me!

The plot was really fun though! I just wish I had cared about the characters and their relationship more. While this book was very well written, and a fun, lighthearted read romance, it was not my favorite.

The narrator did a wonderful job and made the story very enjoyable!

Thank you Netgalley, St Martin's Press & Macmillan Audio for this audiobook in exchange for an honest review!

Sophie Sullivan takes on not one, but two tropes in her new romantic comedy, How to Love Your Neighbor. Enemies to Lovers and Falling for the Boy/Girl Next Door combine in this spirited romance to create a whole lot of sizzle and pop!

Grace Travis grew up with nothing except a neglectful mother who always put herself first, so when she inherits an adorable beach cottage from the grandparents she never met, she is surprised but overjoyed by her newfound fortune. She can't wait to put her design skills to work and make this house a home. There's only one problem ... her next door neighbor Noah Jansen.

Noah Jansen grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth. His family is famous for their business dealings, and he is finding success himself as a burgeoning real estate developer. The next property he wants to get his hands on? The abandoned-until-a-few-days-ago cottage next door to his own beachfront home. Noah always gets what he wants, but Grace, his new next door neighbor and owner of said beach cottage, is proving to be a tough nut to crack. Can he convince her to sell?

When Grace and Noah bump heads, sparks fly ... in more ways than one. It is a delight to watch these enemies turn into lovers, all while warring over shared fences, property lines, and paint colors. This novel is a great mix of romantic comedy and home renovation, making for a satisfyingly balanced read that shows what goes into designing and remodeling a dream home while also falling for your cute neighbor!

Main character Grace is a likeable young woman, who shows both softness and grit at the same time. She is determined and headstrong, but also vulnerable and compassionate. I enjoyed watching her blossom over the course of this novel, coming into her own as she creates a home that she loves. Noah is a harder pill to swallow, but he grew on me as his relationship with Grace developed. These two are adorable together, although the pace and intensity of this novel does slow down once their relationship is established, leading to some rather tedious moments. However, in all, this is an uplifting and enjoyable read.

I listened to an audiobook production of this novel narrated by Chloe Dolandis. This was my first audiobook by Dolandis, but it won't be my last! I quite enjoyed the work that she put into bringing Grace and Noah to life, and I felt like hers was the perfect voice for Grace. She embodied the character and pulled off a believable narration. Her pace and timbre were just right, enveloping me in this warm and sunny seaside read.

How to Love Your Neighbor is my first Sophie Sullivan book, and I was surprised to later learn that this book is actually set in the same world as her debut novel Ten Rules for Faking It, which focuses on Noah's brother Chris' relationship with girlfriend Everly. However, you don't need to have read that novel - I haven't - to enjoy this one, although I am sure having knowledge of the Jansen family will only increase your enjoyment of this book.

Recommended to fans of heartwarming, closed door romantic comedies.

How to Love Your Neighbor
A Novel
by Sophie Sullivan
Narrated by Chloe Dolandis

I received a digital arc of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This is Sophie Sullivans second book and while connected to her first book in that the male leads are brothers it’s not necessarily essential that you have read the other book first though it did increase my enjoyment as there were many characters present from the first book - 10 Rules for Faking it.

Our heroine is a scrappy curvy focused and determined lady. She’s working hard to reach her goals. Our hero has many natural advantages but is struggling to find his way to a feeling of home, belonging and purpose. They both have manipulative self absorbed parents (trigger warning). Our heroine has never truly had a sense of home but is looking to make one in the home she has inherited from the grandparents she never knew. Next door our hero is trying to create a home for his remaining family that he hasn’t known since he lost his grandfather. Part of his plan to create the perfect home is to buy the place next door to have room to put in a pool. Our heroine is not about to let go of her only link to the family she never knew.

Through many neighborly interactions and home remodeling adventures they find that families can be made and homes are dependent on family. Great story. Super curious about the third brother now. Excellent audiobook. 5/5

Let me start off with some positives. The characters were likeable and the author does a good job at flowing the story together. The cover is adorable and makes you want to see if the story is just as cute. That being said....
I really wanted to love this book. I was super excited when this request was granted for me to read.
Personally, I just found it hard to get into. The characters were fine but I felt like the plot really didn't go anywhere exciting. I cared enough to stick around and finish the book but I never found myself eager to keep going and find out what happens next. The romance was lacking a little bit for me as well. I wanted a little bit more *spice*, but that's just a personal preference.

What are your thoughts on this one for those who have read or listened to it?

Grace Travis is attending Design School while working various odd jobs to pay for it. She never thought she would own her own home, but when her grandparents die, they leave her their little house on the beach. Grace has plans to fix it up and live there. Unfortunately, someone else has their sights set on Grace's house. Noah Jansen is a real estate developer, who purchased the house next to Grace's. He wants to buy her house, knock it down and put in a pool. She has no plans to sell her home. They go toe to toe for awhile, but as they get to know one another, they actually begin to help one another and realize that each of them have a reason to want their houses to become their homes.

How To Love Your Neighbor is an Enemies to Lovers Romance/Chick-Lit story. I really liked Grace, right from the first page and wanted everything to work out for her. She has had a tough life, but never gave up, never expected anything to be handed to her, was creative, caring and just an overall nice person. Noah comes off as a selfish, demanding rich brat who doesn't care who he steps on to get what he wants, at least at the beginning of the story. I really enjoyed getting to know him, his background, his family issues and the reason behind his drive. Once they started working together, I really wanted them to get together. I do love a home reno show, so that aspect of the book was a lot of fun. My one complaint is that the switch in their relationship was pretty quick. It was a fun story, with some angst, a bit of family conflict, some found family, friendship and some older characters that added a bit of fun and some spice. I did a read/listen with the audiobook narrated by Chloe Dolandis. This is a new narrator for me, but one I will watch for in the future. She brought the story to life with emotion and expression. She gives the characters distinct voices that I enjoyed. especially the ones for Grace and Noah. I definitely enjoyed both formats, but the audiobook drew me into the story even more.

This is the second time I tried with this book. Last time I gave up at 25%, this time at 50% and skimmed to the end. This was just so boring and bland, I didn’t find there was any chemistry between Grace and Noah. While I can appreciate how detailed the author was on design and home elements, it was too much. I felt like this was lacking everything. I didn’t love the narrator. I don’t think this was well written, at one point the mains compare their personalities and relationship to salad dressing.,, like come on. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the free preview in exchange for an honest review.

How to Love Your Neighbor had all the makings to be one of my next favorite books....enemies to lovers with some unique twists. Grace is one of those girls you can't help but cheer for. She comes from humble beginnings and has little but she's worked hard and is finally on the cusp of realizing her dreams. She meets Noah who was literally born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He's never known true struggle in the same sense that Grace has. However, he's continually trying to prove himself in other ways. Neither understands the other person or their motivations which lends to the storyline and their ability to jump to quick judgements about each other.

I felt like the book started strong but somewhere along the way it began to move slowly for me. It could be that there was too much detailed discussion about the remodel for my taste. I'm not sure. I just know that it felt like I had to muddle through the end of the book in comparison to the first half.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to read and review it and the opinions contained within are my own.

AUDIOBOOK: The narration was good for this book. I actually believe it lent more spunk and life to the story. For me, it made the storyline more enjoyable and helped me to want to continue the book at a time when it was moving slowly for me. 4 stars.

I was totally drawn in by the cover of the book and the premise (enemies to friends to lovers? forced proximity? HOME IMPROVEMENT??? Yes please) and really did enjoy this book, however, I felt it dragging slightly in the middle, but this is just a minor complaint.

I really liked both Noah and Grace (especially Grace) and was rooting for them the whole time. This is one of the very rare instances where I think I would have preferred a slow burn right up until the end. Noah and Grace were very fast moving in their relationship and so were their friends who literally moved in together within a few weeks???? They are way too mushy lovey and honest after weeks of knowing each other, it made it a little not believable. There was also less than two minutes worth of spice and it's not graphic so if that's what you're looking for, you got it!

It was a cute read but I probably wouldn't reach for it again!

Such a cute story! I really liked the build from strangers to enemies to friends to lovers in this book. Grace and Noah have such chemistry and the Trading Spaces/HGTV vibe was so enjoyable and familiar in a good way! I would recommend this to anyone who loves a light-hearted rom-com whether in book format or on audiobook( really enjoyed the narrator)!

I’m a SUCKER for any fiction story that has a home renovation story in it. Add in a swoon-worthy neighbor, a charming best friend, and a second home renovation and I’m pretty sure this is the perfect romance for me.

I absolutely adore this book because their was no stupid break-up halfway through, just an enemies-to-lovers couple learning to communicate in their new relationship. A perfect romance for Valentine’s Day.

I really enjoyed Ten Rules for Faking It, and from the moment I read the synopsis I couldn’t wait to read this one. I can never resist an enemies-to-lovers story especially when it's also forced proximity—plus there is home renovation thrown in!

Grace inherits her grandparents’ house near the beach, and plans to do a bit of live-in renovation. Unfortunately, her next-door neighbor would like nothing more than to buy her property to extend his own backyard.

All the talk of ocean views and sunshine definitely had me daydreaming of warm evenings on the porch, and wishing I wasn’t actually gazing out at the Seattle rain and grey skies.

Grace is really good at fixing things, and super self-sufficient, so she starts showing Noah up when it comes to various renovation projects. But Noah is determined to prove to his family, and himself, that he’s capable of getting personally invested in a project and rolling up his sleeves to get things done.

I will say that while this book is marketed as enemies-to-lovers, and the main characters do have opposing goals in the beginning, there’s no point in the story where they are really enemies. In fact, they hit it off the first time they meet, and there’s always an attraction and regard there, even when they’re fighting.

There's character growth throughout the book, and Grace has experienced some pretty toxic relationships in her life, particularly with her mother so there's a lot to unpack and deal with there. Noah's relationships haven't exactly been roses either.

While this is a closed-door romance it’s not chaste—there is some definite tension and heat between these two.

This wasn't my favorite Sophie Sullivan story, but I did love the narration of the audiobook, which was performed by Chloe Dolandis. The audio is 10 hours and 35 minutes in length and I thought Chloe did an excellent job of bringing the characters off the page and breathing a little more life into them.

I really enjoyed this contemporary romance with a Fixer Upper feel, The premise of the story was fun and I liked getting Noah's story after meeting him last summer in Chris and Everly's story. My only complaint with the book is I could do without the cussing. I listened to an audio version of the story and the narration was done well. Good read.
