A thought provoking work, one that I had to purchase for my personal library and refer to often enough surprisingly. Highly recommend.
Interesting and informative. There’s prompts and rituals to help you find your magical name.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the advanced reader copy. This is my honest review.
This was a really interesting and intriguing read. I especially enjoyed all the historical information in regards to naming, as well as the different sections dedicated to inspiration, some of which also had historical meaning and background information. I read through this quite quickly due to my thirst for knowledge, but I intend to go through it again more slowly, and see if the same things resonate with me.
I am so grateful to have recieved a digital copy of this from Netgalley, but I would definitely prefer a physical copy in future, so that I could turn to it on a frequent basis.
In The Witch’s Name by Storm Faerywolf you get an in depth look at discovering your magical name. Storm herself created her magical moniker and she taps into her own experiences and also so general tips to help you figure out what magical name calls to you.
There are a variety of journal prompts and rituals to help you discover what name you are drawn to. She uses tools like astrology, numerology and mythology to help bring forth ideas and inspiration. There are a few examples of various popular names to take examples from as well that are inspired by nature, other witches and gods/goddesses.
Overall, a lovely tool for anyone on their own magical journey.
A very interesting and informative book. This was a topic that I had been curious about so I couldn't pass up the chance to read this. The organization and information provided made it easy to understand and enjoyable.
What's in a name? Shakespeare thought it was important Many witches also think it is and sometimes find it hard to pick one.that fits who they are.. This book shows how to use magic, meditation and other steps to find that perfect name. Witch names have power. Well written and needed for every witches library. I received this book from Net Galley and Llewellyn Worldwide for a honest review.
I found this book fascinating and informative. The magic name is something that is not often discusses and I was glad to learn something more about it.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
I really, really enjoyed this book! The way this book was organized (beginning with general information about the power of names, followed by name inspiration and finally, the process to create your own) made it super easy to understand and generally logical!
Very interesting book, awesome inspiration, and it will give you more awareness about this important teaching. Explanations about many themes are very lucid and fresh. But due to many topics some minor additional exploration will be needed. This could very easily be one of those "life changing books", if one is into the occult, of course.
I picked this book up on a whim and I liked it well enough. Personally, I didn’t have any practical interest in the subject of this book. I thought it had lots of fun and interesting information though. If finding a magical name/identity is something you’re interested in, this is a great book to read. The writing was easy to follow along and the way chapters and sections were structured made it a pretty easy read as well.

I wish that I had this book when I was a fledgling witch as the premise of a magical name was something that I struggled with finding. Storm Faerywolf covers the concept of magical names wonderfully in this book. The first part is about why and how to connect with your spiritual side to start your journey and it continues with giving the reader seeds for places to start looking for inspiration. Though is by no means just a checklist of various mythical, magical, and natural words. It gives you the seeds to really start your own research and really encourages you to do the digging. While also offering a guiding hand.
While this book is great for beginners, does assume that you have the very basics down like grounding and cleansing, as many of the exercises require it. So while I wouldn't consider this a witchy 101 book, it is something nice that can be grabbed alongside them.
The Witch's Name is a really in-depth book about finding a magical name. It has lots of history and information you probably would not easily find elsewhere. I found it very informative and interesting with tons of great ideas. It is definitely worth a read if you are interested in witchcraft or just curious to read more on the subject.
This is different than most books I have read and I really enjoyed it. While I have not made a decision whether to have a magical name or not, it was a great book to help guide me if/when I decide to choose one. The history and ideas in here really help guide you to find the name that is right for you, just as you answered the call to practice the way that is right for you. I recommend this book whether you are looking for a name or just some history, you’ll find it one of the best reads i awhile.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with The Witch’s Name, but it was just about everything I had hoped for. Well written and well researched, the process of finding a witchy name for yourself is explained in great detail (quite a bit more than expected), along with some rituals to assist in the renaming, and a ton of inspiration and ideas of where to get started - gods/goddesses, crystals, nature, animals, etc. Overall, I’d say it’s a clever and welcome niche type book in the realm of witchcraft.
The Witch's Name is a book about finding a magickal name for yourself and using it in your practice. I personally haven't really spent any time thinking about getting a magickal name, but when I saw this book I new I had to read it and see where it lead me. Long story short, I don't have a magickal name yet. But with the guidance of Faerywolf's endless well of ideas, I do have a list of possible names to choose from. I will have to do some more meditation on the matter before I choose one.
Overall this book had some great tips ranging from history to nature, gods to astrology and even numerology. If a witch's name is what you're looking for, you have to read this book!
Thank you to NetGalley, Llewellyn and the Author for providing this ARC!
