I knew I was going to love this book, I love all of Christine Feehan's books! Getting Elie's story was so great-because we were introduced to the start of it in Shadow Storm, and I'm really glad that he had a chance to redeem himself after acting so poorly towards Brielle!
I really enjoy this series, this world of Shadow Riders is really interesting to read. So that we're reading about main characters besides the Ferraro family is really great, because I think they've all had their books at this point, and now we can see more!
Elie agrees to an arranged marriage, because he had a chance at love, but he blew it. But when it turns out his arranged bride is the girl who he did this to, well, it was such a compelling story! I loved seeing things from both of their perspectives!
Most of this book was the romance, but there was things going on in the background, which was entertaining to read. But speaking of the romance, this is BDSM. I do hope at some point we'll have a female be the dominant, in this series, or at least one Christine Feehan book, but I enjoyed these two and their dynamics!
Loved reading this book, and I can't wait to see where this series goes from here!
Shadow Fire is action packed from beginning to end. Elie thinks he is going into an arranged marriage to fulfill his obligation as Shadow Walker. What he gets is so much more!
I love how Christine has such a sense of family, not always biological, but ones we chose. Just adds so much more emotional impact to see how they bond together to look out for each other. If that isn’t enough, she gives us karma, something I find totally satisfying.
I've really been loving the Shadow Riders series, and this inclusion in the series is no exception. Elie is an honorary member of the Ferraro family and after getting a good glimpse at him in Emmanuelle's storyline, I'm so glad Elie got his own story. Elie & Brielle agree to an arranged marriage, and while I did have to set aside the idea that neither would have any inkling into who their arranged marriage partner would be, they end up at the alter surprised to be marrying each other in this second-chance relationship. I enjoyed seeing how this relationship grew, and loved that Brielle brought her own contributions to the businesses that this circle operates in. I especially love the glimpses into Dario, and am crossing my fingers that he gets his own story soon.
In the first scene in Shadow Fire we find Emmanuelle Ferraro-Saldi , Elie Archubault, and Dario Basco having pizza together discussing the upcoming arranged marriage that Elie has contracted. All Shadow Riders who haven’t found a mate by a certain time frame are expected to marry and produce children. Years ago, Elie, in a fit of anger made derogatory comments about the lady his family has set up for him, unaware she could hear every cruel thing he said. She leaves letting him know she has no interest in him either. They are both lying. Years down the road, after multiple attempts to apologize that go unanswered, Elie finally realizes he has lost his chance at a love marriage and decides he will set up an arranged marriage to do his honorable best to make the marriage work. When Emma and Dario try to convince him the arranged marriage isn’t the best idea, he shocks them by announcing the marriage is already a done deal; they are already married by proxy
Brielle Couture, walks down the aisle on Stefano Ferrarro’s arm unaware that the man chosen for her to marry is none other than the man she had dreamed of; the man that cruelly refused her and whom she has done her best to avoid and forget.
Shadow Fire is a beautifully told story of second chances, the importance of communication, family, and friendship. The relationship between Elie and Brielle is fraught with misunderstandings. they were both brought up in totally dysfunctional families making it difficult to trust anyone. In true Feehan fashion, the Ferraro extended family shows through hysterically funny scenes that any challenges they face can be overcome with the family as backup.
I loved the interaction between Elie and Dario, both hard dominant men with an unexpected humorous side. Emme’s ability to balance their macho tendencies is a laugh riot and the Ferraro family dynamic is one that anyone would want to be a part of. The action scenes always found in Shadow Rider stories are at times brutal; keeping the story moving at a fast pace resulting in one of the best installments in this series.
Here’s hoping Dario’s story is next!
This one will be hard to find the right audience for in order to recommend. The sex scenes were really long and…extra. I like the premise of the shadow riders but I don’t think it’s a top contender in the series. I would recommend this book to someone interested reading this genre of books.
*4.5 stars*
Action-packed with all the emotions…
It is a great day when I can dive back into the Ferraro world! From the first book I was hooked – immediately taken with all the brothers and sisters and their lives, struggles and loves. The drama never stops and it certainly didn’t with Elie’s story...
Elie was part of their extended family and I loved getting to know more about him, his past – and now his future. He was an honorary member of a loving, dynamic family and he wanted what so many of them already found. Love. Intimacy. Trust. He thought an arranged marriage would set him up with someone with similar goals and hopes. And, if he was lucky, the same dreams… It’s sooo hard not to give away more but the story blurb just hints at the daunting task he had.
To say their courtship was plagued with struggles is a whopper to say the least! The commitment they both made was on rocky ground from the start. They had a lot to deal with, including personal history, and I loved how they worked through it all, one emotion-filled, don’t back down, moment at a time…
I skimmed the BDSM elements (not my jam these days) and instead focused on the intimacy that grew out of those scenes and all that surrounded them. Family, action, love – it was all there to savour!
Years after he lost the woman he loved due to his own dickishness, Elie Archambault has decided to enter into an arranged marriage. As a shadow rider, Elie is among the elite. The Archambault family is renouned for their ability to ride the shadows. There are few very people in the world that can match Elie’s speed in the shadows. There are also very few women that can handle his sexual proclivities and his alpha personality. Although he doesn’t plan on falling in love with his future wife, he will respect her and be faithful.
Brielle was heartbreaking. She has gone through so much in her young life. From family that uses her as a servant to Elie, who shattered her heart with his cruel words on that day so long ago. Brielle has not a clue that her intended groom is the man that she has spent years running from. When she sees him at the ceremony, she immediately tries to back out. The only man that she won’t let herself have is Elie. Brielle knows he could break her heart with a few careless words. When it’s apparent that Elie won’t let her back out of the contract, she does the only thing she can. She accepts Elie as her husband, but is determined never to love him.
I think this is it for me. I’m breaking up with Christine Feehan. For real this time. She just has this repetitive storyline in all her books. There’s always a trafficking ring and BDSM involved. Now I can handle both those, but every single time she releases a book (aside from the GhostWalkers), those two things are always involved. Like, come on. Lets get some fresh ideas or fresh something. Brielle was really a kickass heroine. She could take care of herself and the ones that are around her. Elie doesn’t like her being in danger and forbids her from riding the shadows. It was really ridiculous. I understood that Elie wanted to protect her, but the way he went about it was all wrong. He was kind of an asshole. After the last couple of books, I really liked him. His book was a highly anticipated one for me. It’s unfortunate that it was such a letdown.
Rating: 2.5 out of 5.
Another wonderful addition to the shadow rider series. Shadow Riders have a unique ability to travel portals in shadows from one place to another, fast, without being seen. They use this ability as vigilantes doling out “justice” to those they investigate and find to be criminals that escape the law. This book is Elie Archambaut’s story. The Archambault family police the Shadow Riders, doling out justice to those who have committed a crime against the rider code. Elie has been considered an extremely gifted rider fast strong and the pride of the family.
So why has Elie walked away from this prestigious family and his elite family. Why has he found his family among the Ferraro’s? you’ll have to read to find out! Why has Elie decided to enter into an arranged marriage, believing the woman fated to be his would never accept him? Would refuse to be his? You’ll have to read to find out! Who is the arranged bride? Will Elie find a happily ever after with her? Read this amazing plotline and find out!
There are many components to finding a happily ever after. For these two, Physical attraction and similar proclivities are no problem…they are on the same page there! But the communication, getting to the emotional bond needed between them is a challenge. Because of past hurts and struggles to be who they are, both have insecurities hindering that connection.
His from being a prodigy child, shuffled from place to place his life and revolved around skills and training and no family connection and being wanted for all that he is beyond a rider. He feels he has no control over his life to even discover who he is outside of it, every decision dictated.
Her’s come from being an unwanted child, never good enough. She’d never make a good wife to an Archambault. The challenges in her upbringing make her a strong woman in a stubborn and quiet way I appreciated her strength.
Christine does an amazing job building this emotional and personal connection, of putting them in situations where the insecurities are challenged and the love between them grows. Yes the physical connection is part of, but they grow to see, appreciate each other. The guidance he can give, the pride he shows in her gifts, the fear he shows when she’s in danger. She shows him she appreciates him beyond being a rider, makes him feel he has a home with her someone who cares for the man he is…all this and more…the knowing that your presence and absence both mean something to someone. Love how they become a team using their individual skills as danger threatens them and those they come to feel are family.
All is written with Christines signature family bonds and witty dialogue…and of course an edge of your seat plot that shows off the couple and vigilante skills of the riders. Hold your breath action, heart grabbing moments building a connection between them and secondary characters that become the family they both have wanted.
I am such a huge Christine Feehan fan and I can honestly say I’ve loved everything I’ve read by her and this book was no different! It’s unique it’s dark it’s sexy add the supernatural elements to it and I’m obsessed! This book can be read as a stand-alone but I recommend reading the whole series but if not you won’t be completely lost . Also the sex is super hot but that’s one of the things I love most about this authors writing she doesn’t shy away from the smutt some of the hottest sex scenes I’ve read have been written by her and this story is filled with all the smutt ! I really enjoyed this story definitely recommend!
Shadow Fire is book 7 in Christine Feehan’s Shadow Rider series and gives us Elie Archambault’s story. Elie has decided to go with an arranged marriage since he has given up on finding love. He thought he might have found it years ago with Brielle Couture but because of certain events happening he really screwed thing up with her and made her despise him
Day of the wedding comes. Paperwork has been all filled out and the marriage conducted by proxy so the ceremony is basically for show. Elie is waiting for his bride to walk down the aisle and gets the shock of his life. His unknown bride is none other than Brielle. Brielle wants to stop the wedding but Elie says to continue. Working with a family mediator Elie and Brielle find a way to work through their issues and come to terms with their past.
This book is a story of second chances, family, friendships and the importance of communication. Since they are staying with The Ferraro family, Elie and Brielle have great examples of how husbands and wives and siblings work together. That all helps because they have a very rocky road to travel before getting their HEA.
Elie Archambault has settled for an arranged marriage determined to do his duty and forget the woman whose shadow once entwined with his shadow. Imagine his surprise when his arranged bride turns out to be Brielle Couture the woman, he once desired. Can they work through their troubled past to find a happily ever after?
The interview with Stefano when Brielle requests her marriage to be annulled gives readers insights into the back story between Elie and Brielle that has been hinted at before. Elie is definitely ready to apologize for his part in alienating Brielle but can Brielle work past the betrayals that she has suffered from her family and Elie.
Soon it's business as usual with Brielle and Elie working on the sexual side of their marriage exploring their mutual desires in domination and bondage. However, Brielle is a trained investigator in addition to being a shadow rider and brings information about sex trafficking and child exploitation with the crime families who are responsible targeting the Ferraros but more specifically the Saldis. The shadow riders dispense justice and take no prisoners.
I am equal parts enthralled and repelled with the series. I enjoy the warmth and family relationships just as much as I'm vested into the characters and my desire to see them find their HEAS. At the same time, I abhor the growing darkness in the series that keeps the stories from being the wonderful escape from reality that I prefer them to be. Elie and Brielle are great characters I am happy to see find their happily ever after.
4.25 stars--SHADOW FIRE is the seventh instalment in Christine Feehan’s contemporary, adult SHADOW RIDERS erotic, paranormal, series focusing on the Ferraro Crime Family. This is Shadow Rider Elie Archambault, and Brielle Couture’s story line. SHADOW FIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise including bondage, discipline, D/s scenarios, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
SOME BACKGROUND: The Shadow Rider male must find his mate –a woman who is capable of riding the shadows-or at the very least with the ability to bear children with the shadow-riding gene. Within the family, the Ferraro siblings are tasked with finding a mate, fated by DNA, who is capable of continuing the family line. People with the ability to ride the shadows are few and far between, and future generations are at risk if no mates are found with the shadow-riding gene. The Ferraro’s are also part of the Chicago Underworld-a crime family linked to both legal and criminal activity.
Told from third person perspectives SHADOW FIRE focuses on the arrange marriage between Shadow Rider Elie Archambault, and Brielle Couture. As a child, Elie Archambault had been passed from family to family while training to ride the shadows in Europe, finally finding peace in America, befriended by the Ferraro family, becoming one of their own but an arranged marriage with a European shadow rider meant potentially spending his life with someone he could never love until his fantasies came true with the arrival of Brielle Couture, the woman that has starred in all of his dreams. Brielle Couture wanted nothing to do with our story line hero, having fallen victim to his verbal assaults, and emotional attacks years before, leaving her a shell of her former self. Battling between head and heart, Brielle was desperate to nullify their unwanted betrothal but when the truth is revealed, Brielle finds herself with the man meant especially for her. As every shadow rider manifested their own particular talent and skill, our heroine knows she is more than adept at computer research and discovery, and her research is about to reveal a possible connection between the take down of a human trafficking ring, and another ring succeeding back home. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Brielle and Elie, and the potential fall out as Brielle’s discovery place her in the direct line of fire as more than one assassin is sent to take her down, along with the people she now calls family and friends.
The relationship between Brielle and Elie is an enemies to lovers; a fated but tempestuous and embattled love affair destroyed by words said in anger that leave our heroine humiliated and broken, attacking her already fragile self-esteem. Brielle’s appearance has changed in the years since Elie last saw the woman with whom he will fall in love, a change caused by the caustic and vitriol spewed by our story line hero. As Elie sets into motion a plan to seduce the woman he married, Brielle must consider if Elie is the man with whom she wants to spend the rest of her life. The $ex scenes are passionate, erotic, and intense with scenes of bondage, discipline and D/scenarios.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including most if not all of the previous story line couples, and their expanding families, as well as Valentino’s cousin and right hand man Dario. The requisite evil has many faces.
SHADOW FIRE is a story of family and relationships, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, obsession and love. The premise is gritty, emotional and captivating; the romance is fated and seductive; the characters are energetic, dynamic, powerful and captivating.

Firstly, I would like to thank Netgalley for providing me with an e-arc of the book. This review is based on my personal opinion and enjoyment of the book.
I am about 50 % and I will have a review soon. So far I can say that I have enjoyed it, the hype for this couple was a long time coming.
Trigger Warnings: Human trafficking, child abuse, graphic violence
Shadow Fire is Book 7 in Christine's Shadow Riders series about families with paranormal abilities that dispense justice from the shadows. Each book is dark, edgy, sexy and exciting and Shadow Fire is no exception!
Elie Archambault is a shadow rider from one of the fastest and deadliest families in the shadow riding world. Having seen his adoptive family–The Ferraros–go through the trials and tribulations of finding and struggling to claim their shadow riding females, Elie has chosen to have an arranged marriage. In this world, it’s vital to find a compatible shadow rider and birth more riders to continue the legacy. Little does Elie know that his intended is a blast from his past that both surprises and excites him. You see, Elie has adored a woman from afar but he made a grave mistake years ago and lost her… or so he thought!
Shadow Fire is aptly named because there is so much fire and passion between Elie and his wife. Elie needs to be in control and craves his wife’s submission. And she needs that structure in and out of the bedroom. They’re a good pair and have combustible chemistry. I enjoyed their story.
I absolutely loved all the secondary characters. We get lots of page time with the Ferraros, Val Saldis and his scary sexy cousin Dario, who I hope will get a book next! He’s the bad boy you love to hate but secretly want a peek inside his dangerously wicked private life. Something tells me we may not survive it but what a way to go!
While this book is entertaining, this story has some very sad/graphic/awful scenes that could cause triggers for some readers. I would absolutely be sure you can handle those before picking up this book.
Although this is the seventh book in the series, it's my first time reading one! It took a bit for me to fully understand what Shadow Riders are and how their world works, but despite that, I still enjoyed this story. When it opens Elie has given up on the woman he though would be his own, so agrees to an arranged marriage. Then he finds out the arranged the marriage is to the woman from years past that he had given up on connecting with. Years ago someone had tried to set up a marriage between them, but Elie was younger than, and arrogant and said awful hurtful things to Brielle out of anger and she took off and he was never able to track her down to make amends. Now they are in an arranged marriage with the time and opportunity to work out their differences.
This was a fun, steamy, spicy and adventurous read as we follow along on Elie and Brielle's journey. What I liked most was that throughout their journey they both grow as individuals. There was also a compelling suspense story occurring alongside the romance.
Shadow Fire is the seventh book in the Shadow Riders series by Christine Feehan. This thrilling, angst-filled romance will tear you to pieces in the most beautiful of ways.
The Rider's world just got hotter! This was a totally unexpected twist for author Christine Feehan to throw her fans way.

Elie Archambault has reached a point in his life that he has chosen to live in a loveless arranged marriage. He knew he had lost his chance many years ago when the lady in question turned him down, refusing to even see him. It was his own fault. So, he has chosen a partner to live with for the sake of the shadow riders. He left nothing to chance and answered pages and pages of questions and preferences about everything, to include their sex life. He knew what she like or wanted, and she should feel the same regarding his answers. They married by proxy before even meeting. They would put on a short ceremony when she arrived for the sake of pictures and formalities.
Elie came from the line of Shadow Riders that were the fastest riders in the world. They were also in charge of policing other riders. Elie had excelled at riding shadows and spent his life training with different trainers to develop skills. However, that did nothing for him as far as social skills. Woman wanted to be seen with him as he came from a very wealthy family. He didn’t have to try to be nice. But now it was time to settle down.
At the chapel, as his bride came up the aisle, their eyes met through her veil. She immediately turned and tried to get away, saying she hadn’t agreed to this, as in marriage to Elie. Elie immediately went to her and was extremely surprised to find that his bride was the young lady from his past, Brielle Couture! He had thought about her most of his adult life. She was a waitress where he would bring his current model girlfriend. He felt she was too young for him and never wanted a substitute.
After a brief discussion with the head of the shadow riders, Stefano, Brielle agreed to complete the ceremony and then would plead her case with Stefano.
After the ceremony and a brief reception, Brielle and Elie met privately with Stefano. Brielle laid out the facts to Stefano, repeating the awful things that Elie had said about her so many years ago. Then she had to listen to Elie as he told his side of the story. When all was said and done, Stefano found that there was no reason to break the marriage. Despite the years of dreaming wonderful encounters with Elie, she was now where she never wanted to be, married to him knowing that eventually he would find out all her darkest secrets. The secret fantasies she had regarding him.
Enjoy a fantastic story line as Elie and Brielle get to know each other. I can tell you that they have some great fantasies! Lol
Brielle becomes involved in investigative work for the family. She finds that they too are investigating human trafficking, as she had begun investigating when she was in France. Could they all be connected?
It appears as if both Brielle and Elie have hits out on them. Can they learn to live together and work together with all the stress?
Enjoy another great story filled with love and action from the wonderful Christine Feehan

Elie Archambault, only child, skilled rider, and fighter. As a protege he's given to others to raise as a Shadow Rider. Elie's parents only have eyes for each other, and willingly let him go as a young child. As an angry young man, he's ordered to marry, which results in Elie verbally insulting his future wife, unaware that she's in the other room and hears everything. He tries to apologize, but she doesn't want to hear it, and leaves.
Brielle Couture tries to find herself after years of neglect from her own family. Disowned at 18 yrs. old because she refuses to marry into the Archambault family, she takes a job as a Nanny, and continues her training as a Shadow Rider, and a Computer Hacker. Brielle works with the Investigators in Spain to take down Human Trafficking.
Elie, and Brielle both decide to marry others and enter into an arranged marriage. But FATE finds a way to bring these two together at the altar. What follows is Ele, and Brielle trying to understand, and forgive each other for the past. Both have insecurities, fear of future heartache and have to learn to trust each other. The acceptance of the Ferraros as family helps ease and satisfy their need for family. I loved watching this couple thrive, love, and become best friends.
But, before this couple can find their HEA, they're attacked. Elie, Brielle, Valentino, and Dario are on a hit list because of their work in trying to stop Human Trafficking. The other Crime Families want them dead. The Archambault family as well as Shadow Riders around the world decide to take out the threat. The Human Traffickers learn that "You Don't Mess With Famiglia!"
Elie Archambault despises to go ahead with a arranged marriage. Little does he know he is marrying the love of his life.
Brielle Couture. His Brielle.
Brielle First met Elie when she was a teenager and became obsessed.
“Tell Elie . . . for me, he was always the one.”
A legendary Shadow Rider and a computer expert.
Human trafficking and evil try to steal there happiness.
“I didn’t expect to feel so much for her so fast. It’s . . . disconcerting. I mean, I knew I was obsessed with her, and had fantasies, but I had no idea I was even capable of feeling so damn deeply for anyone the way I do her.”
You don’t mess with a Shadow Rider or his family.
“You find a woman and you know there’s only the one, then you don’t chance losing that.”
I’m so glad Elie got his own story and I hope Dario gets his also.
Side note!!!
I really wish Ms. Feehan would get off the BDSM kick but even if she doesn’t I’ll still read and love her books.
