This book was good! I definitely didn’t see the ending coming. I read another review that said they felt the author was a bit rushed while writing it which I agree with but still very glad I read it. I love other books by Sheryl Browne and despite this one not being my favorite, I’d still recommend it and look forward to reading whatever she comes out with next!

A compelling drama with well written characters. An emotionally charged read where you don't know who is to be trusted and not everyone is who they seem. Added depths from the insight into coercive control and jealousy.

Wow another brilliant book from this author once again, held my attention from the first page until the last page and what a great ending it was.

I felt that I got to know all the characters, each with their own background story to tell and I couldn't put it down until I had finished it.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this book and well done Sheryl a definite 5+ star read from me which I can thoroughly recommend and I look forward to your next masterpiece.

The Invite is a fast-paced, gripping psychological thriller. The pages are infused with multiple narrations that keep you on your toes—the story centres around Kaitlyn, who is currently thriving in her relationship with Greg. The ghosts of her abusive past relationship is at rest, and she's ready to give love and commitment a second chance by marrying Greg. Zoe is Kaitlyn's best friend returning from Portugal to attend her birthday party, which Greg has organised. However, Zoe finds something off with Greg and voices her opinion to Kaitlyn, which leads to a war of words between the best friends. What Kaitlyn did not know at the time was that it would be the last words she exchanges with Zoe as she suddenly disappears.

Sherly Browne brings to life damaged and far from perfect characters that ignite feelings of compassion and sympathy. Human emotions are vastly explored, along with the extent to which people will have them validated. The inner struggles of Kaitlyn while juggling multiple roles of a fiance, mother and daughter are well written. When I thought I figured it out, there came unexpected twists, particularly with Greg and Daniel Shaw. A few clues along the way help you piece most of this complicated plot of a puzzle.

Fans of psychological thrillers will devour this book. A 4 star read! Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an ARC. This honest review is left voluntarily.

I loved the premise of this book and had really high hopes but I was a bit disappointed. I loved the writing style and how complex the storyline was. To say its fast paced is an understatement and you absolutely are kept wondering just who is innocent and who is guilty. I think for me personally, I more or less hated the main character from the oust so that may have soured my view of the book and stopped me from caring what had happened as much as I may have had I related or empathised with the main protagonist. In all fairness though, in this day and age..... a woman who is a single parent and drops all her friends and family to rush into a marriage thats arranged completely by the new man and to be already pregnant to him is just not going to win points with today's women. We stand by our friends and care enough about our kids to not rush into things to protect them.... and we are more than capable of raising a baby without needing to immediately run off and get married to a basic stranger. Independent woman rant aside, there are also a lot of very shady characters in the book who are actually shady! Lol its not just paranoia if everyone really is after you and my biggest thing had to be the fact that this woman had surrounded herself with people who are all just mental! But yeah, the book was a decent enough read. As I said, it's very complex and has plenty twists and red herrings and will probably suit any thriller fans.

I saw a post on Twitter about this book and rushed to NetGalley to request a copy. I have enjoyed all the Bookouture books I have had the pleasure of reading, so I had no doubt this book would be a great read. The Invite turned out to be a gripping, page-turner filled with twists you will not see coming. When reaching for this title, expect the unexpected. It is a fast-paced story about a woman who manages to attract all the wrong people into her world. When her best friend goes missing, she does not know who she can trust as she struggles to keep her young daughter safe.
This book was my introduction to Sheryl Browne’s work. I am hooked. I cannot wait to get my hands on more of her books. She shares a twisty tale that draws you into a world full of damaged people and when you are convinced you know where she is going, she drops another surprise on you. I raced through this book and simply could not get to the end fast enough.
After escaping an abusive marriage, Kaitlyn has finally turned her life around. She is happy and engaged to the perfect man. She cannot wait to introduce him to her best friend, Zoe. When Zoe arrives at Kaitlyn’s lavish birthday party, organised by Greg, Kaitlyn notices something a little off about Zoe’s reaction.
When Zoe pulls Kaitlyn aside and tells her that she is making a mistake marrying Greg so quickly Kaitlyn is furious. How can Zoe judge a man she does not know? After a horrible argument between the two women, Zoe rushes off and Kaitlyn asks Greg to go after her.
But when Zoe appears to be missing and Greg is acting sketchy, even lying to the police, Kaitlyn is reminded of Zoe’s words and she starts to wonder if she can trust Greg. When Greg runs from the police, Kaitlyn fears for her and Ruby’s safety.

I was quickly drawn into this story and just loved all the damaged people and how everyone’s secrets were slowly revealed. Every time I thought I had it figured out, the author delivered a new surprise. This story sure kept me on my toes.
The characters in this book will leave you amazed as the acts of jealousy lead to one shock after the other. Kaitlin has had her confidence rocked by an abusive husband, yet she found the strength to leave him. All Kaitlin wants is to be loved and for her daughter to have a safe happy childhood. This woman managed to gain my respect with her love and devotion to her child. She did everything she could to protect her little girl and keep her away from all the horrible things that were happening. Even when she doubted Greg, she managed to shield Ruby from her feelings. Ruby was simply the most adorable little girl. The author did a wonderful job showing this child’s innocence. I simply loved this character.
I found I doubted Zoe, she appeared just a little too wrapped up in her own issues for me to trust her intentions. She was another damaged character who was drawn to Kaitlin and maybe just a little too clingy.
As for Greg, the man was just too perfect and from the start, I had the feeling something was not right with him. However, I could never have predicted where his story was going. The author turned Greg’s story into one surprise after the next. I loved the slow reveal when it come to this guy.
No doubt, I was completely engrossed with this book and could not reach the end fast enough. The Invite easily sailed onto my loved list for 2022.
Psychological thriller fans are in for a treat with this book. It is an engrossing, twisty tale that will keep you glued to the pages. If you haven’t yet, be sure to add this one to your TBR. You will kick yourself for missing out if you don’t.

“You can’t hide from yourself.”

Kaitlin Chalmers finally has it all - a loving and gorgeous fiance, a huge engagement ring, a location wedding on the horizon and Ruby, her five-year-old daughter. Finally free of a controlling relationship, she’s grown and blossomed after meeting the man of her dreams. She feels worthy of love and respect and fiercely protective of her daughter. Why then does her bestie’s warning continue to consume her thoughts? She’s been down this road before and knows the warning signs. Why then did she have no say in the engagement ring nor in planning the wedding? Is Greg romantically impetuous or controlling?

Greg Walker. Perfection personified or a man with a plan? Is he really too good to be true? How far will he go to protect what is his?

Zoe, the best friend with a terrible track record of picking the wrong kind of man. Good thing being in foster care has given her the tools to fight for herself. When she discovers Kaitlin’s relationship is moving too quickly and considers that something might be ‘off,’ it triggers a rift between her, Kaitlin and Greg. Can she investigate before it’s too late?

Browne knows exactly how to pace a thriller and how to incorporate twists so that readers don’t see them coming! She’s examined the role our internal and external forces play in influencing us and highlights how the formative years often impact us in adulthood. Low self-esteem, she shows us, can be emotionally crippling as is the dangerous tendency to view ourselves through the eyes of others.

I was gifted this advance copy by Sheryl Browne, Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

As always I put everything to one side when a new book by this author comes out as I can’t wait to read it and the invite was certainly no exception. This was a brilliant book that had me hooked from the very first page. It had a lot of mystery and intrigue and characters lives interwoven together to make this a brilliant domestic thriller which also sought to bring topics such as cohesive control and other sensitive issues out into the open.

This was a rollercoaster of a read with lots of twists and turns and every time I thought I had figured it out something else came along and put a spanner in the works. I was hooked from beginning to end and read this in almost one sitting. Definitely a five star read.

I made up my mind to read all Sheryl Browne's books and so excited when I received the ARC copy of the book.

Kaitlin is engaged to Gregory Walker and have a party. She has invited her best friend, Zoe who is living in Portugal. Zoe meanwhile had an affair with a man named Daniel who turned out to be a married man. She then comes to England to attend her friend's party. But at the party, Gregory looked shifty and Zoe asked Kaitlin and warns about Gregory. Kaitlin and Zoe had a fight which resulted in Zoe leaving the party. But on the next day, the police come knocking on the door--Zoe has gone missing. Is her fiance responsible for her disappearance?

This had multiple characters and multiple plotlines so initially it was slightly confusing. However, it wasn't until the end that you find that there's some sort of connection between the characters and the plots of the story. Despite multiple characters, I found the story fast paced, with some twists and turns, with multiple suspects that may have a role in Zoe's disapperance. Initially, you are left slightly confused but towards the middle, the story starts building and gradually, there is a drama towards the end. The ending was slightly unexpected. Nonetheless, this was unputdownable and I actually stayed up all night reading the book.

Kaitlin is a complex character who was in an abusive relationship before and so it makes perfectly sense why she seemed to be fidgety. Her friendship with Zoe was briefly outlined although the author gives us a sense that they are really good friends.

Overall, this was an enjoyable thriller that you wouldn't want to put down--if you like drama in a thriller, then this book is one for you--worth four stars!

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

The invites went out weeks ago, and tonight, at a lavish manor house surrounded by friends and family, Kaitlin couldn’t be happier. But as the champagne corks pop, her dream party becomes her worst nightmare…

This was an alright read but I have to be honest that it would not have bothered me if I had not finished it, but I did. I wasn't particularly taken by the 'twists' in the story and I found some of the characters rather one dimensional and was not drawn to any of them. The book also moves from person to person and also different time frames which I do not think added to the authenticity of the book. This could be just me in this instance, normally I am a fan of Sheryl Brown's books and have read many which is why I requested this one.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm sorry, this book wasn't for me. I struggled to care about any of the characters because they were incoherent. Characters can be nuanced but these characters were just so confusing and inconsistent that they became hard to follow. There were too many storylines that just convoluted the story and made it hard to follow as well. I live for thrillers with twists and turns but there is a thing as doing too much because it's hard to execute them well. The author is clearly an excellent writer but I didn't like the plot on this one. Thanks for the advance review copy.

“…jealousy can drive people to great acts of despair…is often a driving force for murder…betrayal and unrequited love can lead people to all sorts of madness…”

It’s the big night of her birthday party, and all the invites had been sent. Kaitlin will finally be seeing her best friend again, and she can’t wait to tell her the good news of her engagement. But when Zoe shows up, she doesn’t seem to warm up to her fiancé Greg. In fact, Zoe warns her dear friend that there is something “off” about him. Where is his family? Friends? What does Kait actually know about him? Taken aback by what she perceives as jealousy over her happiness, Kaitlin lashes out…words are said that can’t be taken back, and Zoe flees heartbroken and crying into the night. When Kait cools down, she realizes that Zoe was just trying to look out for her as she has always done in the past. Too bad Kait didn’t do the same, because Zoe has vanished, and there are signs of foul play. Who could possibly want to hurt Zoe? And could she have been right about her warnings about Greg?

Ever watch a horror movie and find yourself screaming at the girl being chased by the killer? “Don’t run up the steps! Go out the door!” “Seriously?! What are you thinking?” This is exactly how I thought about Kaitlin’s character! I wanted to reach in the book and just shake the stupid right out of her! Ugh! Her naiveté was exhausting…but I guess that’s good writing in making me dislike the character so much. THE INVITE is an enjoyable mystery told from various points of view until the very end when all is revealed. Would recommend to fans of this genre.

Another captivating page turner by Sheryl Browne.

The invites went out weeks ago, and tonight, at a lavish manor house surrounded by friends and family, Kaitlin couldn’t be happier. But as the champagne corks pop, her dream party becomes her worst nightmare…

When her best friend went missing, her world begins crumbling down.
A gripping page turner you won't drop till the end.

I really wanted to like this book. It started great and interesting. As I read more the story became confusing and hard to follow. I'm so sorry. Thanks to NetGalley, publisher and author, for the review copy of this book.

I felt that there was just too much going on in The Invite and too many characters to really enjoy the book. I actually had had high hopes for this book with the plot sounding very intriguing; however, with so many storylines and characters, I just couldn't connect with the book. Zoe and Adam were my favorite POVs, and I did somewhat enjoy their storylines. There were several twists/surprises, but again, with so much going on, I wasn't able to really appreciate them. This was a 2-2.5 star read for me.

This book started off well. Kaitlin and Greg are in a fairly new, though moving quickly relationship. Zoe, Kaitlin’s best friend is coming back to the UK for her birthday party and to meet Greg. There is a cross word at the party and when Zoe goes missing, Kaitlin starts to question how well she knows Greg.
Sounds intriguing does it? My problem was how many characters there are (some referred to as multiple names) and how the book flipped between different times from different people over each chapter. It was just so hard to follow the story and although I finished the book I did have to go back and read bits again to try and figure out the ending.
I have read books told over different points of view and periods of time many times before but this one confused me and that had an effect on my ability to follow the story and know what was happening.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My Review:
What a fun and enjoyable roller coaster ride this book was!!!!! I never wanted it to end. I loved every minute of this one. This book had it all. One minute I was shocked. Another minute I was sad and then finally there was complete happiness in the end. The one common emotion in this book though was jealousy. It really got me thinking how that one single emotion can ruin someone’s life. It’s a very hard emotion to get over. Once it is there it just never seems to go away no matter what you do or how hard you try. I have read several of Sheryl Brownes books and I have loved them all. Once you picked up one of her books you will be hooked just like I am. I can’t wait to read her next book. Hopefully I won’t be waiting too long.

In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Amazing book. Kaitlin’s life is finally coming together. Or is it? Her long time friend Zoe has returned from Portugal. Zoe disappears from a lavish birthday party put on by Greg, Kaitlin’s fiancé. Lots of twists and turns. That is all I will say. Just read the book. I highly recommend it. Thanks to NetGalley, Bookoutre and the Author for allowing me to read and review this book.
