This cookbook was pretty dope! That’s not something I’ve ever said about a cookbook, but here we are!
Cole provided beautiful photos with the recipes, and they look absolutely delicious. (My Nana used to describe great food as “Makes my tongue wanna slap my brains out,” and each of these dishes is just that!) I am fully acknowledging that this book won’t be for everyone. Some ingredients may be hard to find, some people may not like meat alternatives, and some are trying to limit (or look to remove) ultra-processed foods. Those are all fair. What I will say is if you know how to, for instance, make your own vegan cheese that you like or burger, by all means, do that. I think of this cookbook the way I think of all cookbooks: as a guide.
I found some recipes that are not to my taste (I have texture issues), but I think this has something for everyone if you’re willing to be open-minded.
A new book from a renowned vegan chef is always exciting. I have heard so many things about Slutty Vegan over the years, but never had an opportunity to try it. This book is the next best thing. There are a variety of recipe styles and levels of difficulty in here. Some dishes are more complicated than I would tackle regularly, but they are unique enough that it seems worth the effort. I have a large number of vegan cookbooks, and I'd say this one is leaning towards the more advanced side, both in terms of tastes and cooking. The ingredients are basic things you can find at a supermarket though, and you can't say that for every book of this genre.
I was honestly disappointed with the contents of this cookbook. I love supporting and boosting awareness for vegan authors. As a long time vegan, I was hoping for recipes that were not just veganized versions of meat-based dishes. If I wanted to eat meat, I would. I very much prefer recipes with simple unprocessed ingredients, rather than meat replacers.
I really enjoyed this plant-based cookbook - the photos were great, and while I didn't try any of the recipes, there were a couple where I was like, huh, I never thought of doing that / or that it would be good.
This is such a fun vegan cookbook. I am excited to have recipes that are appealing to non-vegans/non-vegetarians as well.
I loved reading this cookbook and seeing all the recipes. In this cookbook there are recipes and advice for following a vegan diet which is great to have for many, like myself that are new to the vegan diet. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet but they all seem great to make and I can't wait to try some!
Thank you Netgally for the advanced copy.
I’m not a hard core vegan, but I try to eat plant based 4 times a week. Great recipes and advice from author.
Although I've lived in Atlanta previously, it was before the launch of Slutty Vegan, author Pinky Cole's runaway successful plant based restaurant. She shares her background and delicious, well seasoned food in her book. She also uses it to elevate others which I really admire. I'm hoping that this is the first of many books by Pinky Cole.
Thank you for allowing me to read this book. I enjoyed it very much. Even though I am not plant-based my spouse is and I enjoy the mix of stories with the recipes and advice from other vegan chefs. They're definitely some recipes in this book that I will try.
Great food, great story - delighted to see Pinky Cole bring vegan food to new audiences and looking forward to seeing her brand expand to new locations (like maybe where I live!).
I really enjoyed this book and the recipes were amazing! I'm so happy I had access to this advanced reader's copy. I'm proud of Pinky Cole and thankful she has shared some of her fantastic recipes with the world! This book is great if you are or aren't vegan. I love the healthier alternatives.
While I love the idea of this book, and it definitely piques your interest, it did not hit the mark for me. Props to the author for the book and business, but the recipes/ingredients weren't for me. For some super experienced Vegans, possibly, but not for the beginners.
Still, definitely has the "pick up" factor, and the shock factor to make you want to look it over.
The title is assertive and so are the recipes, but that's a great thing. Some readers may shy away from this cookbook because of the title, but with a little push they will see that these recipes are fantastic. I tested a few out and they were delicious and super easy to follow. AND the ingredients are accessible. Many vegan/vegetarian meals rely on items sold in specialty stores but Pinky Cole makes these meals universal.
I wanted to try this because I’m a vegetarian trying to create more vegan meals. I found that a lot of these recipes ask that you buy substitutes however it would be nice to know how to create them yourself. There are also a few specific ingredients that are just difficult to obtain. A few recipes that just blew my mind in a bad way. I look forward to trying a couple of these recipes, though.
Great, accessible recipes from the author as well and some phenomenal guest recipes as well. Graphics, layout, and presentation are excellent as well.
This cookbook is fun, exciting, and full of tasty dishes! From the title to the recipes themselves this book packs a lot of creative zest into healthy and easy to create vegetarian meals. I like the way the information is laid out and the recipes are grouped for ease of use and reference.
Start your day with the fresh fig toasts and move easily into lunch with the creamy pesto mac and cheese!
The Chipotle stuffed avocado was my favorite recipe in the whole book.
5 stars for a delicious and inclusive vegan cookbook!
This cookbook is full of mouth-watering vegan comfort foods. I love how diverse the recipes are! I loved the cover and title - I knew I had to read this one. The ingredients weren't too complex overall, and the recipes were very inclusive and interesting. You don't have to be strictly a vegan to enjoy these recipes, which is super great for those that are testing the waters or just want to eat more plants and less meat in their daily lives.
Thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for providing a digital ARC for review!
Eat Plants, B*tch is what was missing in my life. MS. Cole has provided us with some great recipes to help us get healthy with good, tasting food.
A fun cookbook of delicious looking vegan comfort food and indulgent feeling recipes. It is well organized and and a must read for fans of the restaurant or omnivores who'd like to expand their repertoire with plant based food.
This just became my new favorite vegan cookbook. All of the recipes are simple with easy-to-find ingredients. It's perfect for the people who are new to veganism and don't want an overwhelming ingredient list.
