I am grateful for any and all cookbooks that help people get eat plant-based. This one has a nice layout, and I thought the guest recipes and introduction to new chefs was a fun feature!
Truly, the cheesy berry poppers sound amazing. I can't wait to test those out! Avocado egg rolls also sounded like a winner.
I personally prefer cookbooks that don't just use processed vegan items (vegan cream cheese, vegan sour cream, etc.), but, if it gets people to branch out and try something, great!

This is the book I've been waiting for. I was so excited to get a chance to review this ARC. As a Georgian, I've always heard alot about Slutty Vegan and Pinky Cole and I can say this book has even more ready to run to her restaurants and support. The pictures in this book were breathtaking and the recipes seemed so fun and easy enough to manage. I'm a meat eater, but I can honestly say there were so many tempting things I would want to try in this book. I can't wait to recreate some of these. The flow and order of the book was good as I wasn't confused on the sections and I could easily go back and find what I wanted. I truly adored this book and plan on purchasing several copies for loved ones when it officially releases. This book gets a 5/5 from this meat eater.

Big Thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the chance to review this amazing eARC.

It’s is a testament to both great writing and irresistible recipes. Here is a fun, realistic cookbook if you have ever considered trying vegan in any form. It is rookie friendly and straightforward. It’s temps you pictorially and lures into a world of fun and surprise. I’ve made several of her dishes and did not reveal their origin until the meal was through. A wonderful gift for anyone willing to expand their culinary portfolio.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC!
What a fun vegan cookbook! This should be really appealing to young vegans and those re-evaluating the standard American diet. These recipes look really great, especially for lots of people transitioning from meat products like bacon or cheese, as the recipes provided can scratch all those itches with plant based products. A touch I really enjoyed were the quotes from other cooks and restaurant owners scattered throughout the book. The tone is kind of snarky, as you can tell from the title, but it is also positive and upbeat.

Too much processed vegan cheese and vegan meat products used in recipes in a book titled Eat Plants.

I cannot wait to visit Slutty Vegan! Like I believe that this cookbook does the restaurant a disservice because it doesn't have love and umph that is needed to make the at home recipes! I believe that Slutty Vegan is a whole vibe. I am glad that plant based eating is becoming the norm, but now there has to be a norm for steering away from processed vegan food and actually live off the land that is made for us.
Overall the book was awesome and it shows the personality of Pinky Cole. Definitely recommend!

Thank you to Gallery/13A and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book.

Having recently adopted a Mediterranean way of eating, I was excited to find an ARC of Eat Plants, B*tch. This book turned out to be a miss for me, unfortunately. There were only about 5 recipes that sounded both appealing and truly healthy. A lot of the recipes contain ingredients such as vegan bacon, sausage, vegan cheese, or vegan mayonnaise. So many of these products have unrecognizable ingredients in them. I was looking for recipes with more unprocessed, natural ingredients but didn't find many here.

The recipes are appealing and they look great, but the organization is lacking and there's a LOT of reliance on processed vegan substitute foods, which is a bit disappointing to me. Also, perhaps my review copy was missing the final touches, but I couldn't find the section with foundational recipes the author refers to frequently ("slut strips" bacon substitute, for example.)

Well written and easy to follow. Beautiful pictures. Only drawback for me is that it lacks nutritional information. The avocado egg rolls were delicious! Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book

We've already cooked three dinners from the easy and extremely flavorful recipes in this accessible and fun cookbook--garlic eggplant, black eyed pea stew and bourbon cauliflower. This is the idea book to hand to a flexitarian or a home cook who loves flavor and want to do more plant-based eating.

I enjoyed reading the recipes. I've always wanted to eat at her restaurant. However, I wasdm disappointed in how much the recipes called for store bought vegan cheeses and meat substitutes. I wish their had been some fun recipes for these staples.

This was my first introduction to Pinky Cole and her Slutty Vegan brand, and in general I quite enjoyed this collection of vegan recipes. My favorites in particular were the numerous recipes that carried the Caribbean influence of Cole’s own Jamaican American background. I also liked how the book carried an open and unabashed passion for veganism placed directly alongside a vocal note that this book isn’t solely for vegans, but rather inclusively geared towards a flexitarian audience merely interested in incorporating more plant-based recipes into their meal rotation.

The one major aspect that I honestly wasn’t a fan of was the fact that a sizable amount of recipes use processed vegan meat replacements of some sort, like vegan bacon, vegan steak, and the like. As someone who mainly eats vegetarian, I would rather let plant-based ingredients shine on their own terms instead of trying to entirely copy something else. However, Cole did state that the majority of her brand customers are meat eaters, and if she’s found that meat substitutes have proven to be a successful strategy to help win people over to a healthier plant based diet, then I guess I would have to say more power to her.

Overall, I am pretty pleased with these relatively easy, varied, and definitely flavorful-looking recipes. I already have a few that I am interested in trying out at home. There is plenty to enjoy in “Eat Plants, B*tch,” regardless of whether one is a full vegan, vegetarian, mostly vegetarian, or just wants to reduce the amount of meat in their diet just a little bit.

Gorgeous photos. Wide range of recipes. Was a little sad that most of the ones that appealed to me turned out to be by guest chefs, but that's personal taste.

I can definitely see this cookbook up closer to the top of the must-haves than most I've seen recently, but on the recipes alone. While the personal writings are engaging, the pantry staples section was shorter than any other vegan cookbook's that I've ever read, and I hope new people like figuring out things on their own, because the FAQ is disappointing. The overall takeaway feels like "learn to read labels," while the ingredients lists for the recipes are often a slew of words that just have "vegan" in front of them.

So big thumbs up for those who know what they are doing, and maybe purchase it/check it out in tandem with something a little more 101 if you're new to vegan food.

4 stars

In this bright collection, Cole speaks to vegans and "flexitarians" alike by providing a healthy selection of delicious looking vegan recipes. The structure of this cookbook highlights the expansive audience.

Cole emphasizes the importance of cross cultural eating through the various categories and stylized images included throughout. The recipes all come with clear directions (I assume - I haven't made any yet but absolutely bookmarked several so that I can rectify that situation this weekend) and appealing photos. None of the recipes seem particularly complex or involve ingredients that will be especially difficult to find, and this is not always the case in this genre. I expect that most readers who pick up this book will find multiple opportunities for success versus Pinterest fail style messes in their kitchens.

As a person who has been vegetarian for a long time and vegan much more recently, I did hope to see some more new ideas here. That said, I still found a lot that I'm interested in trying and feel confident I can make work. I can't wait to dig back into this book and into whatever meals I borrow from it.

Being from Atlanta I can attest to how fantastic slutty vegan food is! I haven't tried any of the recipes yet but there are several that I am looking forward to making. This cookbook will go over well in my in-town library as there are a lot of people looking to cook with meat and dairy less and there are a lot of people who will find the title funny rather than offensive. If I had any suggestion for improvement it would be to go a little easier on the smoothie recipes as there are million smoothie recipes out there already. There are not a ton of vegan, southern comfort food cookbooks though and that is really what most will look for in this book. Overall, I would definitely recommend for any library looking to add to their vegan cookbook collection.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I've been looking to eat more veggie meals so I thought this book would be a good fit for me. There are some great recipes but I don't want to be totally vegan and I think this book leans more towards vegan than vegetarian. Not sure the cover would go over in my library location either.
