I am still laughing! Gibbs is such a popular author in my Media Center and his "Spy School" series is always in demand.
The plot of this humorous book is one that has been done many times over. A Princess is kidnapped, supposedly by an Evil Force. In this rendering it's the Evil Stinx. A dissatisfied peasant wants to change the course of his life and do better than his parents so volunteers to become a knight and save the Princess.
Gibbs has such a way with words. He hits on themes that will make his young, and older, readers guffaw out loud on every page.
He is so clever and incorporates new vocabulary in a manner that will make you remember those words forever. Besides the hilarity, there are so many messages and themes that ring true in life. I especially liked his take on "happily ever after" to "happy for the time being." I just loved this book!
