This book was sent to me electronically for review by Netgalley. It is murder and intrigue in a story woven by a talented author. I did not enjoy the themes running throughout this book, but others might.
I absolutely love this book. It’s a fast pace thriller I will keep you on the edge of your seat until the last page. The main character is absolutely somebody who can relate to and can get behind. Thriller lovers are going to be obsessed with this book!
Nina Sadowsky has written another thriller that I gobbled in less than 2 days. One does have to eat and other things! Fast paced, with a deep knowledge of psychology and trauma, Ms Sadowsky has a gift for twists and surprises that ranks with the best of this genre. I love when I can’t guess the outcome, and all too often it’s obvious. Not with Privacy — it’s deftly crafted and Ms Sadowsky’s background in the film industry translates so well to novel writing. This book would be wonderfully adaptable to a film or miniseries ! Very entertaining and skillfully executed (pun intended). Highly recommend! Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC and opportunity to review!
I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review
I loved this one. Very fast paced, had me turning pages as I tore through it – I had to see how it would end. The characters were well rounded and the narrative felt believable. Gave me chills. Solid five
Full review to come on Goodreads and Amazon. Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for a review copy.
I know I have said this before, but one of the cool things about being a reader is discovering new authors. Such is the case with Ms. Sadowsky and the first book I have read by her, Privacy.
I enjoyed this book on my different levels. The characters: Laina the psychiatrist who is trying to solve her patients’ problems and feeling like a failure. Cal Murray, the “cub reporter,” who is always on the search for a bigger, better story to land himself a job as an anchorman. Cop Cal, Cal Murray’s cop friend who gives him tidbits. Laina’s patients themselves who each are faced with their own set of difficulties. Even “creepy scarf guy” adds to this story. Vanessa, Laina’s lawyer and best friend. Bex, Laina’s other best friend. Harley Weida, Laina’s business partner who is harboring a secret all his own that he holds over Laina.
While some of these characters have what you might call “bit” parts, they all lend to making this story relatable, easy to read, and an “oh, I didn’t see that coming” ending.
Ms. Sadowsky also subtly tackles a racial issue in this tale that, unfortunately, still exists today. She handled this eloquently and it only adds to the story with a very subtle message. She even threw in a budding romance!
The thing I enjoyed most about Privacy is the way Ms. Sadowsky dropped clues that led me down a path, only to be diverted to go off in another direction. And the ending? Be sure to get your copy of Privacy when it publishes in June 2022.
Although I love her earlier novel, CONVINCE ME, I found this very disappointing. I was able to predict the plot and the players as I read. Despite the well-meaning intent of the heroine, Laina, I found her cringeworthy.
Looking forward to Sadowsky’s next novel and bringing back the spark!
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC.
First of all, I was really impressed by the author's vocabulary. It was refreshing to not read the same 20 adjectives that so many authors use over and over again. Second, I wa s able to figure out what was going on about halfway through the boom, but I don't feel like that detracted from the story much, if at all. I was kinda sad for Cal by the end, but at least he got a good story out of his time around Liv. Very interesting book, indeed.
