Marci has to go to Italy to clear out her Godfather's antique shop. Turning up in Positano it is obvious that the people there know more about her than the other way around. Keen to discover what has gone in her God-Father's life she sets to work but is soon distracted by Nico whose family she is staying with.
I enjoyed this book and found it easy-reading with some nice descriptions of the local area and dishes.
This was a very sweet story but I did find the protagonist indifferent to her love interest until the end where I was surprised at the HEA. I did find myself mostly invested in the character connections versus rooting for the love story - a very sweet story but a bit too much going on for me.
The perfect escapist reading. Set on the Italian Coast, the location can’t get any better. Marci gets a notification from her godfather that brings her to Italy.
The flow,of,the story works well. Clues are given along the way to finally reveal what some of the secrets are.
The cover is so bright and gorgeous, it makes me just want to step into and enjoy a glass of Chianti.
Cheers! Enjoy the read!
The stunning and richly described setting of this novel on the Amalfi coast gives the reader an immediate holiday experience and then there is the story to enjoy. Marci has been entrusted with the task of sorting out her Godfather's antique emporium and shipping most of it back to be sold by her family antique business in the UK. Long held secrets are uncovered along with antique gems, many mouthwateringly described meals are consumed and romance is in the air. A perfect holiday read!
I really enhoyed this book, i wasn't sure at first but once i got past the first few chapters i was hooked and really felt like i was in Italy.
I don't remember reading this author before but I really enjoyed this story.. Marci, whos' godfather got married and is off traveling and is getting rid of his business in Positano and decides that Marci is the one to go there and pack it up for him as he is into collector items just as they are plus he has an ulterior motive. She goes and becomes close to Lucca, Celia and all the family who own the restaurant and place she is staying. Let's just say that Nico becomes very fond of her and how does she feel. she meets everyone and has good friends in Olivia and Jack. I am not going to spoil it. There is a lot of things happening and also several surprises. A VERY GOOD READ. It is a story that I would recommend you read.
Heartbroken and in desperate need of a vacation, Marci James heads to the Amalfi Coast to pack up her godfather, Richard’s, antique shop. As is most often the case with this kind of undertaking, she discovers that it’s a bigger task than she’d anticipated and welcomes the help of the enigmatic Nico Romano. As you’d expect from a gorgeous young Italian, he wines her and dines her and soon she’s chasing the dream of a happy life with someone she loves. When they uncover a big family secret it has the potential to ruin more than Marci and Nico’s happiness.
While I agree with some reviews that this was not one of my favourite Coleman reads for the same reasons (overly wordy, couldn’t connect to the characters, lack of ‘pizzazz’), I did love the concept of spending the summer rooting through a closed up antique shop with time to uncover hidden treasures. Lucy Coleman knows how to write about the journey and always shows that despite things not always falling into place as we’d like, there’s the potential for happiness and love if we choose it. I can always count on her to write feel-good, uplifting, contemporary romances with heartwarming characters and beautiful locations. Readers of this book will be whisked away for an unforgettable summer, engaged in a little romance, friendship, family and laughter as the lovebirds struggle to find a path to each other.
A light, escapist read, this book with its lovely descriptions of food and Positano enabled me to revisit one of my favourite holiday destinations. The family secrets kept me engaged when I became frustrated with the wordiness.
I was gifted his advance copy by Lucy Coleman, Embla Books, and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
I received an ARC of, Finding Love in Positano, by Lucy Coleman. This was a good book. I did not like the secret that was kept from Marci. Marci is a good character, her mother not so much.
This book is very much a mixed bag. The overall story is interesting but is so long-winded with too many long descriptions of food and steps that the reader starts to feel bored and exhausted from reading this, and in my case ends up skipping ahead to get to something actually happening. I feel this story had good bones, but needed a better editor who could’ve cut 1/3 of the book away to make it less tiresome, and more something you can’t put down, rather than something you’re constantly putting down due to the endless descriptions
Just the kind of escape you need whilst isolating with Covid! Thoroughly enjoyed this beautifully written tale set in Positano. what a wonderful place it sounds like, even with all the steps to everywhere. Can't wait for this author's next book
.Marci has a successful career in her family's antique business.in Egland, Richard, her newly married godfather,
asks her to close his business in beautiful Positano, on the Italian coast. Marci flies out and is ready for hard work
and a lovely summer. She meets Nico but is she ready for this relationship. She is a level headed woman and
doesn't want just a fling . . This is a completely engrossing read. There are many problems in the Italian paradise
with, shady deals , old, well-kept secrets. and theft. There are also wonderful new friends and happy times.
A realistic and uplifting tale . A pleasure to read.. I enjoyed this book so much.
The perfect sunshine escape! I loved it!
Another amazing read from Lucy Coleman that captures the beauty of Italy so perfectly. I loved the story and it took me away to warmth!
Really well descripted book, the food, the surroundings all makes you feel you are there. Great summer read with enjoyable characters
Unfortunately, I could not finish this book.
The writing style was clunky and unnatural, as was the dialogue. There were vocabulary choices that were just completely wrong (as in, the definition contradicted the use and context). The characters were stiff and not believable. Overall, it felt very amateur.
The story idea was what drew me in—I love the notion of spending a summer sorting through an antique shop in Italy, finding love. But the actual writing fell short. Disappointed because this could have been so good.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Oh what a fabulous wee romance. this had everything you want in a romance: great characters, a fabulous setting which is evoked so skilfully, a cracking love story and an additional bit of mystery.
I loved it and recommend it to anyone who loves a great escape with wonderful people.
Finding Love in Positano is absolutely my favorite of the Lucy Coleman books I have read so far! The story has so many elements to warm readers’ hearts: lovely descriptions of the area, yummy descriptions of the food and wine, heartwarming descriptions of the the joys of family and friends and not least of all the thrill of falling in love, plus a little mystery thrown in. This is a book that begs to be read in one sitting. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.
What a lovely story. The antique cave sounded amazing..You wanted to visit Positano. Richard was a great character. It is a story of a god daughter who has to sort out her uncles business after he falls in love. The Italian food descriptions were so yummy. . Marci was a great character and her love for her family was important to her. I loved it. Lucy Coleman is a good writer.. I also like a book that has a proper ending and this does. Ace
