I am going to be honest, I loved the first one, could give or take on the second one, but this one is a WINNER!
I felt so much right off the back for Jessa, and just wanted to wrap her in friendship hugs and love. Clark is a man with so much guilt about so many things including losing his wife, and wanting one of his wives friends is just so hard for me. These two were wonderful throughout the hold book and how Clark thinks the world of Jessa and shows it in little ways just made my heart melt. A great read and looking forward to the next book in the series.
I have posted this review on Goodreads, see the link below. I will also post the same review on instagram @readingwiththecatlady on February 14th
While scrolling through NetGalley I saw the cover of this book, and it intrigued me. I read the synopsis and I am a sucker for a fake dating trope especially with a grumpy/sunshine type story so I had to request it! After getting approved I realized it was part of a series but I gave it a try and didn’t feel like I missed out on anything, and I now need to get my hands on the first few stories.
What I loved:
- Wilder family, I am a sucker for books with large families it creates such a fun dynamic within the story
- Fake dating, this is one of my favorite tropes and I love how/why it even starts
- Mountain man/city girl, these are always fun to read about since there are a lot but I liked how these two work together
- Spice, I like a spicy romance and I was not disappointed with this book!
This was my first experience reading Serena Bell’s books but I can guarantee you it won’t be my last! Anyone who likes a fake dating trope, a spicy romance or just a great story about growth through grief this is the book for you!!
This was such an amazing book! Book three of the series but could be read a standalone, this book is about Jessa and Clark fake dating each other as they both need to get someone off their backs only to find out that their is true chemistry between them. I really enjoy these books. Bell doesn't disappoint and her writing is God send. I was instantly hooked from the first page and couldn't stop reading because I just loved the style, characters, and the romance. The pacing was very well done with many conflicts in the book. I love how there are so many of those memorable scenes in this book. I enjoyed basically everything about the writing!
This book is written in both Jessa and Clark's pov. I enjoyed both characters journey as both are going through relationship troubles. Jessa with her divorced cheating ex and Clark losing his wife a couple of years ago. I enjoyed how both characters helped each other with their struggles and protected each other which was so cute. There are many side characters involved including all those were featured in the past books. I loved how involved they were in the story and helped the main characters with their journey. The romance was very well done and it was so cute. The romance trope is mainly fake dating but there is also one bed and instant love with 3/5 level of steaminess.
The ending was so cute with a happily every after. I'm super excited to read the next book in the series as I love the Wilder boys so much. Bell also doesn't disappoint with her writing so I already know that the next book will be a 5/5 stars. I had absolutely no problems with this book and I totally recommend reading it. No books can compare to how good this one was!
Wilder With You is a wonderful modern romance novel that can hold its own in the Wilder series. You don't need to be caught up on all the Wilder love stories to fall in love with this charming family. Jessa and Clark's story is heartwarming and I loved watching them grow together. Bell does a wonderful job of tackling very real subjects of divorce and death. I really enjoyed how she made sure that the main characters weren't trauma bonding, which often happens in love stories where these topics are introduced.
This was the first Wilder book that I had read and I already want to dive deeper into the series, and I look forward to reading the future books too! At times I did find that following the other relationships in the book a little complex, but I'm sure it is easier to follow if you have read the other books. Another critique I have of this story is that sometimes it read as though it was a 9th grader's diary rather than a book, especially when the author was trying to move the story along quickly and do time skips.
I loved the dual perspective as it helped to understand both characters better. I wish the fake-dating trope played a bigger role and caused more consequences for them. It seemed to be pretty easy for them to get away with it and I wish there had been more awkwardness or reluctance to make it a bigger plot point. After the first third of the book, that trope didn't really play a very big role until they realized they had both caught feelings. I also would've liked to understand more as to why Jessa thought Clark hated her, I felt like that needed more explaining too, and was quickly brushed over.
Overall, this is a sweet love story and by the end, I was happy for both characters and felt content with how it ended. I really enjoyed that the author took her time to wrap up this love story before diving into the next one.
I LOVE THIS BOOK.
Blurb: When Jessa encounters her cheating ex husband with said woman on the Wilder camping weekend, beautiful and grumpy widower Clark will jump to the rescue and pretend to date her. This fake dating will soon be accompanied by some real kissing (and more 🔥) until they realize it’s all real.
I absolutely love discovering new authors and I adore siblings-like stories where each one gets their own book. There’s just something so cool about seeing all characters from different POVs and moments in time throughout a series.
This book was funny, emotional, sexy as hell and I love how it wrapped up perfectly to give closure to Clark about his dead wife and Jessa about her feelings of fear due to her past. It was great. Also one thing that surprised me was how inclusive they were??? NB characters, bisexual moms, Cuban-American Rachel (I wanna read her book now), characters that don’t fit the beauty norm of what’s feminine. It was just so easy and fun to read this.
I will def be reading Kane’s and go back for Gabe and Lucy’s.
FOR FANS OF Berman Brothers, Winston Brothers & Loveless brothers, this series is perfect for you.
I love a good fake dating trope and this definitely brought the steam. Clark doesn’t want to be attracted to Jessa, a friend of his deceased wife, but feels obligated to pose as her boyfriend when Jessa’s ex-husband ends up on a wilderness excursion ran by Clark! There was a little bit of forced proximity when Jessa and Clark have to share a tent to prove to Clark’s siblings they’re really together so they’ll stop encouraging him to get back on the market since his wife’s passing. Also, the story heated up QUICK! Clark and Jessa can’t control their attraction to each other and I was here for it. When they finally stop denying their physical attraction to each other, fireworks. Clark was the perfect teddy bear man to prove to Jessa that love is still real after her divorce.
Jessa believes that your ringtone should change to alert you that the call is a bad news type of call. Finding out that her friend and business partner is no longer able to attend a wilderness retreat she ponders whether to pull out herself but as she'll be moving in a few months she needs to embrace the opportunity she has on her doorstep. Not that it helps that Clark Wilder is running the trip, her former book club friend's husband (Emma passed away two years ago), who can't seem to say more than three words to her at a time.
Diversifying the Wilder Adventures trips has been great for business, although Clark still isn't sold on some of the more luxury/glamping style trips that they now offer. Stuck in the van with his sister he cornered with talk about how he needs to move on and how pretty Jessa is etc. Finding out that she got divorced last year after her author husband cheated on her. A woeful take but brought to reality when he spots that the cheating ex is on the trip with his new girlfriend and rubs it in Jessa's face. Jumping to rescue without thinking he tells her ex that they are dating. Cueing funny looks from two of his siblings who are also on the trip.
Keen to get her ex off her back and Clark to have his family lighten up on getting back out there, they agree to fake date for the weekend. However, family interference leads to them extending the timescale but with kisses shared they opt for fake dating but real kisses and intimacy - but there was also going to be an expiration date on this, especially when things start to feel a little too real.
Serena Bell kills is once again with the Wilder clan! Wilder With You is an adorable and steamy comfort rom-com that can be read as a standalone but I also highly recommend reading the previous books. Each book follows a Wilder brother and ugh I just can't wait for the next ones. I'm also kicking myself for still not reading book 1.
Clark is a burly mountain man who's muscular arms I just want around me, who's also still managing his grief over the death of his wife. Jessa is a wedding planner who is just so understanding, sweet and kind, even though her ex-husband is an absolute jackass. As their fake dating continues, the line between fake and genuine begins to blur though the two have their own demons to handle before they can find happiness.
Read if you like:
- fake dating
- big bearded men
- camping & hiking
- big families

4.5 stars rounded up
This was a lighthearted, fast-paced, and oh-so-spicy romance! I fell in love with Clark and Jessa right away and was rooting for them to find their happily ever after. Jessa is a wedding coordinator and Clark is a wilderness ranger with a large and loving family. The rest is history once Clark and Jessa start pretending to date.
In this book, Serena Bell does an excellent job of rehabilitating both of these people. Each has experienced a different type of trauma in their previous relationship, and each is free to grieve in their own way. As always, the chemistry she creates between her characters is fantastic, and the quick-witted banter between them is flawless.
This new book was fantastic, and I highly recommend it.
Jessa, a reccent divorcee, finds herself on a trip out into the wilderness when her friend bails on her. Things get even worse when her ex, and the woman he left her for, show up on the trip as well. Jessa, embarrassed, angry and flustered, is baffled when the tour guide - enter handsome, widower Clark Wilder - poses as her new boyfriend to save her from the embarrassment and pestering of her ex. Fake dating fun ensures and Jessa and Clark begin to fall in love.
I haven't read any of the other Wilder novels, but found it was able to slip into this world easily enough. I really enjoyed the spice and banter between Jessa and Clark. I thought their love story was sweet. Overall a very fun read!

I stopped reading Wilder With You at 22%, and will not be writing a review for that reason. I did not find myself liking or connecting with either of the main characters, and the story wasn't flowing nicely for me. There are lots of short, choppy sentences, and the people in the story and the writing felt very simple and flat. I love fake dating stories, and this one has made me giggle a couple times but overall, I just couldn't get into it enough to look forward to picking it up.
Jessa, recently divorced from a completely full of himself man who cheated on her and wrote about it in his fucking fiction novel. A-HOLE.
Clark, a handsome mountain man with many muscles and a Wilder brother, recently a widow by the loss of his wife. The Wilder family spends most of their time outdoors holding wildlife adventures for beginners.
Jessa signs up for a wilderness adventure with Clark as her guide and right as the trip sets off her ex-husband and new fling happen to be here as well. Great start to a weekend in the woods….but wait. Muscle man to the rescue and he tells everyone he’s Jessa’s new boyfriend to save her from the harassment of her ex.
They have known each other for awhile because Jessa was friends with Clark’s deceased wife, but he always acted like he hated her.
What could go wrong with fake dating for a weekend in the woods? Nothing right?
But…if you bring your fake dating back to real life to please Clark’s family and get everyone off his back, that could be a problem!
There are obvious sparks between the two of them. Decisions are made where they will fake date but can really fuck….
Fake dating and real fucking….this can’t end well.
The smut in this is phenomenal, loved it all. What an incredible romance novel. Stands alone on its own and you definitely don’t need to read the first two before this one.
Everything about this book was perfection. The story had real heart, heartbreak, death, it really made you think about life and relationships.
I love this series and author!!
In Wilder With You Clark Wilder is a mountain man adventure guide, whose wife passed a few years ago. Jessa is newly divorced, and is going on one of Clark’s tours. They end up in a situation where it works for them both to pretend to be dating, but as per every faking dating romance, it starts to feel real.
This book is the 3rd in a series of standalone contemporary romances about the Wilder family. I read the opening paragraph and I knew I was going to like this.
#WilderWithYou by Serena Bell is a fake-relationship turned real romance at its best. What could be better than a Jason Momoa looking widower helping a heart broken wedding planner...because honestly who doesn't like romance and rigged men with beards📚🤓❤️

This is book 3 in the Wilder series by Serena Bell and although I did not read book 1 or 2 yet, I am 100% downloading them immediately! This book was perfect in all the ways! It was so tropey with the fake dating and then it doubled down with the forced proximity and I was all in from the start. Clark is the widowed broody mountain man who uses as few words as possible and although it has been years, is still mourning the loss of his wife. He has a lot to unpack on that front and yet he enters the fake dating situation with eyes wide open. Jessa is a divorced wedding planner just trying to get her life together. She's making big plans and the mountain man was not part of them until he was and it was so delicious to see them fumble around in the dark.
These two had chemistry in spades, they had an adorable tentative relationship that just needed a tiny spark to turn into wild flames and I was so there for it. The author gave us a lot of heart in each of their stories. The idea that each person grieves differently is real and I appreciated how she let Clark work through his.
Jessa and Clark were a great couple to read and they were only enhanced by the entire Wilder family and friends group. I can't wait for the next book and am already counting the days!
I received an ARC of this from NetGalley. It is a romance about a burly viking woodsman and a wedding planner. I really enjoyed myself. Both of them are coming out of marriages, one divorced and one widowed. Neither of them think they will find love again, let alone anytime soon. In this book you get to see them break down the walls and learn to love and trust again. It was a great love story. Steamy and emotional. Also the Wilder family is a crazy group. Bell spent a bunch of time talking about the other family members that have their own stories or will have their own stories. It was a nice universe to get lost in for the awhile.
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for this ARC.
This book is the 3rd book in the Wilder Adventure series and it didn't disappoint. I really love this book, I couldn't put it down! I loved how the characters from the first 2 books also appeared in this book. A must read if you love smutty rom-coms, especially hot viking looking men!!
A super cute fake-relationship story with some steamy moments! I didn’t realize this was book 3 in a series until I was almost finished with the book! I’d definitely give this to someone who liked Happiness for Beginners by Katherine Center or On Location by Sarah Smith.
this was super cute!! it was a little too much “insta-love” for me, but overall i adored it! fake dating is always an insta read for me! clark and jessa were 🥰🥰🥰 but also the way Serena Bell wrote about grief and overcoming it was amazing and beautifully handled!
I don't know why widowers are so sexy, but they really are. There's something about a man who has loved and lost that gets me every time, and I loved this sweetheart of a mountain man. This fake relationship romance is light and STEAMY, with plenty of heat to keep things interesting. It builds on the series while still feeling like a standalone, and I had no trouble bingeing it in one sitting. The story flew by, and the chemistry between these two kept me turning the pages late into the night.
The story follows Clark and Jessa, two people who really shouldn't get together. Clark's wife passed away unexpectedly a few years ago, and Jessa was one of her friends. Though Clark and Jessa were never close, he feels guilty every time a spark of attraction ignites in her presence. So when Jessa's ex shows up on the wilderness retreat Clark and Jessa are a part of, no one is more surprised than Clark when he comes to her rescue. Pretending to be in a relationship with the woman he shouldn't be attracted to is sure to be trouble, but Clark goes for it anyway. And as the two spend time together, they discover that those sparks have the potential to turn into something more... even if neither one is ready for something real.
This manages to remain light and sexy, even while handling heavy topics. Clark is a widower and Jessa is divorced, so the ghosts of relationships past haunt them both. They're both hesitant to move forward with a real relationship, but the chemistry between them is impossible to ignore. I loved how likable these characters were, and I felt for them both. I typically don't love books that feature "just" sex, but it was understandable that these characters would resist giving in. The story is fast-paced and steamy, with plenty of sexual tension and just enough heartache. I also loved getting to know Clark's family better, and this remained a standalone while also advancing the series. I'm not a big fan of either of the tropes that are up next in the series, but I'm definitely looking forward to more from the author. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this fake relationship romance.
