I got totally lost in the plot of this book I must admit. There was too much political manoeuvring and after a while I couldn't follow which piece is doing what on the chess table - even though I read the first book and was supposed to have a vague idea of the characters and their motives.
Baxter sounds like a decent chap and his character is strong, well developed. I was really looking forward to seeing how his relationship with Ekaterina was coming along but I felt disappointed.
I am not enough of a strategist to appreciate the complexity of this book.
