In this book we follow the relationship between Theo and Mike. She is a high profile business woman who has recently lost her family in a horrific circumstance. He is a CIA agent wanting to protect her from those out to get her to settle their score. This is an easy read like her books usually are. There were some twists and turns that I did not expect. I enjoyed this.
*HUGE SPOILER ALERT*
I love Danielle Steel books, and Danielle Steel too, of course. And with loving her, comes the pain of writing a review that is not all five-star worthy. I just finished her book "Suspects" and as always, fell in love with the characters and world in which she placed them.
Theo is a wildly successful business woman who runs an online shopping store. She unfortunately experiences great tragedy in her life, losing both her husband and son. As expected, this turns her world upside down. She falls into a deep depression which almost drives her into becoming a recluse. One fateful day, she musters up the courage to travel from her home in France to a pop-up for her store in New York. That night is where she meets, Mike, a CIA agent, who introduces himself as a lawyer (as to not blow his cover). Mike almost instantly falls for Theo (as expected) and becomes semi-obsessed with investigating the unfortunate incident that she lived through just a year prior.
Mike decides to travel to Paris using work as an excuse. He then musters up the courage to ask Theo out on a date. I guess she too felt the same for him when they first met because she instantly agreed. They both fall in love with each other and begin their long distance relationship, both visiting each other in their respective countries.
The book focuses on Mike's quest to protect Theo from a future incident where her husband and son's kidnappers ultimately murdered them for money. The kidnappers only got half the money then and are back again to try to retrieve the rest. On the other hand, there is a strange character, Pierre, that keeps popping up and is intertwined in the story. At first, I though Pierre would play a larger part in the story with how much they mention him but alas, he dies not really having too involved with the main characters. Put 2 and 2 together and envelop it into a love story and you have your book, "Suspects." Not going to lie, at one point, I thought Mike would end up being the bad guy.
I expected more from the ending, mainly having Mike actually propose to Theo and have them move in together so I think the story fell a little short at the end but all in all, an enjoyable read... This book was simply a good way to pass the time.
THANK YOU TO NETGALLEY FOR THE ARC, ALWAYS APPRECIATED!
A bit of a different set up in Ms. Steel’s latest bestseller. Meet Theo who has her own online shopping service married to fashion mogul Matthieu. Enter greed, corruption, espionage and infidelity and you have a blockbuster that only DS can weave. This one with a bit of a different storyline. Pierre de Vaumont a high society networker crosses paths with Theo and the twists begin. CIA operative Mike enters the picture on a covert mission and begins finding out pertinent information on what happened to Theo’s family. As he continues on his mission he begins falling for her. Can she overcome all the sadness and danger surrounding her to find love? Who is responsible for the tragedy that has befallen her husband and son? If you like a bit of intrigue, CIA and the fashion industry then these elements will certainly appeal to you. Thank you #NetGalley for the ARC all opinions are my own.
This is like every other Danielle Steel book I have ever read. The sentences are short and simple. The plot is basic and predictable. She must get paid by the word because she repeats herself on NUMEROUS occasions. I could start two thirds into the book and know in one chapter what the story is and who the main characters are. That being said, I have read her books most of my life and will continue to do so. They are pleasantly simple and sometimes that is exactly what is needed to put life back on the right track. I always have, and I always will, recommend Danielle Steel as a 'go-to' author.
This book had a very quick start. I felt like everything jumped in fast and a lot of info was provided right from the start, rather than being drawn out in the beginning the way some others have done. I found this book to be very different than Steel’s “usual” style. There was still the romance, the powerful characters, the talented writing; but this had more of a suspense style to it than previous works. It was good and I enjoyed it, but as a long time fan of this author, I prefer the style I am used to and the one I count on when I pick up one of her books. But I do not want to sway anyone to NOT read it, because it is a very good book. I just personally prefer what I am used to with her books. I am always in awe that one person can write as many books as she has and always have new topics to explore and create. She is such an extremely talented author and I always look forward to reading her books. I can absolutely picture this one being made into a movie, it would be fantastic. Fingers crossed!
Another great story from Danielle Steele. A suspense novel that intermingles loss, love, and intrigue.
Danielle Steel is one of the authors I turn to when I need a little break from the gory serial killer thrillers I usually enjoy and she never disappoints! Suspects like most of her books evokes many emotions from sadness to happiness. I loved that there was suspense and intrigue added to the romance. I would definitely recommend Suspects for a quick, easy read. Danielle Steel's writing style keeps you turning pages to see what's going to happen next
Danielle Steele really is an queen in the author world. She can write on any topic/storyline and make it her own with her signature style. She has written on so many different stories of life and tragedies and turned them beautiful.
This is a riveting story that is all at once sad, thrilling, and hopeful. The romance between Theo and Mike is well done, and the CIA thriller aspect of this novel is compelling. The main characters instantly draw the reader in and the book is filled with intrigue. Suspects by Danielle Steel is an intriguing romantic suspense. The story is told from the point of view of Theodora “Theo” Morgan and Mike Andrews. Theo owns an online clothing company that is a success. She married an older Frenchman, and they had a son, Axel. Unfortunately, Theo’s husband and son were kidnapped, and the case went sideways. The kidnappers killed both the husband and son leaving behind a devastated Theo. The case has yet to be solved and there are worries that the kidnappers will strike again since they only got half of the ransom. Mike Andrews is a CIA agent in New York. When Theo flies to New York to oversee the opening of a pop-up shop, Pierre de Vaumont is on the same plane. Pierre must be vetted before being allowed into New York which is how Mike becomes aware of Theo. Mike attends the opening of Theo’s New York pop-up shop and there is an instant connection. Mike wants to protect Theo. The only way to keep her safe is to find the men who kidnapped her husband and son. I enjoyed Suspects. it is a quick read that almost everyone will enjoy. Thank you to Random House via Netgalley and the author.
Suspects by Danielle Steel is one of those rare stories that does everything well ... romance, drama, and suspense with a touch of espionage. This book is full of high fasion and glamour as fans of Danielle Steel will love. The writing is descriptive. Fast and easy enjoyable read. Highly recommend.
Suspects is a romantic suspense story by Danielle Steel. It has two strong and likeable main characters, Mike is a CIA agent and Theo is one of the richest woman in the world and involved in the fashion industry. He lives in New York and she in Paris. This isn’t a light hearted romance at all. There is plenty of action and suspense. While it has a fairly predictable ending I thought it was an interesting enough story to keep me reading. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Suspects is my new favorite romantic thriller of the year! Blossoming romance and fast-paced action between a special agent and a fashion mogul leave viewers breathless between chapters. Theo is a widow, buried in work but Mike can't explain why he's drawn to her - his gentle persistence was so sweet, and I love the descriptions of his bachelor pad lol. The setting jets readers all around the world, making another perfect weekend escape for Danielle Steel's readers. Thanks to #netgalley for the opportunity to preview #Suspects - I really enjoyed it and am already eagerly anticipating her next release!!
I was so lucky to receive an advance copy of Suspects by Danielle Steel in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I love anything by Danielle Steel and loved this book as well. So good! I've read so many of her books that I've truly lost count. This book has lots of suspense and is an easy read. Do yourself a favor and read this ASAP, I promise you won't be disappointed.
Suspects is a suspenseful story which is a nice change from most Danielle Steel books. Steel is an expert storyteller and kept me wondering how this story would end. I highly recommend this book.
Another quick read from the famous author. I do enjoy how they flow. This was a store of a big agency and the women who were harassed by the head guy. It’s never okay to put up with sexually harassed and being touched when you are not wanting to be. Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this.
I have been a Danielle Steel fan since the 80s. She never fails to deliver interesting and engaging stories and this one is no different. I loved the plot and intrigue with Suspects and devoured the book quickly. Her dialogue and characters are some of the best!!
Intrigue, suspense and romance. Theo is a mogul in fashion owning the largest conglomerate of high end luxury clothing and goods. Her husband and son were killed after being kidnapped. Though she is American, she lives in Paris and her husband has a chateau in the French countryside. Who is responsible for their murders? Hint: working with Russians does not end well.
Mike Andrews is a career CIA officer. He becomes intrigued with the murder of Theo's husband and son and follows up on the case with foreign service agents. It leads him to form a relationship with Theo which neither one expected.
Is the mystery solved? You will want to keep reading to find out!
I received a complimentary copy or this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Danielle Steel's latest is a suspense novel. Fiordora is devastated by the lost of her husband and her son. She now has to run her fashion business besides her husbands. After being a recluse for a year, she meets a CIA agent that becomes invested in her safety. Will Fiordara take a chance to have love in her life again? Read this novel to find out what Fiordora has to endure to live her life again.
Loved Suspects, as I do all Danielle Steel novels. Her knack for writing stories that are intriguing and captivating is like no other. Anytime a new Danielle Steel comes out, I know I will love it.
A journey of healing, growth and awakening! Steele was quick to grab my attention with this storyline and the connectability of her main character. I was engrossed in both the drama of what had happened to her family and in the subtle danger that seemed to be lurking around her. Once she met Mike and their relationship began to develop, I was fully entrenched.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a hint of danger mixed with a growing romance as the heroine picks up the pieces of her broken world and begins to live again.
