Sorry but a pass from me because of the unrealistic portrayal of a CIA officer (not agent), I've always been a fan of Steel and I'm willing to grant more than a little license to authors who want the CIA to do things it doesn't and isn't legally allowed to go however this time, it's a no. This would worked nicely had the hot CIA "agent" been say, an FBI agent or a DHS agent. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I'm looking forward to Steel's next offering.
Theo is a rich mysterious lady. She is immersed in the world of fashion, owning her own business and managing her late husband's business. She has been thru a great deal. Her husband and son were kidnapped with tragic results and her own safety seems to be so at risk that she has her own personal security. Many people try to infiltrate her cloistered, secured, and lonely world but none seems successful until Mike stumbles in. With his usual laser-like focus as a CIA agent, he finds there is much unfinished business in the shady international world and that Theo might just well be a target of mayhem again. HIs intuition is matched only by his attraction to her. Intrigue, suspense, a beautiful woman, and a challenge at love are all hallmarks of Danielle Steele. Despite the fact that all her heroines are beautiful and eventually well off if not filthy rich, and we know that eventually, all will be well in a troubled woman's life her books are still a fresh and entertaining read, and her stories interesting. Tales of love in a messed up world are her trademark and she tells them so well. Suspects is another Steele winner. Thanks to #NetGalley#Suspects for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I have to say that I’ve enjoyed Danielle Steele’s books she’s written in the last several years. They have a different tone to them! This one was no exception. I enjoyed the danger, suspense, and romance. It was a quick, enjoyable read. Thanks to the publisher for an advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own!
Thank you Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC in exchange for my honest review. The Queen (Danielle Steel) has done it again. I absolutely loved this book.
A perfect cozy book to read on a rainy day. Mayhem and all it entails. The book takes us on a journey that only Danielle knows how to do to capture our attention.
I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I could not take the time to finish this book. Definitely not the Danielle Steel writing I normally enjoy.
Theodora Morgan is the founder of a highly successful online shopping service. After her husband and son are kidnapped and eventually killed, she goes into hiding. That is, until she finds herself in New York for the opening of her company's newest pop-up shop and meets Mike Andrews, a CIA operative posing as a lawyer. With her life in danger, Theodora and Mike find themselves drawn to one another while Mike tries covertly to protect Theo.
Hmm.
I've always heard about Danielle Steel's books but I never went as far as to look into them. Despite this, I always wanted to read her books because Blanche Devereaux told me to (if you know, you know). I hope this is just one bad egg among many much better ones because this book was not for me.
Anyone who is looking for a suspense novel, continue looking. I didn't except it to be 75 percent suspense with 25 percent being romance but I did expect a balance. Despite being told Theo's life was danger, it never felt like it. There was no sense of urgency in the book.
The romance was not much better. By chapter five (or roughly around thirty percent of the book), Mike is already insinuating that he and Theo could possibly be soulmates. There are a lot of references to them having a strong connection that is unexplainable at this point. They've only had one date besides their initial meeting where Mike bought something from her shop. As much as we're told they have a connection, I just didn't see it. I didn't see any chemistry from the start.
It was an okay book but not one I would suggest for someone wanting to read a blend of suspense and romance.
I am not sure how this author does it, but every one of her books is a little different but all a delight to read! Danielle Steel is a master storyteller. Suspects is a romantic suspense novel, and it will not disappoint fans of this genre. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC of this title!
Having read most of the books written by Danielle Steel, I have to say this was not one of my favorites. I am not a big fan of suspense/intrigue type books and had a hard time getting through this one.
Those readers who enjoy this type of book will enjoy it with the all intrigue and romance that takes place.
I received a copy of the book from Random House Publishing – Ballentine and NetGalley. The opinions expressed are my own.
Danielle Steel's newest book is the story of Theodora (Theo) Morgan, a very successful fashion maven. When Theo's husband and child are kidnapped and held for the ransom, the hostage situation ends in tragedy. Soon Theo finds herself the target of an evil Russian businessman. But she finds a white knight in Mike Andrews, a CIA operative who comes to her rescue and provides her with a new opportunity to fall in love.
Readers looking for a thriller will probably be disappointed in this book. But Steel's thousands of fans will likely be pleased with the story. It doesn't work as a suspense novel, but it works fine as a romance novel peppered with elements of the thriller genre. As usual, Steel's prose reads quickly, and she knows how to tell an entertaining plot, even if this one is a bit far-fetched and lacks enough details to make it believable.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy in exchange for my views.
How does this woman do it? She keeps grinding out new books like it’s not even a thing—like, it’s no work at all; they just write themselves—and they are absolutely fabulous, especially this one. She can’t be real, right? She’s a goddess. That’s the only answer.
With her latest offering, Danielle Steel will delight longtime fans and new readers with a romantic suspense tale as only she can do it. Theodora (Theo) Morgan is still reeling over the previous year’s kidnapping of her husband and son, an incident resulting in Theo’s need for constant protection. Enter Mike Andrews, the hunky CIA agent who will give his all to keep Theo safe from harm.
Suspects is equal parts romance and suspense. It will envelope you in hope, comfort you with promise, thrill you with espionage, and satisfy you with dreams fulfilled. It’s entertaining, intriguing, and engrossing. It’s the perfect blend of all things scrumptious in Booklandia. Don’t miss it.
Suspects by Danielle Steel is a romance/suspense novel that follows the point of view of both main characters. Theo is a fashion designer who has a very successful online store. Mike is a veteran CIA officer. Their paths cross as Mike becomes obsessed with protecting her from evil men who kidnapped and killed her husband and son. After a problem with the ransom payment, they are set on trying to kill her. I loved the characters and the story was interesting and easy to read. I didn’t want to put it down. Steel’s books just keep getting better over the years. Thanks NetGalley for allowing me to read the ARC of this book.
This is a Romantic Suspense. This book follows and is told through the point of view of the two main characters (Theodora Morgan and Mike Andrews). Theodora "Theo" Morgan is a highly sought-after retail designer. Sadly, her husband and 13-year-old son were kidnapped for ransom last year, resulting in tragedy. The case remains unsolved, and Theo lives with the constant threat of danger. She requires 24/7 protection. A business trip to New York brings Theo into contact with handsome CIA agent Mike Andrews. Is he able to protect Theo from the brutal kidnappers? Suspects was a quick, likable read with strong characters who you root for. I enjoyed this book. It is full of glitz, glamour, and international intrigue

This is one of my favorite Danielle Steel’s novels to date because of the extremely intense storyline and the fearless heroine that perseveres despite the terrible obstacles thrown her way. A treat of a read!
I have been an avid reader of Danielle Steel since I was 14. I do enjoy those novels that she writes where there is suspense and often dangerous elements, along with romance. This book contained all of those things.
Theo owns a popular fashion business and has had tragedy in her personal life. Mike is a CIA supervisory operative who investigates a high-society man who has insinuated himself into Theo's life. Theo and Mike become involved and Mike works to keep Theo safe as she is in danger more than once. They also find that a long distance relationship is not easy, especially with the lives that they lead.
I found this book enjoyable, as I do most of Steel's novels. The plot was a bit predictable, but I find that sometimes I seek that out in her books. Theo is a strong female personality who has suffered great loss, but she still needs Mike. Mike has his own history and must come to terms with it and must ensure that he doesn't hold Theo back.
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!
i liked this book alot. the only thing that was different was some of if it was about the Russians. but none the less the characters are wonderful the story kept you interested. the only issue I had was the ending but definitely a great book to read.
Suspects is a fast-pace, suspense novel. Danielle Steelers novels never let me down and Suspects is no exception.
This is a fast-paced novel about Mike Andrew a CIA supervisor and Theodora Morgan owner of a online fashion company. Theo was have a hard time with the kidnapping and murder of her husband and son. They know that must have a Russian connection because of her husband business. The case was never solved which required protection for Theo. Mike was watching a man that was a Russian with questionable relationships with people that might be connected to the kidnapping. Mike decided to keep A eye on Theo.
The characters were well written and really likable. Its a story that will pull you from the very beginning. This book was so great that I wasn't ready for it to end.
I recommend everyone who loves a great story with adventure, romance and intrigue.
I rate this book a 5 out of 5
I received this complimentary book from the publisher through netgalley for a honest review. All thought and opinions are mine and mine alone.
Theodora has reluctantly gone back to work a year after her husband and son were kidnapped and murdered. The case hasn’t been solved and there are fears the kidnappers could come after Theodora. CIA Agent Mike Andrews is investigating someone when he comes across Theodora and is concerned for her safety, he is also attracted to her. You can always count on being entertained with a Danielle Steel book. This is a fast read with some suspense and a romance. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
Romantic suspense at its best and a novel to savor.
Many thanks to Random House and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Theo is a wealthy woman who has suffered an unimaginable tragedy. Mike is an agent who finds her case shocking and hard to believe that it was never solved. His good instincts will keep her safe but what about him.?
Danielle Steele is one of my favorite authors. She never disappoints me.
