In this feel-good romance, the Black Widow of Whitehall once again scores a bullseye as she tasks Lucas Lyon with escorting Miss Beatrix MacGlory to Edinburgh, where she is to meet her betrothed. Beatrix is quite happy with the match her father has engineered for her but experiences unsettling feelings in the company of Lucas. Lucas is furious that his aunt has made arrangements without consulting him, especially when he realizes that not only will he be accompanied by the beautiful young woman on his journey, but her aunt and scrunch-faced beastie as well. Under the watchful eye of Aunt Harriet an attraction grows between Lucas and Beatrix, to the extent that once they reach Edinburgh, it becomes evident to Aunt Harriet that the fat is truly in the fire. Beatrix's father, who is also Lucas' employer, is not at all pleased about developments and there are others who would also thwart their plans. It takes misspoken words and some goodwill on the part of others to turn the plot around, bringing this romance to a rousing and hilarious conclusion. I received a copy of this entertaining novel as a gift from Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Lucas is forced by his aunt to escort Beatrix and her aunt from London to Scotland. After spending several days together, he comes to find the beautiful heiress to be an intelligent and kind young woman. Beatrix is traveling to Scotland to see who her father wants to match her up with. They realize they only want each other. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.
