I absolutely loved this story! The characters are great and I was drawn right in. There's a little mystery, some suspense, sexy romance, and a unique twist on the paranormal genre. I'm excited for book two!

I always enjoy books by author Stacey Kennedy and What the Fang, didn't disappoint!

This book is the perfect balance between fantasy, wholesome characters and spicy romance. "What the fang" tells the story of a witch without powers who lives in a vampire city with her cute cat-dragon (he reminded me so much of my little demon cat). She owns a bookshop (my dream job) and lives a quiet life until vampires start attacking her.

What the Fang? is a quick read with less than 200 pages. It centers around Willa who is a witch that was banned from her coven for not coming into her powers. She also has a small dragon companion that is like a dog. The characters were likeable and the story kept me entertained.

Initial Thoughts/Expectations: As a fan of a few of Stacey's other books (she's got a HUGE catalog, and I'm not quite caught up yet), I expected to find the same fun, easy writing style and engaging characters. I hadn't read any paranormals by her yet, so I was super excited to jump into this one.

What I Loved: Can I just say "all of it"? That's a thing, right? LOL! I really enjoyed that it was an "open world" story. The supernatural characters were just there, without the added stress of having to hide themselves from society. I loved Willa and her besties... their ease with each other and their banter. I loved Ambrose!!!! <3 I loved how calm and steadfast Killian was. Even when he didn't quite know exactly what was happening, he still managed to seem in control of things.

I loved Willa and Killian together. Even though it happened very early in the story, it didn't feel awkward or rushed to me. And one of my very favorite things was that once they were together, they were together. All of the conflict came from outside sources. They were solid. <3

I was a bit worried about the first major "reveal" in figuring out Willa's situation. What the cause was, and who was behind it, but ended up really loving how Stacey handled it. I laughed every time her friends were "summoned" to her side, and the immediately following "oops" factor!! As much as the ending started to get a wee bit predictable, there were a couple of cool surprises I totally didn't see coming!! And did I mention how much I love Ambrose?? <3

What I didn’t Love: *crickets*

Final Thoughts: As expected, Stacey Kennedy delivered a fantastic paranormal romance that had me fully engaged from page one. The characters were fun and easy to relate to, and getting to meet them was a perfect way to spend an afternoon. I can. not. wait. for December to continue their story!!

What the fang? Offers a fun take on an old concept, that of witches and vampires living among (to an extent) humans and taking part in the modem everyday. Following the rare, magicless witch Willa who owns a bookstore in a vampire town, we journey into vampire politics and what appears to be a forbidden romance.

Except we don't.

Instead weare met with a bunch of supposed adults who behave like young teens, speaking in childlike-yet somehow smutty puns and dress/ behave like badly written fanfiction characters.

The story centres around a complete Mary Sue who's only flaw turns out to be her strongest power. Her relations with everyone around her are exceptionally 2 dimensional despite how often the author tries to tell us otherwise and the relationship she develops with Killian is too much, too fast and too unbelievable, even in a story where witches and vampires exist.

f you are looking for a quick, spicy paranormal romance with vampires that can fly, witches & a really good story, look no further than What the Fang? By Stacey Kennedy.
The main character Willa Farington has a bookstore & a pet dragon named Ambrose! Need I say more??
It was super fast-paced, full of action & showcases so much love with epic friendships, drama-filled family & a spicy new relationship.
I appreciated that her handsome vampire is an alpha male that wants to fix everything & help the heroine but he asks her what she wants/needs & allows her to choose how things are handled.
I thought the premise of their world & history was very interesting. Humans are aware of the existence of vampires & witches but because of their tumultuous history, with vampires & their need to feed, humans are leery. They’ve come to an agreement that there are three designated vampire cities which are Charleston, New Orleans & Savannah.
Because it was short, it ended really quickly but I loved how it came together & I can’t wait to hear what happens next!! December 2022, hurry up please!
*Massive thanks & appreciation to NetGalley & Stacey Kennedy for allowing me to read this awesome book!!

Extra details that I loved about the story:
Instead of taking one’s pet outside to go to restroom, she has to let him out to go fly! I was so amused by that.
“For fang sakes” is used, which I found clever.

This book is so fast-paced that everything felt rushed and hurried. The characters lacked depth and while the plot was promising and interesting, it was ruined because of the pacing. Aside from the pacing and characters’ lack of depth, the book was good and I did enjoy the world the author built. However, while I liked the book, I’m disappointed in what it could’ve been because it had so much potential. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book was so ‘cute’! I’m not sure if cute is the right word for a book with bad guys and good guys, but some how the author did just that! I loved the use of “what the fang” instead of using the other f word. I don’t always like this type of love connection between the main characters, but I think this one worked. Thank you NetGalley and Xpresso book tours for introducing me to a new author.

Spooky Season is definitely more of a mentality than an actual time of year, and this book shows just why that is! This is a fun and flirty read — with all sorts of wicked deliciousness.

Stacey Kennedy does a wonderful job of getting you into the world and catching you up on its mythology and happenings quickly. The rest of the book is tightly written, and, while the dialogue and characterization is abundant, nothing ever feels excessive. All the scenes are set well — without ever diving into over-loquaciousness. Perhaps the best part of the book is how, these 198 pages, you really grow to care about the characters; they’re vibrant and quirky and real. Plus, there’s a miniature-sized pet dragon, which, alone, is worth the price of admission.

As much as I was loving where things were going in this book, it almost felt like the end came too soon and surprised even the author. The climax felt a little fast, and the romance felt a tad overwrought (mostly in relation to its depth). Still, this book is an engaging and quick read, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how this book develops into a whole series. The first book has already cast a spell on me!

Special thanks to NetGalley and Stacey Kennedy for proving me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

(Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.)

Ever since reading The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling last October, I’ve been hunting down other lighthearted Halloween romances to fill the void. If you were a fan of that book, you will be a fan of What the Fang? by Stacey Kennedy!

I enjoyed that this paranormal romance was sweet and heartfelt and packed a lot of plot packed into a relatively short number of pages. The ending tied things up nicely while still allowing an open door for the sequel (Oh Fang!, due out December 2022). Killian was the mysterious, protective love interest we love to see in romances like these — brooding on the outside, warm and gooey on the inside. The supporting characters added nice substance and dimension to the story (special shout-out to Ambrose, the adorable puppy-like dragon who stole the show — and my heart — on several occasions).

A couple of minor gripes: there were a number of info dumps that stalled the momentum of the plot. This information could have been woven in a lot more seamlessly or even eliminated entirely. I appreciate when an author respects the intelligence of their audience’s ability to infer information (like, for example, when explaining dragons as pets — I easily understood Ambrose was like a dog from the way he behaved; the whole backstory about dragons in Romania seemed unnecessary to me). The spice was a little generic for my tastes and the romance seemed almost secondary to the central plot, but these are mostly personal preference things.

I’m also not convinced by the book’s title. With a title like “What the Fang?”, I expected this to be more like a rom-com, poking fun at itself and with more humor peppered through the plot. While the story was mostly lighthearted, there was enough gravitas that the cheeky title didn’t match up with the tone of the storytelling.

Overall, I enjoyed this lovely little romance for some sweet Halloween fun in January. Recommended for readers who want a soft introduction to paranormal romance or who like their fantasy balanced with some sweetness.

This is a short light paranormal read about a witch Willa and vampire Killian. A quick funny read where Willa is discovering her origin and who her family really is.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley

i am not goint to lie.. I have 0 expectations for this and truly I picked it up because I liked the cover.

umm this book had NO business being this good. AUDACITY.
Yup if this is a perfect example of the authors work(she is new to me) I will now be reading her entire backlist.
I loved that yes there were silly puns and phrases like My goddess and the classic What the Fang... but the story felt real!
And umm Killian may be 2022s book boyfriend. He was EVERYTHING you want in a book boyfriend.. and in real life lets be real..

PLEASE tell me book 2 is ALSO about them>?!!!

Ohhh boy, mid way I didn’t know if I was or wasn’t liking the romance but it definitely turned out fantastic. At first I thought it was a bit rushed into but after a bit it seemed to just flow into the story. Can’t wait for the next one to see what happens next!

What the Fang? by Stacey Kennedy is the first book in the Undead Ever After series and Ms Kennedy has certainly delivered a fast-paced, exciting and humorous story to thoroughly entertain. The storyline is well-written and easy to follow, and the characters are engaging, spirited, loyal and genuine too. I’m an avid reader of Ms Kennedy’s contemporary work, so this is my first venture into her paranormal writing, but I wasn’t disappointed. There seems to nothing this author can’t do! I’m looking forward to the next captivating story and I’m sure I will be just as addicted to this series as all Ms Kennedy’s others.

Light , quick read. I enjoyed the characters , sometimes it felt like things worked out a little too easily without much drama but still fun. Enjoyed the dragon!

All I want is to have a dog sized dragon now.
Magic-less witch Willa resides in vampire inhabited Charleston. After being attacked one night at her bookstore, she finds that she has a telepathic bond with the city’s vampire warden.
If you are a fan of hot vampires, hidden powers, and supernatural sexy times then this is the book for you! I absolutely loved the storyline and, despite it being less than 200 pages, this book was well paced out and didn’t really feel rushed at all. Since the magic system includes fated mates, there is a bit of an instalove feel, however there was definitely still a buildup to the romance and it, again, didn’t really feel rushed.

My first book by this author and I really enjoyed her writing.

I enjoyed the banter and characters throughout the book, I love Willa and of course heart for Killian, but I wish there was a deeper development of their relationship and have hope in the next book there will be more. I loved the side characters and know we will see more of them in the next book too. The twist and turns in the book I didn't always see coming which I enjoyed but they weren't so far out of reach that you lost the book. A great start to a wonderful series.

This was actually rather surprising. I was expecting a cute romance between a witch and a vampire but you get so much more!

Willa is the only witch in a vampire driven town. She loves her two vampire best friends, her bookshop and her pet dragon. That is until she is targeted by other vampires and the warden of the town protects her.

This novel has humour, romance, “oh shit moments” and felt so bad for the mc. It has spice and just everything you want in a novel.

I really liked how quick and easy it was and could be such a good starter to low fantasy.

I really loved the characters, and may have found myself a new book boyfriend because killian is just 🥵

This was a little predictable at times and I did have to roll my eyes a few odd times but I throughly enjoyed this novel. I did get accepted this the day it was published but I smashed it and read it throughout the day, including in between work and napping.

I cannot wait for the next one already! I’m really looking forward to what the next one will bring!

Thank you negalley and the publishers for allowing me to read the arc of this book!!

Sometimes all you need is a quirky title to catch your attention to make you want to read a book. In the case of What the Fang?, that’s what happened to me. Lucky me the book lived up to its title. Quirky, fun filled with interesting characters, I devoured this book in one sitting.

Up until now, Willa had been leading a quiet life running a bookstore in an all vampire town. Now she finds herself under attack for reasons she doesn’t know. Lucky for her the Warren of Charleston arrives just in time to save her. Needing to find answers behind Willa’s attack, the two embark on a journey to unravel the mystery and to discover why they have an unusual connection.

Willa, a broken witch with no powers and shunned from her coven, is just so adorbs. Her friends are quite the comical characters. Add to that she has a pet dragon. Yes, a DRAGON! Killian - oh man, Killian! He is Warden of Charleston and supposed to be the most feared vampire in the city but inside he is so much more. The journey they take to find out who is after Willa is fast-paced and full of mysterious surprises. Lot’s of secrets are revealed and quite a few of them…let’s just say were very unexpected.

I loved this book. It was just so fun with great characters. I know this is supposed to be a series but honestly, the story felt very complete. Not quite sure how or where the author is going to go with the next book, but I know I’ll be sticking around for it. New fans and old of author Stacey Kennedy are going to enjoy this book.
