Witches, dragons, and a dark brooding vampire? Sign me up!

Willa Farrington is a witch living in a vampire's city running a successful bookshop in town. When one day she is randomly attacked, and somehow ends up summoning the Warden of her city, Killian, they realize they both have a lot more to discover. Willa and Killian must work together to find out the truth behind the attacks, as well as the truth of what is between them.

This is a romance and low-fantasy read that I recommend to all fans of the genre. Pick up for a quick cute read that still gives you all the feels.

Thanks to NetGalley for this arc.

A great book about vampires and witches. I liked the heroine however I felt the romance was rushed. Great dialogue and characters.

Immediate Reaction: This fast-paced supernatural book has all the makings of a perfect reading afternoon.

The spoiler-free summary: Willa Farrington’s magic is broken. She has failed her summer solstice and has been finally accepted that she is a witch with no magic. After being exiled by her coven she packs up and moves to Charleston where vampires currently rule. One night as she was being attacked by the gorgeous Warden of Charleston, Killian Constantine shows up and saves her. The weird part is how did she tele[pathically reach out for his help?

All the things I loved:

The pace: It's fast, blink and you'll miss it fast. I usually don't go for books like that but this time it kept me in the book.
The Plot: This is a fast-paced book. It is a witchy “the chosen one” book first and a romance second.
The way she data dumped. In paranormal/fantasy books there tends to be A LOT of explanations. I feel like this author did a great job at describing it without boring me.
The characters were amazing and so supportive of each other! Her friends were top tier!

The things I didn't love:

I know it's a story about a witch with no magic but I wish we got more magic lol

Final Thoughts: Buy it, read it, listen to it, or borrow it from your local library (mine was an advanced reader copy from Netgalley). I hope you like it as much as I did.

This is the first book I’ve read from this author and wow, was I in for a treat! The story drew me in right from the start and I found the heroine very relatable. One of my favourite characters was her adorable pet dragon, who stole the show in every scene he was in. There is plenty of chemistry between the hero and heroine, plot twists galore, fun secondary characters and enough action to keep even the most hard to please reader happy. I was thrilled, after finishing the book, to discover that the author has a whole list of previous books for me to binge read next!

**Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this ARC. I'm providing my honest review willingly.**

The only complaint I could have about this book was that it was only 198 pages long - much too short when it was such a wonderful read! Despite its page length, what Stacey Kennedy set out to show in this book was wrapped up by the final page, with the promise of more to come in the next installment later this year.

I loved everything about this book. From the first line of the book I was hooked, and both characters and plot were written in a way that was engaging and addictive. I knew as soon as Willa described Killian on first look that I'd be hooked on him for the rest of the novel. As someone who read a lot of vampire novels as a teen, there's nothing better than the broody, stoic vampire who turns out to have a heart of gold and a willingness to protect and care for those he loves. After all these years, I was sucked into this world (pun intended) and thoroughly enjoyed the magic, the fangs, the witty puns (I will now proceed to say "what the fang" and "oh fang" in casual daily conversation), and delightful desire throughout this book.

Did I mention Willa has a dragon? No? Well, I have now, and if Killian didn't cement my interest, Ambrose certainly did. I loved all the elements that made this book both wholesome with the need for Willa to find her place in the world and a darker underlying threat around magic and power. The author executed this balance with ease, and not a page felt dull or unneeded. The characters, Ambrose included, all helped this story along and felt like more than just plot markers, which impresses me that Kennedy achieved this with such a little page count. I also liked the twists along the way and was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong by which family member was pulling the strings.

The romance between Killian and Willa was believable, even if their connection was quick. That comes down to a part of the plot that predictably comes through in the end, but I still felt their need for the other palpable and real. The steamier scenes were tastefully written and placed well within the book.

What the Fang? isn't life-altering, but what I expected coming into this novel was checked off with such wit and skill by the end of the read that it is an easy 5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This reminded me so much of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, and in such a good way. I’m not sure if it was because of their similarity where it just felt like I was falling back into a world I already knew, but I devoured this in less than 24 hours.

The novel is witchy and vampire-y but not in an overwhelming way. There’s a lot going on too and a lot of world building, but it’s such an easy read that it all makes sense.

I really enjoyed this light and fun read. My only complaint is that it’s very little enemies to lovers and kind of instant love. But Kennedy gets to the point quickly in a lot of the storylines, so it fits with the tone of the novel.

Willa Farrington’s magic is broken. Shunned by her coven for failing to pass the Summer Solstice Rite, Willa escapes to the one place no witch belongs – Charleston, a city that belongs to vampires. Determined to embrace her new life, Willa opens Cauldron Boil Books, and unexpectedly finds some friends among the vampires…

Until one terrible night Willa ends up on the wrong side of a pair of fangs. Thankfully, her captor’s plan is ruined when Killian Constantine, the drop-dead gorgeous Warden of Charleston, shows up to save her. But just when Willa thinks she’s safe, Killian, rumored to be the most feared vampire in the city, furiously demands to know why she – a witch – telepathically called him for help.

Intent on finding answers, the two embark on a journey to unravel the mystery behind Willa’s attack and their unusual connection. As they get closer to the truth, the fiery passion between them ignites. But their forbidden romance isn’t making them many friends, and just as Willa starts to think that her entire existence is a lie, deadlier forces come out of the shadows. She will need to believe in her malfunctioning magic, trust bloodthirsty vampires, and cross her fingers that she and Killian make it out together… and that neither end up dead.

What a delight this book is. It's funny, romantic and original. I love Willa's dragon. Killian is interesting and Willa is very likable. The friends are great too. Reminds me a little of Mary Janice Davidson's series. Looking forward to more books in this series...

Thanks to the publisher for this arc.

Vampires and Witches…. Oh my!

This story is about a Witch that has been banished from her coven and finds refuge in Charleston, which happens to be taken over by vampires. She owns a bookstore and is attacked for a reason she is not aware of.

This was a fun read! I really enjoyed the plot based off of the witch, Willa. She finds friendship, love, and family in this book. I am very excited that it will have another book after. It definitely leaves you wanting more.

This read is steamy and spicy.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Stacey Kennedy for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I truly enjoyed this book. This is the first in a new series. It is a fun paranormal romance, with bits of mystery and of course some bad guys. It reminded me a little of the Undead series. The characters are so much fun! I loved Ambrose-who wouldn't want a pocket dragon? Killian is an interesting guy and Willa is a delight. She is blessed to have amazing friends Gwen and Finnick. This is a fairly quick, just pure fun read. 4 stars I think that most paranormal romance readers will enjoy.

The cute cover really catches the eye. This is a fun, fantasy, paranormal romance and the first in a new series. The author creates a world where witches and vampires freely live in the open. Willa Farrington is a witch with no powers. She is banished from her coven after failing the Summer Solstice Rite. Moving to Charleston, one of the three cities that vampires control, she opens a successful bookstore. One night after closing she is attack and somehow telepathically calls for help. Killian Constantine, the city Warden answers her cry of distress.

Together they try and figure out who is after her and why she can communicate with him. This leads to revelations about her past and a big show down. I love little touches of humor, especially Ambrose, her runt pet dragon. This is playful, exciting and steamy fun in a paranormal world. I predicted a few things but was surprised by others. I am new to the author and enjoyed the world she created. I'm not a huge paranormal reader but will eagerly look forward to the next in the series. Readers who enjoy witches and vampires will want to read this. Thank you NetGalley, Xpresso Book Tours and Stacey Kennedy (the author) for an eARC in exchange for an honest review. (4.5 stars)
