This was not the book I was expecting. Loved Boyfriend Material and the cast of funny, likeable characters. Thankfully those characters return and save this novel from the boredom of Luc and Oliver not dealing with their relationship and Luc just being whiny for the entirety of the book. The novel is about staying true to oneself and only to your own definitions of who you are, which thankfully the main characters finally address, but in the last couple of pages. Ending was too quick, but it does push the very narrow definition of a Happily Ever After within romance novels. Overall, disappointed, but will gladly read whatever's next from Hall. To read Hall at their best, read A Lady for a Duke.

I LOVED Boyfriend Material, so I was really excited for this one. While I did enjoy it, I didn’t love it as much as the first. However, Alexis Hall is amazing and alwaysssss a must read for me.

I was given an advanced reader's copy via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own

I really enjoyed the beginning of this book, but it lost me at the middle and end. I found their relationship dynamics became a bit strained and I think there was a lot of character growth needed that did not happen. I don’t think I ultimately wanted this couple to stay together. However, Alexis is witty and brilliant as always and it was still quite fun to read. Overall, not my favorite from this author.

While not as enjoyable as Boyfriend Material, it was fun to see the relationship between Luc and Oliver grow and change. And who doesn't love wedding chaos?

4/5 ⭐️
The ending was quite unexpected but expected because of everything going between them. I still really enjoyed reading this book although there were parts where i wished they would communicate more but there still was cute moments between them working together . There were interesting turns in the book that still made sense considering both of their personalities, This was a delightful follow up since the first book with a ending that was really fitting :)

I enjoyed seeing these characters again but unfortunately the story did not deliver the way I had hoped. I enjoyed reading this but it felt like each section was a part of those fan fictions like five times they went to a wedding and the one time they go to their own. It was fun and enjoyable but I had hoped for more.

While I really loved Boyfriend Material, this sequel didn't do it for me, maybe because I just really wanted it to be only about Luc and Oliver from Boyfriend Material. Once over the fake dating / opposites attract phase, all their friends are getting married and the pressure is on to propose. Not a lot of character development, just a lot of plot and angsting. Maybe I just prefer the journey to the HEA and don't want to read about when things get real. Maybe it just felt a little too repetitive with wedding after wedding (but not the one we wanted).

I love Luc and Oliver and was so happy to revisit them in this book. It seems like every single person they know is getting married and the pressure is on to propose. This one is just pure fun and I would love to see this series as a tv series. It' has characters that I have grown to love with a great cast of side characters.

Thank you #Sourcebookscasa and #NetGalley fro an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Man this was a bummer. Boyfriend material was a top ten book for me. This was such a letdown. So dreary and doom and gloom. No humor at all.

“I guess. I guess because...me and Oliver. It’s always been…We shouldn’t work.”
“Oh, but you do,” Bridge insisted. “And I always knew you would.”

We absolutely adored Boyfriend Material (London Calling Book #1) and couldn’t wait for the release of Husband Material (London Calling Book #2) to devour the wonderful ongoing relationship between Lucien and Oliver.

“Romance me, baby. Romance me hard.”

They say opposites attract, and they don’t come more opposite than Luc and Oliver. Two men from different ends of the pole, yet, despite their difference, they work so well. They did. Until Husband Material, where we see doubt and self-preservation take hold of our two beautiful men.

“The truth is, I don’t quite know how we’re together. And it’s not that we’re fragile, it’s jus that we’re…our own thing.”

Husband Material is an MM rom com take on Four Weddings and a Funeral premise with a bit of The Vicar of Dibley thrown in by way of the kooky frustrating joking banter between Lucien and Alex. It’s a fun, sweet, madcap romp, that for the most part we found enjoyable and entertaining.

Both characters have had to deal with personal growth, which is evident in Husband Material, but for every step forward, there seemed to be two frustrating steps back. Oliver is still the pragmatic partner, Luc the highly strung other half, which works surprisingly well. The Ying to the Yang.

‘My head was starting to hurt. Talking to my boyfriend was actually giving me a headache.’

The relationship between Luc and Oliver felt quite different from the one we loved in Boyfriend Material. We understood their struggles some three years into their relationship, however, something felt ‘off’ in this book. We never felt as though they were a cohesive unit, something we absolutely felt in the first book. What was never in question was their love. This, we FELT!

“Lucien, you know you are the truest thing I have ever dared choose for myself.”

Laugh-out-loud moments, led to some totally zany situations that gave us a giggle, however, the length of the book, made some of these moments feel a tad repetitive causing the story to drag at times. Maybe our thoughts would have been different it the story was somewhat condensed.

There’s give and take, push and pull, plenty of sweet love, wackiness and some wickedly witty banter in Husband Material, and whilst we enjoyed it, it didn’t provide the same level of love we felt whilst reading Boyfriend Material.

With everything that occurred, it felt as though we went through a whole lot to get to a whole lot of nothing, however, in saying that, we can’t wait for the third book, Father Material when it releases. Luc and Oliver as parents would be one sweet and funny adventure!

I loved Boyfriend Material, but this sequel fell short for me. I don't think there was any real character development from the first novel, a lot of fights that would have been easily resolved with communication, and the ending was predictable. Overall there was a bit of humor and levity from the first book that shown through.

I thoroughly enjoyed Husband Material! While it was a little slower than Boyfriend Material, it had the same enigmatic characters and wit, and never failed to make me giggle. This series is a go-to recommendation for me!
4.25/5 stars!

Band 1 fand ich richtig super, habe mich deshalb sehr auf den Nachfolger gefreut. Band 2 ist sehr nett, kommt aber leider nicht an den ersten Teil ran. Trotzdem gute Unterhaltung.

Alexis Hall is a favorite - always a must read.
Be sure to read Boyfriend Material first and then this continuation of Luc + Oliver’s story, especially as I enjoyed Boyfriend Material more than this one

Luc and Oliver pick up where they left off in the first book in the series - in love, and growing together/apart. When all of Luc's friends seem to be getting married around him, he and Oliver tackle the question of whether or not they should do the same. It's a quick read that's sweet and hilarious.

Luc and Oliver have settled into their relationship nicely, and things seem to be going well. But when pressure mounts from the outside and major life changes occur, Luc and Oliver are forced to reexamine their love and how they can move forward in a way that's best for both of them. Alexis Hall brings these characters back in the charming sequel to Boyfriend Material and presents a realistic look at relationships - romantic, friendship, and familial.

I was thrilled when I got this ARC. Boyfriend Material was one of the first modern romance books I’d ever loved, and I was so excited to get my hands on its sequel.

This was such a nice look at Luc and Oliver’s relationship. They care deeply about each other. They put the other person first. They communicate well. That doesn’t mean everything is easy all the time, though. This book is about how their relationship has matured as they handle challenges.

I thought this was going to be a five star book for me. I laughed a lot, and it was a joy to be back with Oliver and Luc and their friends and Luc’s mom. But I can’t help feeling that the end was too abrupt, and we needed something to feel complete. It felt to me that the primary conflict, resolution, and end of the book all happened in three pages, and it left me feeling unsettled and a little bewildered. It wraps up completely, sure, but it’s also incredibly sudden. An epilogue really could have helped here.

But still, I enjoyed this. I devoured it. And I’d recommend it if you loved Boyfriend Material.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks!

I really enjoyed this follow on to Boyfriend Material. Luke is such an endearing mess of a man and Oliver is dry/grumpy but the steadiness that Luke really needs. It was fun going back to C.R.A.P. and all of the bad jokes.
I picked this read because it was part of a series, and hadn't realized that it's essentially Four Weddings and a Funeral.

I wish I'd liked this one as much as Boyfriend Material, but honestly, it felt a lot like more of the same - which is great in that Luc and Oliver are just as cute and stumbly as before, but also...like, it just felt like they hadn't really worked out the problems that they dealt with in the first book. I loved the focus on weddings, seeing all the secondary characters again, but Husband Material ultimately felt like it needed a good edit. The conclusion came way too long after we saw the conflict build. Just okay for me.
