No Parm No Foul is the first book I've personally read in Linda Reilly's Grilled Cheese Mystery series, and I ended up loving it. I was appreciative that it pretty much reads like a stand alone, and that I didn't feel like I was truly missing out on anything by not having read the first title before this one.

I thought the plot and mystery were both well done and original, and there's a plethora of suspects that keep our protagonist Carly guessing over the course of the story. There's a touch of romance that I really enjoyed, and plenty of warm fuzzy moments with Carly's many family and friends, and other secondary characters like the regular customers who visit her grilled cheese eatery on a regular basis.

I really enjoyed the quick witted writing style, and I never found that the story dragged or grew uninteresting throughout the development of the mystery. Perhaps my favorite part of all was honestly the setting though. I tend to love cozy mysteries that are set during the fall or winter, as I think it adds another element to the ambience, and the fact that this one takes place over the time period surrounding Halloween just made it that much more atmospheric. I also loved how the setting is Carly's grilled cheese eatery, and I found my mouth watering over the amazing descriptive passages about the sandwiches she serves her customers.

The only downfall with this one for me personally was that I had figured out the majority of the mystery quite awhile before the final reveal. However, I think that was more just a lucky guess on my behalf, and I don't feel that the author wrote it in a way that was too easy to figure out what was going on.

Overall, I feel that I've now found a new favorite cozy mystery series and this is right up there with ones from Krista Davis, Barbara Ross, and Julie Anne Lindsey. I can't wait to go back and read the first book in the series, and to read future books to come.

Final Rating: 5/5.

I can't recommend this one enough!

No Parm, No Foul is the 2nd book in the Grilled Cheese Cozy Mystery series by Linda Reilly.
This is such a great book and set during Halloween, this was so awesome fall being my favorite season.

I LOVED the first book in the series [book:Up to No Gouda|57599035] and was so excited to read this book.

I live in New England so it was fun to see Vermont as a setting.

Carly Hale, the protagonist is a well written, fun character, who is relatable and likeable.

The murder mystery was perfectly paced and plotted with no shortage of suspects.

I was surprised when the killer was revealed.

You will definitely want to eat a grilled cheese after reading this fantastic cozy mystery.

Can't wait for the next book int he series.

No Parm No Foul is the second book in the delightful Grilled Cheese Mysteries series by Linda Reilly.

This series follows amateur sleuth Carly Hale who returned to her hometown to open a Grilled Cheese eatery after the unexpected death of her husband.

To try and promote her new restaurant, Carly enters the Balsam Dell Halloween food competition, a friendly affair where the members of the community can vote for their favourite food stand. On the day of the competition, Carly is hopeful she can win, but then the winner’s announcement is delayed because someone tempered with the votes. She suspects Ferries Menard owner of Sub-a-Dub-Sub, competitor and her sort-of-nemesis to be somehow responsible. Things get a little more complicated when Ferries is found dead in his restaurant the next day.

It doesn’t take long for the police to put Ari Mitchell, Carly’s new boyfriend, on the list of suspects, and of course, Carly takes it upon herself to clear his name.

I absolutely adore this series! The cast of characters is great and well developed.

The mystery in this one was great! It was cleverly done, and I didn’t have a clue who the murderer was until it was revealed. Now that I know, I can appreciate all the little breadcrumbs Reilly sprinkled throughout the novel. I am not easily impressed by cozies, but this one gets 4 solid gold stars!

I highly recommend it!

What a cute mystery set in a cozy little restaurant complete with grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soup and some suspense. This is a new to me author and I enjoyed her style of writing. What topped it off where the easy to make recipes at the end. I will definitely look for more books by this author.

Carly Hale is back in book two of the A Grilled Cheese Mystery Series and, like book one, it made me crave grilled cheese creations the whole time I was reading. Carly is kind, hardworking, loyal, and protective of her friends and family. She is living her dream of owning a Grilled Cheese Cafe in the town where she grew up and attended High School. I like how the author uses, not just the town as a pool of characters, but also connections surrounding the High School. Like many cozy mystery heroines, Carly is not afraid to ask pointed questions. I think the author has found a good balance between curiosity and overstepping. The story is fast-paced and picks up after the first few chapters. I appreciate that we are given several red herrings and it kept me guessing who would be the killer until the end.

Thank you Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the arc.

I loved the first book so I knew I’d be continuing with the series. A grilled cheese restaurant is so perfect for a cozy series, especially this one being set during Halloween.

Carly’s restaurant is really coming along & she’s getting more regulars. Unfortunately after a tiff with a fellow competitor, he turns up dead & another mystery needs to be solved. I really enjoy the ambience of this series. The town sounds delightful & the characters are written so realistic, you’ll feel as though you’ve met them. The number of secrets & red herrings are just the right amount. I think the best part of this series is the coziness & believability of its characters & situations. I’m definitely looking out for future books!

No Parm No Foul by Linda Reilly is the second mystery in the Grilled Cheese Mysteries series. In this cozy mystery’s, restaurant owner, Carly, finds herself in search of a killer when her restaurant rival turns up murdered.

No Parm No Foul is the first book I have read in this series and I definitely enjoyed it. The characters were interesting and I enjoyed the storyline and the mystery itself. Sometimes I found Carly to be a little too nosy without tack but that was all part of her charm. I love the idea of a grilled cheese themed restaurant and would love to visit the restaurant in this mystery! I enjoyed No Parm No Foul and I look forward to going back and reading this first book in this series. If you are a cozy mystery fan, this is worth a read.

Second title in Linda Reilly's Grilled Cheese Mystery series, No Parm No Foul is full of food, grilled cheese and murder. Halloween is near and the Balsam Dell,VT restaurants are gearing up to participate in the annual ScariyLicious Smorgasbord competition. Carly Hale, owner of Carly's Grilled Cheese Eatery and her grill chef, Grant Robinson, prepare hopefully winning treats. Ferris Menard, owner of Sub-a-Dub-Sub is irate that Grant has quit his shop and makes a scene in Carly's place, in front of several customers including Carly's boyfriend Ari. When Ferris is found murdered after the competition, evidence makes Ari the prime suspect.. Of course Carly is determined to clear his name. However, her one problem is that almost anyone who interacted with Ferris is a suspect, giving her a long list of names. To expose the killer she receives a case cracking clue from an interesting source.
A fun to read whodunit with yummy recipes and good characters. Waiting for #3. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I had to make myself a grill cheese while reading this. I went and made a recipe in the back. It was so good and then I finished this book in one sitting. Ferris Menard, the owner of Sub-a-Dub-Sub, is nursing a serious grudge against Carly. Two days before the competition, one of Carly's employees quit his part-time gig at Menard's sub shop, sending Menard into a serious snit. In a confrontation at the Eatery, Menard accused Carly of sabotage and vowed to bring her down. It gets worse when Menard is found dead in his kitchen. Carly and her crew jump into investigation. This is a fun and keeps you craving grilled cheese through out.

This addition Ms. Reilly’s Grilled Cheese culinary series is a delight. After Carly had several public disagreements with Ferris Menard, he turns up murdered, making her one of the suspects. She starts snooping with the help of her friends and finds more than she expected. The characters have personality and the cafe interaction is spot on, for many places. She puts in some twists and turns and insight into the why on several suspects. There are recipes of course, at the end. This was a great read. I recommend for cozy lovers, especially if culinary is your bag.

Our favorite grilled cheese restauranteur is back at it again when someone close to her is suspected of murder. It's up to Carly and her determination to solve the case and find the murderer before she ends up next on their list! A great read with yummy recipes at the end!

In this second book, Carly has entered the Halloween festival cook off. But the Sub- A-Dub- Sub owner Farris Menard has it in for Carly and her Grill Cheese Shop. When Farris is found dead in his shop, Ari, Carly’s boyfriend looks to be the killer. Or is he? Now Carly must investigate to clear Ari’s name. This book was very entertaining and a fun light read. Another great book for this budding series. A bit Halloween themed, if you're looking for that sort of thing.

It was a another great Carly lead mystery. However, her teenage-esk attitude towards her relationship with Ari is boarder line annoying and adds nothing to the story but filler. Yes, I get couples have arguments but to think it's all over because he was worried about you when you thought he shouldn't have been. Thinking that made him controlling. If you want to see controlling boyfriends, I have a couple of ex's you should meet. Drop the love relationship drama or make it actual drama. Not a lot though, I don't read these for that. I actually wouldn't read these if there was relationship drama all the time.

Do, however,, have an editor have a computer use the speech feature read it back to them. Lots of little typos throughout the copy I read. Her instead of him and other little swaps or mistypes that may have been skimmed over in a rush to edit.

This ARC was provided to me by NetGalley. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

I love grilled cheese sandwiches so of course I had to read this series. I truly enjoyed the 1st one and was extremely excited to see that there was a second one in the series. It didn't disappoint, the story kept my me guessing on who did killed Carly's rival in the Halloween food competition. I would bounce back and forth between suspects which is something that I enjoy since it keeps my interest. I will say that Carly did get on my nerves at times, I felt she was very judgmental at times but I love that she has no filter. I've been told that I have no filter but I don't think that I could confront a murder suspect like she does. I can't wait for book 3 so that I can get to know the characters better, I feel now I am invested in Grant's future!

Great cozy mystery with a few good twists and turns. This one kept me guessing!
Carly is busier than ever running her Grilled Cheese Eatery, when her local rival is found stabbed in his restaurant. There are a lot of suspects, some motives that date back over twenty years, and lots of fingers pointing to Carly's boyfriend, Ari. As always Carly will have to do her own sleuthing to help clear Ari's name. Her biggest clues will come from an elderly customer that leaves sweet notes thanking Carly for her delicious lunches.
I love the characters in this series, the sandwiches make my mouth water, and there is always a little action and excitement. Highly recommend.
