Sophia is the party girl, living out her mid-20’s however she pleases. When she meets Danny, 10+ years older, his snark, creates immediate intrigue. As the grow closer, she learns he’s more that a cocky rich guy, and they learn if they are compatible enough or not.
This was a super cute romance. There is some low grade spice (detailed with some light kinks) which was nice, and overall the sass between the characters made it enjoyable. It addresses MH respectfully and overall was a nice read!

Hot girl summer is the quick read. The story was about a 26 year old who was trying to find herself and following her dreams.
The main character, Sophia/Summer , sees herself as nothing more than a party girl, but later we discover that this is a protective layer she has to protect herself from heartbreak and how her life changes when she learns her worth and discovers what she really wants. Hot Girl Summer brings together music, love, self worth, mental illness and friendship.
his story had a LOT of potential… but it fell short for me. It seemed to lack depth, and there were a lot of side characters/plots that didn’t ever get resolved/fully explained.
I enjoyed Sophie’s relationship with her sister, Kiki. CW: eating disorder.
I didn’t mind Sophie & Danny’s relationship but it just seemed meh. He was very hot and cold and I didn’t vibe with it.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Review:
Hot girl summer follows Sophia, a twenty something yoga instructor, also a "party girl" who navigates through life as an independent adult, including terrible dating life, superficial friends and get sister's eating disorder. Her life becomes more disturbed when she meets Danny Pearce, a charming, hot and very distracting musician. Even though she has sworn to casual hookups only, Danny seems make her heart flutter every time, they cross paths.
I really wanted to like this one because of the blurb but this didn't work out for me in the way I wanted. It's pretty evident that the authors has put a lot of love and efforts into her characters, especially Sophia with her very unique and distinct sassy character. I liked the sister dynamic here and Sophia's self growth and self discovery definitely made this book to be more than just a romance. Though, Sophia and Danny's relationship felt a bit flat for me. I would have liked this book more there was a dual pov because sometimes it wasba bit difficult to understand Danny's part of the thoughts, that's why I wasn't very satisfied with some of their descisions together. There was definitely good chemistry, banter and angst between them. The unnecessary side plot events were a bit distracting from the main event at some points.
Over-all, this was an enjoyable read and it was fast paced. It was an easy and quick read.
TW: eating disorders, sexual assault, mental health
When Sophia meets Danny, she’s just decided she’s over casual relationships. Danny is older, cocky, and exactly the kind of man she wants to avoid - yet she’s instantly attracted to him. They keep on bumping into one another and both realise they want more. But both of them are dealing with problems in their personal life, which threaten their fledgling relationship.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing a free copy of this book. I enjoyed reading it, but I have some mixed feelings. Firstly, I want to say the writing is very good - it’s really engaging and I think the author has a nice turn of phrase. I liked that it was set in the UK, that made a refreshing change, and the romance between Sophia and Danny was surprisingly sweet. They had good chemistry - there was a lot of sexual tension between them and when they finally began to act on their feelings their scenes together were steamy and well-written. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop over the course of the book.
This was a far gentler novel in some ways than I had been expecting; there’s a lot going on but at the same time it felt quite simple, structurally. Their relationship has some conflict but initially they pretty much see each other normally, with sort-of dates and actually talking and getting to know one another. I really liked that aspect of the book, as it gave a solid backbone to the relationship.
However, I struggled to warm to Sophia. This is a strange one for me as I normally really like characters with her vibe, but I found some of the decisions she made over the course of the novel confusing and hard to understand. I also thought she was a bit harsh at points towards other characters. I would say I admired the character more than liked her by the end - she was definitely very tough and determined, and I liked that the novel had her work and improve herself by the end of the book.
I also didn’t enjoy any of the external plot involving her group of friends. With the exception of Stefan and James, her two flatmates, her other friends came across very selfish and I was not invested in that drama at all. It came across very distracting and I’m not really sure what the point of it was - I don’t think that the book would have suffered at all to have that subplot removed. That said, the other subplot involving Sophia’s younger sister, Kiki, was handled very sensitively. It brought a much-needed softness to Sophia’s character - the scenes where she took care of Kiki were very touching, and I think I would have enjoyed it more if that storyline had been expanded more.
Overall I thought this was quite a solid book. I enjoyed it despite my issues with it, and I still rooted for the central romance which I think was developed very well; I also think that the author did a good job at tackling some of the novel’s more difficult subject matter with sensitivity. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a steamy age-gap romance, if you like your heroine with a sharper side.
More like 3.75
This book was a little different from what I was used to and it did take a little while to get into it originally.
Sophia- also known as summer- goes through life with her heart locked away so she doesn’t get hurt again. Until she meets musician Danny.
I really liked Sophia and Danny together I liked their banter and chemistry and how relatable Sophia was with her feelings.
I did think that I would see more of his ex but I’m kind of glad we didn’t.
There were a few times I was confused with what was happening and had to re-read a lot and the sentences always began the same way “two days later, the following day ect” it got a little repetive.
Overall I did enjoy it and the rep was really well written, and the fact that it was abuse against the love interest was very different but should be made aware more.
Check TW but thank you for netgalley And the publishers for allowing me to read this early.
Hot Girl Summer is about Sophia, a 20-something who is over dating losers and ready to launch her new career and life. One night she meets Danny, a confident and cocky musician and advisor going through a divorce. When fate continues to push them together, Sophia unexpectedly falls for Danny.
So, the premise for Hot Girl Summer sounded right up my alley. However, from the first chapter, I could tell I wasn't going to fall in love with the characters. While I can appreciate that Palermo's intention with Sophia was to create a relatable protagonist, for me, her smug personality and very questionable decisions made her unlikeable.
I also didn't feel warmly towards Danny and so I just couldn't connect with their relationship. There were also a lot of unnecessary secondary characters and subplots. I think if we shifted to Danny's point of view that might have given the book the depth I crave.
However, I did like Sophia's relationship with her sister (a redeeming factor) and Luca was a shining light.

Story:
Sophia DeLuca is over casual hook-ups. Between her sister’s eating disorder, her track record of falling for fuckboys, and a lifetime of being written off as a shallow flake, “failure to launch” may as well be her middle name.
Under false pretences and a fake name, she meets Danny Pearce, an obnoxious musician on the opposite end of the millennial spectrum. Danny is cocky, rude, and a contender for fuckboy of the year.
Opinion: Fun and exciting read. It was definitely a PT (page-turner). I appreciated being able to flip through the pages and not feel like the story was dragging!! I have been trying to read books that are romance but not so torturous and this one met the standards lol
I was in a reading slump when I started this book and the beginning really sucked me in. It had the same vibes as all the teen dramas I loved in high school. Kind of bad but in all the right ways and good drama with some fun sexual tension. This books main problem was the instead of writing a well developed episode of said drama they tried to fit the whole season in one book. There are so many sub plots that go nowhere or are barely developed. The only characters that have any real depth are Danny and Sofia but even they could have been better developed. I felt like a lot of their fights are never actually resolved. They just kind of get over it and like each other again. They go from enemies, to insta love, to forbidden love, to breaking up, to moving in together at a break neck pace. I did like some of the banter in the book and it did help me get out of my reading slump. But this book was kind of a hot mess.
Thank you netgalley and publisher for the ARC. All thoughts are my own.
Hot girl summer is a story of redemption, second chances and life itself. Though I felt this more inclined towards women's fiction than romance, it was clearly enjoyable.
The whole vibe of this book as me imagining such pretty places and beach and whatnot.

It was a quick, fun read. I would definitely recommend.
So I would give Hot Girl Summer a solid 3.5⭐️ rounded up to 4. This is the perfect book to read when on holiday or on a Sunday afternoon! Hot Girl Summer follows ‘party girl’ Sophia’s relationship with boys (and men) with a mysterious silver fox thrown in. There was just the right amount of spice 🌶 only criticism is I would say I’m not sure how much depth the sister brought to the plot, it kind of felt thrown in… but overall I did like the focus on mental health, love, growth and self worth and I would recommend to anyone who is looking for an easy, fun chicklit book! I look forward to reading any future work from this author.
This was such a fun and easy read. While there were some parts of the book that were a little predictable, there were still enough unexpected things that kept me interested and hooked on the story development. I loved the main character and I thought she was relatable. I also really enjoyed Danny's character. I loved the banter and the angst between these two. Id say this is a lose "enemies-to-lovers" since they were never really enemies but she started off not really liking him. I love their growth and development and definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance book.

I enjoyed the flirty banter between Sophia and Danny! But unfortunately other than the banter between the two, I found the characters to be a bit bland and didn’t much relate to our main girl Sophia, however I did think the book was fun and easy to read. Sophia and Danny’s relationship was a bit awkward at times and it did seem pretty rushed, but overall I enjoyed the book for what it was!
The author explicitly lists the content warnings at the beginning of the book which is great. Message me for cw!

I tried to like this book I told myself this year I won't DNF any books this one almost broke that I got through it, but it is a big no for me. I liked Danny and Sophie is good but she is so self-absorbed and then you find little layers of her and you like okay this isn't too bad then I just couldn't get around the writing of it and I can't put my finger on it but wasn't the book for me. The characters just didn't seem to do much for me I couldn't fully relate to it. It had some spice to it, but I wouldn't say much for that I cared for I enjoy spicey reads but this just didn't hit the mark, like the rest of the book.

I struggled to get through this, honestly. The writing didn't really inspire me to keep turning the page in that it felt more formulaic and safe than it felt like there was really a voice behind it. The story read like a step by step process in the characters life and I didn't find myself sympathizing with the heroine which is what I want, especially in a first person narrative.
Wow how can this barely be her debut?! Her characters are so likable while dealing with modern day struggles and dating. I love a good day of sunshine vs antsy love plot.

BLURB
Sophia is a Yogi and a known party girl with trust issues who has no interest in being in a relationship.
In to picture comes Danny, a musician and the rude guy who gets off the bad foot with her.
Through a series of events and Danny being everywhere she sees, they finally become friends for Sophia to see his wedding ring. However, there is no wife to be seen in sight but already does see him as a f boy. Will they get a chance to solve their misunderstandings or not? or will Sophie be stuck in the past and risk something real vanishing before her eyes.
REVIEW🔥
Personally, I connected to Sophia on her friendship problems and her friend Ryan being such a scummy person. Sophia is such a great sister and always kept her sister as her first priority. My heart broke a bit for her. Additionally, I loved Danny too and yes, he does make some bad decisions and doesn’t apologize well for it.
SPOILERS💥
The problem I had is with Danny… and well Sophie too. I felt like she went back to him too easily? But then again, they did resolve the issues between them. I would DEFINITELY have loved to see some Villain action from Belle before the easy divorce.
OVERALL I really liked this book!!!
This book was a quick read and I really enjoyed it. The story was about a 26 year old who was trying to find herself and following her dreams, and it was nice reading about how she deals with all the things in her life while doing that. The male character was interesting. There were some parts where I was confused, and some points I thought was inconsistent but overall the romance was good. The spice was pretty good too, nothing to complain there.
Unfortunately I couldn’t connect to the characters that much, but this is more of a me problem. The lack of connection I had to them made me care less about the whole story.
