Jess Hardy's books are always some of my favorites, and this was no exception. It was there for me when I needed something low-angst, and for that I'm so very grateful! And even though the romance was great, I think my favorite part was Kissy and Trig's friendship? I just loved their interactions and how they were there for each other.
What's not to love about Twin Hearts...the people and the place. Kissie tries with all her might to follow her 7 rules but some rules are meant to be broken. Boy am I glad Trig was there to be her wingman along the way!
Absolutely loved this small town novella, which kept me on the edge of my seat desperately waiting for the heat and it did not fail.
I wanted to love this book so bad cause the cover is super adorable and the plot sounded something I would totally love. However, this fell a bit flat for me. I wasn’t a huge fan of the romance I didn’t really feel any chemistry and I was sad that their was barely any spice.
The talking bear was too odd for me but I think the author did a clever job with the chapter names and the writing was good, overall, I’m a bit disappointed I just wished I loved this more.
Another gem of a book. must read and go and get it today. great story and characters. Must read. Go and read Jess Hardy book
I didn't think there was anything special to set this book aside from my tar list. I wasn't a fan of the characters I found them flat personality. it was hard to see a realistic romance between kissie and trig. I didn't find anything believable about her feelings.
Thank you NetGalley!
This is such a cute story. I loved the town and wonderful people. If you love small
town and two sweet adults trying to find their happy ending, this book is for you.
I loved this steamy romance novella, and would be very intrigued to read more from Jess. I don't always love the instalove trope but in this instance it didn't feel forced or overdone here.
i loved this a lot! especially the Taylor swift references!!! love the whole vibe and premise of the book! will definitely be buying this for my friends and my self
I loved this story, and desperately want more. I loved Kissie, and her quirks that made her who she was. I adored Trig, and everything about him. This story, just gave me everything I wanted, and I greedily want more. I'll be checking more from this author out, guaranteed.
This is a cute novella set in the Mystic Springs Resort. Kissie has been taken away on a getaway to Mystic Springs to get over her recent breakup. There she reconnects with handsome bartender, Trig that she made out with 2 years earlier and can't get out of her head.
Only problem is that she and her best friend, Dawn have made 7 Rules to moving on that she feels can't be broken for her own good and getting with Trig breaks most of those rules.
It's a quick feel good read with some fun small town characters that I would love to see in more books. It's not the most captivating of reads but it's so short that you want to see how they grow and change for the better.
7 RULES OF MOVING ON by Jess K. Hardy is an adult Valentine’s Day romance novella set in a small town called Mystic Hot Springs. It follows Kissie, a woman who’s all about following rules – specifically her 7 rules of moving on, and Trig, a bartender who loves his small town and just wants his business to do well. When Kissie goes on a trip to Mystic Hot Springs with her best friend, she immediately feels a connection to the sexy bartender, but there’s a rule she doesn’t want to break – the wingwoman can’t hook up. One kiss can’t do that much harm though, right? After that, we get a time jump and we see Trig and Kissie meet after two years, still not quite over their yearning for each other.
This romance is light-hearted and really quick to read. It was engaging and I enjoyed it overall. The main issues I had with it were the conflict and the dialogue. The conflict was so frustrating at multiple points of the book, and it felt like it could be resolved so easily, but wasn’t. The dialogue was a little awkward at some points, but it wasn’t too bad.
While some parts of it didn’t work for me, if you like small town romances and novellas, and you’d like a quick fun read, check this book out!
3.5 This is a cute romance novella that felt like a hallmark movie. This story follows Kissie it starts with her taking her best friend Dawn to a small Montana town to get over her ex. Kiddie the rule follower has created 7 rules to follow for Dawn to get over her ex and move on . While there Kissie meets Trig and the sparks are flying only problem is she is the wingwoman and not allowed to hook up. Kissie goes back home 2 years later after Kissie and her ex split Dawn returns the favor taking her to the same small Montana town where she runs in to Trig again and their chance to reunite.
This book was really cute and had a few spicy scenes which is great for a novella of this size. It really reminded me of a Hallmark movie with the side plot going on in this story and I was loving that. The characters were great and I really wanted more I plan to look for more releases by this author. I would like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for an opportunity to read this book for an honest review.
This was such a fast and beautifully written romance book which i thoroughly enjoyed maybe because I'm a hopeless romantic so anything love and I'm sold.
I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next read.
Love this book read the whole thing again I was totally engrossed in the story I loved the characters and every about the book will be definitely checking more books from this author
A quick and easy feel good novella. It’s the kind of book you want to read after a bad day to just escape. It is short so it is easy to read in a few hours. I really enjoyed learning about the characters and watching the magic between them develop.
Thank you to netgalley for allowing me to be a member and to give helpful feedback. Thank you to the publisher and author for accepting me to read this book, It is greatly appreciated.
I loved Kissie and Trig, they were such a cute couple and I loved the low angst, cutesy feel to this short story. The flow of the book was perfect and i loved the love between the two side characters too, i usually don't like the miscommunication trope as it usually seems unrealistic and a filler but this worked very well in the book. short sweet, great writing and beautiful relatable characters and a strong female lead.
This book is fantastic!!! Every word, every page, is written with magic and love and i felt and saw every single second of it. I couldn't wipe the smile off of my face or stop my heart from melting the entire time i read this novella. I am in love with Trig and am so happy he found his magic and home in Kissie, happy that she found it in him too. If you are looking for a light-hearted, romantic, steamy, magica story, look no further, you won't regret picking this book up.
This was a such a fun and fast read!
Kissie is helping a friend get over a bad relationship and while playing the role of wingwoman, meets the man of her dreams. Unfortunately, she has 7 strict rules in place to keep her and her friend safe and flourishing. She's made getting over an ex the best game and getting a slice of the hot bartender pie at Mystic Hot Springs isn't on the menu during this moving-on vacation.
But years later, when they cross paths again, this time with her in the breakup hotseat, she'd love to throw those rules she made out the window.
Trig is trying to keep the resort he loves open for business and when Kissie, the jingle-creating marketing expert that he cannot get out of his head, walks back into his bar, he makes a deal to keep her as close as possible.
This was adorable, made me laugh, and had perfect pearl-clutching steam. I loved it and need more in this series!
Pick it up if you love vacation romance, rebound fails, low-angst, instalove but smart about it romances.
Thank you to Pinkity Publishing and Jess K Hardy for the fabulous read!
I'd like to thank the publisher for sending me an arc through NetGalley!
The 7 Rules of moving on is a cute, small-town romance between Kissie and Trig.
When I tell you this is one of the cutest things I've read I'm not lying. I loved the whole small-town charm and the side characters were fun to read about. I'd want to go and live in Mystic for sure.
Kissie
I liked Kissie overall, she has this typical big sister and gifted kid with big dreams going on that I truly appreciate, she's dedicated to her friends and for the most part, she was a solid character.
Trig
This man is perfect in almost all ways that count. He's charming, respectful, utterly smitten with Kissie, and listens to Taylor Swift. I mean come on I don't think it gets better than that! (He has her jingle set as his ringtone)
Side Characters
I enjoyed the side characters of this book and I want to see if anything really happens between Dawn and Ryan in the future.
Plot
I really liked the plot of this book, I'm not a fan of the insta love trope but Hardy has done a fantastic job at it and I really enjoyed reading the book.
Conclusion
This is one of the most wholesome and cutest novellas out there and you need to read this RIGHT NOW!
Ah what a lovely book. I read some reviews and I picked up this book because of them. I’m so glad I got it. The story glided by so fast and was very enjoyable. The blossoming love between Trig and Kissie (love the names) was slow but needed for the story. And the ending was perfect. If you love a small town feel and two amazing adults trying to find their own magic, this book is for you! On a side note the author was very generous offering a 2nd epilogue to the story. Which again was adorable! I am looking forward to reading Ryan’s story. Which hopefully fingers crossed will be soon.
I received this ARC from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
