This is a short contemporary romance novella about Kissie Mitchell and her 7 rules to moving on from a bad break up. She and her best friend are at a hot springs resort where she meets a bearded bartender named Trig. She knows it’s a casual fling and kind of technically against the rules (which she has laminated by the way). However, as much as they both keep fighting it, they can’t resist each other.

It’s a short story, so it gets straight to the point rather quickly. The spicy scenes are great and so is the chemistry between Kissie and Trig. It was hard to get into at first as I was not connecting to the characters, but it sucked me in after Kissie came back 2 years later. It is a charming small town romance, just the right amount of spice for a novella.

This reminding me of a romance movie I’d see on hallmark! It was lighthearted and well written! Short cute and steamy

Kissie has these 7 rules for moving on from a break up so she (obviously) laminates them and takes her BFF Dawn to Twin Hearts, MT to get over a break up. While there she serves proudly in her wingwoman role and follows those 7 rules to a T (almost) and helps Dawn recover from her break up. She also meets this incredible, sexy, magical bartender who works at Mystic the town's local hot springs.

Andrew Trig is the magical bartender who swears the magic is at Mystic, in the town of Twin Hearts and maybe in the hearts of those meant to be in their town. Trig loves Mystic with his whole heart and intends to male the place his own. He has been recovering from a broken heart for nearly 2 years when he meets Kissie and Dawn. And his best buddy Ryan can't help but flirt incessantly with the red headed Dawn. While they lookout for their friends Kissie meets a good bit of the people of Twin Hearts and really enjoys them.

Two years later Dawn uses Kissie's 7 rules to help Kissie get over a break up and they return the none other than Mystic! Kissie and Trig see each other again and both realize that their last visit was more impactful then they knew. Through a series of random events Trig and Kissie find themselves together and breaking more than a few of Kissie's rules. . .but rules were meant to be broken, right?

Pick up this novella by Jess Hardy to find out all of the magic of Mystic and the happenings that lead to the end of Kissie's rules. This story is incredibly beautiful and a sweet twist on romance and a bit of fantasy woven throughout.

And the extra chapter if you are lucky enough to get it is perfection!

I read this as part of an ARC and I cannot wait to read so much more of Jess K Hardy! And I am not usually a fantasy reader but this was done so beautifully that I want to read everything she writes!

This is a cute story that takes place in a small town with a bartender that doesn't plan on ever leaving and an out-of-towner being a wingwoman for her best friend who is dealing with a break up. Kissie loves flirting with Trig, but she has a list of rules that she doesn't ever stray from. Will Trig be able to get Kissie to bend a little? I would have loved to see how Kissie and Trig meet for the very first time. Overall a fun, lighthearted read.

This sweet novella introduces Mystic Hot Springs, a flagging resort with water that the locals claim is magic. There was a really poignant Northern Lights metaphor that I loved and a grizzly bear who was just fantastic enough without being ridiculous.
Kiddie arrives to help her friend Dawn get over a breakup, but she brings 7 sure-fire rules that are proven to help Dawn along the way. Unwritten is that as her wingwoman, Kissie can’t hookup with anyone herself, even if the hot bartender, Trig, is putting out some amazing good vibes. Kissie is beholden to her rules, to her own detriment and the rest of the book depends heavily on that.
Honestly, I was so Team Trig that I found the rules super frustrating. I could empathize with Kissie but I felt too much for poor, willing-to-be vulnerable Trig. That’s why this is a 4 star for me. Overall, this is a light read and cute for Valentine’s Day! Some really great lines of writing and beautiful metaphors.

This was like a sweet treat on a self care afternoon. A little bite of goodness in my week.
Kissie & Trig flew off the pages, straight into the heart of my imagination and took me on a joyride.
Every last bit of this was amazing. The banter, the rules, the side characters, the little drip of angst, the TENSION between them, the town, the whole shebang.
I have zero regrets and I can’t wait to learn more about this magical town!

This book was endearing from the jump. I appreciated the cute small town, the Taylor Swift vibes, the BEAR!

The town sold the book for me, as did the hero. Holy hotness! And I appreciate the heroine's commitment to her laminated list.

This book reminded me a lot of a Hallmark movie, but steamier. That being said, I didn't enjoy this as much as I thought I would. Because this is a novella, the characters aren't very flushed out, and I didn't really care about any of them. The setting is nice, however, and it is a good book to read during Valentine's Day. This would be a great palate cleanser after reading a really heavy book, since it's very low angst and super fluffy. This isn't a bad book, but it just didn't work for me.

This was a very cute story, perfect for Valentine's. I was impressed with how much the author was able to achieve within the novella format: the plot didn't feel rushed and the characters personalities came through. It was a cute romance with some fantastical elements. Only the end felt bit rushed with the angst ramped up..

I really enjoyed this sweet Valentine’s romance. Set in an adorable small town in Montana, you can’t help but fall in love with Mystic, their magic hot springs, and the cast of characters who live in town. Kissie and Trig both fight the feelings they have for one another. I was rooting for them from the first few chapters. This has a great HEA.

After Valentine's Day I was looking for something a bit light hearted to read and I stumbled upon The 7 Rules of Moving On which was a novella so I thought it would be a quick and easy read.  I must have picked it up at all the wrong times, because I fell asleep during reading it SO many times - even when my kindle said I only had 4 minutes left.  In theory, the story line was great, but I guess it just wasn't grabbing my attention like I had hoped.  (But it WAS steamy as promised, so there's that!)

Kissie and her best friend have a weekend getaway to help get her best friend's mind off of her recent breakup.  While away, she meets a really hot bartender.  A couple of years later, they end up having ANOTHER getaway because this time Kissie was the one having the break up.  The really hot bartender, Trig, has not stopped thinking about Kissie since she was last there.

But Kissie has 7 rules of moving on - and being with Trig wouldn't be following, well, any of them.  But it's right around Valentine's Day and Twin Hearts is the perfect place to be to find love. Or so it would seem.

Without giving too much away - there was some drama, some will they, won't they, some thoughts about is going far away for a job that's not your dream job worth it.. and just what kind of magic is in that pool that brings talking bears to it?!

Overall it was a fun Valentine's Day read, but probably not my favorite quick read ever. I wanted to like it, but it was just tough to get into it and stay hooked.  But if you're looking for light hearted and steamy - this ones for you.

This is such a perfect book for Valentines Day/Week.
Such a sweet love story with major valentine’s and small town vibes. The book is only 163 pages and what I loved the most was that it was not at all rushed. So much happens and it is such a perfect blend of friendship, magic, romance and steam.
If you looking for a romance book for the month of February and also squeeze in a quick read to meet your monthly goals, then this book is for you. The title put me off a little, but I am so glad I read it. Can wait to read book #2.

There must be something in the water at the Mystic Hot Springs because love and grand realizations seem to be afoot. This book had so many good moments and did an amazing job of bringing little tidbits from the beginning back around later on and leaves you feeling very complete and satisfied. Trig is incredibly sweet and swoony and ugh I want one of my own. The ring tone thing is like next-level book friend and officially going on my list of dreams. Kissie was a little annoying at times and I think she might benefit from some therapy honestly, but I think she makes up for it with her surprise at the end. I hope Lane, Dawn and/or Ryan gets a book, and I would love to read Kathleen’s story about coming to town. My new life motto inspired by this book is “The wing woman is always right” and I shall live by this wisdom, I might even laminate it.

THIS BOOK IS PERFECT FOR THOSE WHO LOVE ROMANCE, IT'S SO SWEET AND BEAUTIFUL THAT IT FEELS LIKE A DREAM BOOK, YOU LIKE THE CHARACTER, THEIR STORY THEIR INTERACTIONS AND IT'S IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO ROOT FOR THEM AND IT'S AMAZING, I LOVE IT.

This book was really cute ❤️ The perfect little Valentine’s Day novella!

You head to Twin Hearts, MT following Kissie and her best friend Dawn as they go to a resort in this little small town to try and get over their breakups while living by Kissie’s 7 Rules of Moving On 😍

It was a little slow in the beginning for me, but halfway through it picked up and finished strong.

I loved Trig and the cute things he did after meeting Kissie for the first time 😍 The banter between all of the characters was so good and had me laughing on several occasions!

Overall this was a very solid novella that didn’t disappoint and I didn’t feel like it left anything out for being a short book.

If you’re looking for a cute Valentine’s read to round out your February reading, this one is worth it!

I found this book really childish, for a almost 30 woman.
Even Drew , this hot bear man bartender, was a total sweet, (too sweet for my taste,)
The concept of this rules was fun to read, but not quite the plot I was expecting.
Sometimes too drama for a romcom, or too light for a drama..you know what I mean?
I couldn't connect with the writing or the story.

Do you love hallmark holiday movies? Do you love men written by women? Do you love Taylor Swift? Read this book. It's got the best of all these worlds- a quick, easy, ooey-gooey valentines day read, a bartender who never forgot the woman he met years prior and treats her with absolute respect, and of course said man loves Taylor Swift too- honestly, it's nearly perfect.

The only reason I gave this novel 4 stars, instead of 5, is that I don't really have a connection with the main character, Kissie....she's just a bit frustrating with how blind she was to Trig. He's thoughtful and sweet, and she's just kinda oblivious to the romantic potential that he has to offer her. She of course gets in line in the end, so the frustration for her dissipates, but just get ready to ride it out.

Also, unlike hallmark movies, this novel includes some tension and spicy moments...so that's a definite improvement to the genre.

This was a fast, fun read and while it's perfect for valentines day, I think it can be enjoyed year-round!

This was a super cute, fun novella. The author managed to give all the characters backstories, motivations, and unique personalities. There was definitely a lot of miscommunication stuff going on but it didn’t bother because the book was so short. There had to be some kind of tension.

This book is perfect if you just want a quick, cute read for Valentine’s Day. I couldn’t put this book down I finished it in 3 hours !!!

Did i stay up well into the night to finish this? yes. do i regret it? not one bit. the tension was *chefs kiss+ i thought this was a cute little story with a little bit of ~magic~ and charm to it. it's the perfect short and sweet novella. it hooks you in and keeps you reading.

This was a cute little novella following Kissie and Trig. As the Hot Bartender, Kissie flirted with Trig on a weekend getaway to help her best friend get over her cheating ex. There was a lot of sexual tension, but nothing could be done about it since she was going back to her hometown the next morning. But just forward 2 years, and Kissie finds herself back in Twin Hearts and is shocked that Trig remembers little things about her like her allergies and her preferred alcoholic drink. They spend more time together and their relationship grows like the magic that is in the air in Twin Hearts Montana.

I enjoyed this quick little read, especially on reading it on Valentines Day. Its very much a HEA but I am curious to know what the other books in the series will be...
