Another good book by Leslie North with excellent characters and a story that just flowed from the beginning to the end. Very much worth the read.
I loved this book. It was so good I could not get enough and coild not put it down. Leslie always makes you feel like you are right in the middle of the book when you are reading it. Cannot wait to read more of this series.
Cowboy's Secret Son by Leslie North is another amazing book. I found it a good easy read, I loved the characters and the storyline flowed nicely. I highly recommend this book to anyone. Leslie North is an amazing writer and I love her books
There are so many things I hated about this book.
Prom night Rem takes melody's virginity and leaves town the next day, even knowing how she felt about him.
Then he comes home after being gone 7 years thinking he can just take over the ranch and everything even though Melody has been the one taking care of everything since Rem has been gone, even taking care of Rem's dying father.
I don't think he ever cared about Mel because as soon as he joined the Rodeo He was always with some bimbo and when he did come home he never listened to what she had to say.
And the ending where he proposes I can not believe.
After shitting all over her and letting her do all the work on the ranch, he says one pathetic apology and everything is all okay. I don't think so!!!
I received a complimentary copy of Cowboy's Secret Son in exchange for an honest review. I was captivated by this book from the very beginning. Melody and Remington's reconnection was very well done, and I couldn't wait too keep reading more about the ranch, their child, and their conflict over how to "grow" the ranch.
However, I was disappointed with the growth of the relationship. There was only one intimate scene, and the remainder of the book focused on ranch repairs and the reality show. It almost felt like a second author finished the book, and the ending was extremely rushed.
When I think of romance, I think of books just like this one, that gives all the feels and satisfies every romance junkies' heart. This is a perfect books to snuggle up with on any day.
I usually enjoys this authors books, but this one was a bit disappointing. Neither MC's were very likable, and the 6/7? year old behaved like a toddler for some reason. Even in the end there's was no communication between the characters. They went from being over to getting married in like a page and a half.
*Thank you to the publisher for this eARC.
This is an easy to get sucked in second chance romance.
Melody is the mother of a six year old son and she never told the father of her child that he had a son despite them being childhood best friends. Remington has returned to his childhood home to operate the cowboy camp that he has been left a 50% share of by his father.
It becomes obvious within minutes of being back that he has a son that everyone has known about except him.
Can Melody and Remington repair their relationship?
I love a rural romance and I love a second chance romance especially between old best friends. This one captivated me early and I finished it quickly.
Thanks to Relay Publishing and Netgalley.com for this complimentary eARC copy.

I definitely liked the book. First of a new series that starts very promisingly. I like to read books about second chances, and this one turned out to be one. Well-built and described characters. It's funny, romantic and it's read very quickly. I liked how the main character didn't even have an idea that he had a child, and everything went great. I definitely liked getting to know Melody's character too. If you read this type of book, I'm sure you'il like it. I can't wait for the next one. My rating is something between 3,5 and 4/5✨
A fun and entertaining novel, that I enjoyed without having the usual head scratching my thriller reading gives me.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Relay Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the first in a series, but I believe that they are all stand alones. This was not my favorite. Remington and Melody go from not communicating to lets get married. For me this is just a 3 star.
Fun, sexy, romantic read with a hea. Will recommend to readers of romance who are looking for something with a bit more oomph.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Melody and Remington. They have known each other all their lives. Melody works for Remington’s family camp and Remington is on the rodeo circuit. They had a ne night stand after prom and the next morning Remington left before Melody woke up. Several months after Melody found out she was pregnant.. she never told Remington, he had left to make his dreams come true. After his father died, he came home. They had problems from a son he didn’t know about, learning to be a dad, a film crew telling the story about the camp improvements, and another sponsor for the tv program. But through it all they found love.
A complimentary copy of this book was provided by NetGalley for my honest review and opinion. Remington and Melody's love story has a long history with a tangible piece of evidence of the one night they gave in to their feelings. The only problem is that Remington was too busy chasing fame to know what had happened back home. Finding home and forming his family became his everlasting focus.
This is the first book of Ms. North's new Collier Cowboy Camp series. It is a wonderfully written friends to lovers, second chance romance. Remington and Melody were two great characters, with realistic with relatable qualities. When Remington comes back to the family ranch, he doesn't necessarily see eye to eye with Melody regarding the decisions to modernize the ranch and make their cowboy camp more appealing. He also finds out that he is a father because of their night from prom back in high school. He had his own plans back then, and she didn't want to get in the way by telling him, so all these years he never knew about his son. Now that they are together again, they have a chance to be a family, but without communication, they won't be able to move forward. This was an emotional and heartwarming read, and the characters were amazing, especially Colton. Great start to the series, can't wait to see what the next story brings!
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This book was read thanks to NetGalley
I really liked this book, it has romance, secret son, second chances and trust earning with are some of my favorite tropes with secret son as main part of the plot, I love the story and I really liked Melody
im a big fan of Leslie North and this book was no exception. a good sweet love story however it definitely was not my favourite by this author
Cowboy's Secret Son by Leslie North was a change in genre for me. It was a quick, easy read that flew by. It definitely was a love story with a happy ending, which I was looking forward to. Yellowstone show has been popular television, so this plot reminded me a lot of it with the cowboy and ranch vocabulary. I was left wanting to read more, but not sure if/when the next one is released or if it will have anything to do with these same characters. I wouldn't mind reading the next one just to check it out.
Cowboy's Secret Son was a nice, quick read.
The tropes, friends to lovers, second chance and surprise kid, were very well written with a gripping wording and so many relatable feelings.
Remington comes back at his family ranch as the king of the rodeo circuit and he doesn't expect to confront with his old friend, Melody, for every decision that entail to modernise the Collier Ranch to cath the attention of more people for their cowboy camps.
I enjoyed to follow Melody and Remington journey. I think Remingtong were a little bit too immature and bullheaded but I adored how he instantly accept his son and hoe he tries to become a good father. Melody is my favourite character, she is strong even if at times she doesn't see her value, I liked how she stands up to Remington and never give up to his requests.
There are some steamy moments between them that show they haven't lost the chemistry in all the years they were separated.
I've read it in one sit, definitely recommended if you like Cowboys.
Remington Collier and Melody Naly are childhood best friends. Remington has always dreamed of making it big ads a rodeo star and making his father proud. Before he leaves town, he takes Melody to prom, and they end up sleeping together. Melody finds herself pregnant and takes a job at Remington’s fathers ranch helping him run a cowboy camp for kids. Knowing Remington’s dreams for his future she doesn’t tell him about his son.
She puts her dreams on hold to raise her son and care for Remington’s ailing father.
Tragedy strikes and Remington’s father passes away leaving half the ranch to Remington and the other half to Remington’s, unbeknownst to him, son.
Remington returns, with a reality show crew on his tail, to renovate the cowboy camp and to continue with his father’s legacy. But with the camera’s rolling Remington must learn how to become the best father he can be and try proving to Melody that he is back for good.
The Cowboy’s Secret son, by its description, is a story that combined quite a few of my favourite romance book tropes – second chances, single parent, and secret baby. So, I went into it fairly optimistic because when the story is done well it can be quite an emotional rollercoaster of a read.
This story had some hits and misses for me. Here are some of the things that I liked about this book:
1) I liked the concept for the story – second chance romance between to former childhood friends, an accidental and secret pregnancy, and a reality show to boot. And sprinkle a dash of cowboy this had all the makings for a good story. This is what had me intrigued in reading the book in the first place, but for reasons discussed below it didn’t quite hit the mark for me.
2) Parts of the book was really well written. The author was able to illustrate the emotions of some of the characters really well, rather than tell us. There was a moment between Remington and his son that nearly had me in tears in the way she was able to paint the scene.
3) I liked Melody as a character – no, I didn’t agree with all the actions she took or all the decisions she had made. But I found the character to be quite relatable and even though I didn’t always like how she handled certain situations I had empathy for her.
4) The story had a HEA.
Unfortunately, there were some things that I did not enjoy about this book, and this is what brought my rating down. Here are some of the things I did not enjoy about this book:
1) Remington as a character. I started off liking Remington (in fact I even felt bad for him at the start of the book) but as the book wore on, I found myself extremely aggravated with him. He came across as self-absorbed. And at the end of the book, I don’t think his character was redeemed at all. So that was unsatisfying.
2) Sadly, I felt that Remington and Melody lacked chemistry. I just didn’t buy that they were head over heels in love with one another and they couldn’t live without one another. It felt that by the end of book all the right words had been said all the right actions had been taken but it seemed to lack authenticity. I wasn’t too convinced by their relationship. This was disappointing as it had all the right ingredients – great story, good writing and an emotional punch.
This story was a mixed bag for me. Although this book had its good moments it wasn’t a book that would automatically want to re-read. As a new to me author, I will definitely be giving Leslie North’s other work a chance and hopefully I’ll connect more with some of her other works.
