This look is a personal read, not for my classroom. Love this trilogy, especially after binding the Bridgerton Series on Netflix. It is a fan take on YA.

When I finished Majesty I knew that the ending had been too open. Hopefully, we have Rivals and in this book, we have some answers to what happened to the characters in the previous book and the consequences of their actions.

What bothers me a lot about the series is the different personalities that the characters show in each book. Fortunately, it doesn't happen here, well a little, but they did maintain their essence.

The story continues to be told by Beatrice, Samantha, Daphne, and Nina; each one tells us what is happening with the royals, especially with the League of Kings. We also meet new characters.

The plot was quite flat, not much happens until the end. Something big and shocking took place in the last couple of chapters that left me incredulous. What I don't like about this series is that the author takes great care in putting her protagonists against each other a man, which I don't see necessary.

Let's talk about one of my favorite characters which was Sam. She changes a little, and I lose a little interest in her, but I still want to know what will happen to her. On the other hand, we have Nina and Daphne whose relationship takes a big turn, but unfortunately… you know who ruins it with its indecisions.

Still, the book has been quite entertaining, it hasn't been great, but I want to read the next one and find out what will happen.

Picking up where book two left off, we find the three youngest members of the Washington family, their partners, and friends at the League of Kings — a conference (of sorts) that takes place every five years for royalty and heirs from around the world.

To say this book was a disappointment would be a bit of an understatement. It took me nearly six weeks to finish this book because there was nothing engaging happening. Everyone was rehashing the same drama from book 2.

What bothered me the most about this book is that every woman in this book was pitted against another. Don’t get me wrong, I do not subscribe to the brand of white feminism that says all women must support one another. But creating an entire book and universe about young women in power only to have them backstab and hurt one another is not what we need in 2022. Also, the move Daphne pulls at the end to keep Jefferson around? Disgusting.

On top of that, we have Sam and Marshall (future Duke of Orange) serving as the face of interracial relationships and race relations in America. But outside of one conversation between Sam and Nina, this book is completely devoid of actual commentary about race. Additionally, making Marshall’s family out to be the “mean guys” for not immediately embracing Sam and not following it up with a true apology from Sam is racist. I cannot recommend this book to people of color based on the portrayal of Marshall’s family. Again, it’s 2022 here. The real America is faced with white supremacy from top to bottom and people of color are being killed for the color of their skin. This felt completely out of touch. Readers, especially readers of color deserve better.

I’m not sure what the goal of the book was here. The plot was extremely drawn out - so much so that I felt the last 50 pages of the book could have been the first 50. There were far too many perspectives and main characters to keep track of what was going on. This book needs a single main character, a clear plot, and a goal.

My main question for the author and publication team is - you had an opportunity to reinvent America, and in this book, monarchies around the world, why did you choose to stick with one that’s overwhelming white, sexist, and full of unlikeable people?

3.5 stars- I’m just here for the drama, but don’t leave me on a cliff hanger. Rude. I’ll be on the edge of my seat till the next one comes out.

I enjoyed the previous two books in the series and felt that this one lived up to the hype. As with the previous books, this one also ends on a cliffhanger. I thought McGee was wise to focus on the other relationships in the books and let Bea step into her role as Queen. If you liked the previous books, you should like this one as well.

I feel like a blocked so much of book 1 and 2 out that I couldn't remember anything that led us to this story. And based of the ending, there is going to be a four book but I think I'm cutting my loses on this one.
So back and forth with all the relationships it is hard to keep track of who is dating who and there is no real emotional investment in the couple's because they don't last long.

I absolutely loved this newest book in the series. The characters felt like they got to finally come into their own and develop a little bit with more serious under tones to the story lines. While it's still YA this book felt like it was maturing along with its characters.

Beatrice has been my favorite to follow, I feel like i've grown up with her and now she's reaching her mid 20s and finding her stride. Her relationship with Teddy felt like it took a back seat in this story and it was interesting to see this new side of her, being out there more alone. The convocation of kings was so fun to read about, I loved all the new characters and the relationships Beatrice formed with them. She definitely FELT more alone and isolated and I wish she had leaned on him just a bit more but maybe we'll get that in the next book!

Samantha was so interesting to see in this book as I feel like she's always been in Beatrice's shadow. But now she's really stepping into her own. Pretty much her entire development this book was around Marshall and their duties and I loved getting to see them navigate that and choose where they want their lives to lead.

Now... I feel so badly for Jefferson. Nina and Daphne teamed up this book and became unlikely friends and he thinks it's great. But they obviously are up to something. This man cannot make up his mind between these two women and they aren't helping him out much. I continue to feel badly for Daphne and I wish she could just run away from it all. Deep down I think she hates it all as much as Nina does. I can't wait to see where this story goes in a fourth book!

Overall, the best installment in this series yet and a joy to read! I love these characters and all the new story lines were so great of an addition.

What if the US had a monarchy? American Royals III continues the story of Queen Beatrice ad it was thoroughly enjoyable!

Thank you Netglley for the eARC. I didn't know I needed this book until I had it and it answered so many unanswered questions for me leftover from the second book. But now, I need more and quickly. McGee does a great job wrapping up some loose ends while creating even more loose ones that beg for a fourth installment in this series. Excited to see what comes next.

I was dissapointed with American Royals II, but loved this latest book! The characters are relatable and lovable. I love to hate Daphne. Can't wait for the next one.

American Royals III: Rivals is a perfect beach read. I enjoyed it more than the second book in the series, and the ending definitely left me excited for a fourth installment. It's very soap-opera-y, but so were the first two. Once again, the chapters alternate between Beatrice, Samantha, Nina, and Daphne. Jeff, Teddy, and Marshall continue to be excellent side characters. One of the aspects I enjoyed most in Rivals was Beatrice's interactions with other royals, especially Louise. The relationship(s) between Daphne, Nina, and Jeff continue to be quite dramatic, and it's nice seeing Samantha mature and find happiness in her relationship with Marshall. If you enjoyed the first two books, you'll like this one as well.

This series has my whole heart. I think my love of Princess Diaries when I was younger plays a role in that.

I was nervous jumping into the 3rd novel because it had been a while since I read the first two books. Kathrine McGee does a great job recapping the past events while keeping the plot of this story moving along.

The story does end on yet another cliffhanger so I am banking on a 4th!

Bring on American Royals IV! Its rare that a series captures my heart like American Royals has. Katharine McGee has written these characters so well that I am simply captivated by their story. Excellent!

I recently read the first two books in this series and was glad to receive an advanced review copy of this book from #NetGalley. If you are looking for a resolution to the story, you aren't going to get it here. This is another book that ends on a cliffhanger. That said, all of the primary characters from the first two books are back so if you like them, it is an opportunity to see some further character development. The new characters in this book are largely forgettable.

Rivals
The third book in the Royal Americans series does not disappoint. This book picks up where Majesty left off. Beatrice is now the Queen of America and the country will never be the same. Relationships develop and grow, unexpected alliances are made, and friendships are tested. Rivals ends with yet another cliffhanger which leaves me hopeful for a 4th book!!

I just love this series. It has a Gossip Girl vibe to it and just love the twist on history while still keeping with modern society. This was a great addition to the series our four girls are back at it Beatrice, Nina, Samantha, and Daphne. It was nice to see Beatrice come into her own more now that she is out from under the control of the old. The turmoil between Nina and Daphne continues. I want to hate Daphne but it’s so hard, but Jeff is too naive for his own good. Still over here rooting for Sam and Marshall.

Major cliff hanger….please tell me there is another one in the works!!

🌟I received this as a ARC from NetGalley for my honest review🌟

I’ll be honest, this is NOT what I was expecting. If you’re thinking this is the unexpected third book that’s going to give us the ending we all wanted from book 2, I have some news friends - this ain’t that.

I’m not totally sure how I feel about this one. I enjoyed it, especially Sam and Marshall’s story line, but the ending ramps up the drama and then we’re left high and dry! I’m not sure I like where Nina’s story is going - she’s such a lovely, good person and I don’t want to see that change. I liked seeing Beatrice start to really step into her role as Queen while also finding ways to have relationships outside her Royal duties. And I’m sad about the sudden turn Daphne took at the end.

Will I read the next one? Definitely. But am I happy with how this one ended? Definitely not.

I received this arc from NetGalley and the publisher. Though it felt a little slow in parts, I do enjoy the drama between the characters and can only assume there will be a fourth book. I’m curious to see where each of the storylines goes.
