If you love KW (or great YA romances) you will like this book. kW is always well written and a fun read.
Kasie West always offers a cute, sweet, happy romance, and this one is no different. I enjoyed the family dynamics, and I always love a road trip story, though I would have liked a little more of the various places they visited. It was a fun combination of enemies to lovers and friends to lovers tropes. It left me smiling, like all her books do.
This book was SO STINKING CUTE. I read it in a day and half.
Roadtrips. Sibling/family love. Gamer nerd. Art love. SKYLER AND NORAH.
This book has everything I need in a summer read. My only complaint? Paisley seemed ALOT younger than fourteen, and it drove me insane the majority of the book…and that is why I dropped it down to 4-stars….but honestly it’s closer to 4.5 because it is a WINNER.
This is a really cute book. It is easy to get lost in and young readers will really appreciate the friends to enemies to lovers story line.
I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Places We've Never Been was such a cute book to jump into. Especially after meeting Norah and Skyler. They used to be the best of friends until Skyler's family moved away. Eventually they started to talk less and less. So, it was definitely interesting to see how they would react towards one another during this vacation they were about to embark on. Long story short, feeling definitely came into play and it made my heart all warm and happy.
Of course, it took a while for them to actually talk about why they drifted apart. Lots of other secrets came out to play as well. At first, I kept thinking something bad was going to happen. Which, yes, I was correct about something being wrong with a certain character. Definitely didn't a little dance for catching on but then it made me sad because I didn't like that it was actually happening. It was a bittersweet feeling and I can only hope and wish that things are going better.
In the end, this was really cute and I'm glad that Norah and Skyler got a second chance with one another. I'm excited for their next journey in life: college. Definitely happy that I got my first ever Kasie West ARC and I can't wait for the next one to magically come my way.
This was a cute and sweet YA romance that I was pleasantly surprised I enjoyed as much as I did! I'm going to be honest. After realizing it was, YA I was nervous it was going to be a flop for me. Sometimes YA can feel a little immature or I can't relate as easily, because I am no longer in the situations the books revolve around. But I can happily and honestly say that was not the case for me when it came to reading this book. I can see where this author would have a huge fanbase and why people enjoy reading her books! The characters were well developed, the story was well written and it was an easy book for me to stay engaged with. I wish the ending didn't end so abruptly and we could have seen how it played out a little more than we were allowed, but overall it was a solid book that I would recommend to YA readers.
**Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me an advanced copy of this book and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion. I am posting this review to my Goodreads account immediately and will post it to my Amazon & Instagram accounts upon publication.
4.5 stars
Kasie West books are always so sweet and adorable with just the right amount of real-life problems mixed in to not be a downer but make the story well-rounded. Places We’ve Never Been is no different. I love that the author just jumps right into the story…no huge set up before “the good stuff,” and her way with words sucks me in every time. I now want to rent an RV and going road-tripping to a list of National Parks. The romance in this one is lighter than in some of her previous books, but it also works here. An enjoyable and easy read
I've read several Kasie West books now and I'm never disappointed. This one was super close to 4.5 stars. It was just a really fun read.
I loved the idea of the road trip, maybe because I'm about to drive 14 hours to North Carolina next week. It was fun seeing a little bit of the US, but it didn't take over the whole story. It was woven in well with the other aspects of the book. I was interested the whole time and I thought the pacing was good.
Norah was the main character. Her main reason for going on this road trip is the interview with a gaming design college in Seattle. She also can't wait to see her best friend Skyler for the first time in 4 years after he moved away. But apparently Skyler doesn't want anything to do with Norah anymore. Norah thinks he must have moved on from their best friendship. Norah was very fun, but she was still very obviously finding herself. Skyler was adorable. I loved how he really believed in Norah even more than she believed in herself. I really loved the side characters. They made the story for me. Skyler's sister Paisley and Norah's current best friend Willow were my favorites. Both the rest of Norah and Skyler's families really turned this book into something great.
I can't wait to continue on with my Kasie West books!
This was a cute story to read. That ending was so sweet! It was a fast read for me. I loved that they had to be so close together.
This one was so cute! The road trip setting was adorable, and it really added a ton to the experience. As someone who's been to both Zion and Seattle, I loved being able to recognize some of the iconic landmarks. As for the romance, it was even cuter. Marking this as enemies-to-lovers is misleading, and the enemies phase was teeny, but other than that, I loved it. This was a super fun read, and one I'd definitely recommend!

I found Norah to be extremely relatable. She feels some what akward in social situations and doubts herself often. When Norah's family meets up with her former best friend's family she has all these expectations of how the trip will go. When it does not go exactly as planned, she has to switch gears and adjust to the situation.
Her relationship with Skylar obviously starts off very rocky. I enjoyed the flashbacks to when they were kids. I enjoyed watching the growth in their relationship from how they were as kids to their present relationship.
There were several predicable things that happen in the story, but that did not detract from the overall enjoyment of the book. I will re-read this book like I do of all Kasie West's books.
This was a sweet and easy read. Norah and Skyler were childhood best friends until Skyler and his family move across the country. The families are finally reuniting for an awesome road trip and Norah couldn’t be more excited to see her best friend. Except… Skyler isn’t as friendly as she remembers and Norah isn’t sure why. This book focuses on young adulthood and discovering who you are in high school.

Norah and Skyler were best friends growing up but haven't seen each other or talked in years. Now their moms have planned a 3 week long RV trip so their families can reunite and spend some quality time together. While Norah is excited to see Skyler again, he seems less than thrilled about their trip. Did their friendship not mean as much to him as it did to her? On top of the weird vibes from Skyler, Norah realizes that her mom and brother are keeping secrets from her. Now she's worried that this dream trip may end in heartache and sadness.
As a fan of YA fantasy and dystopian books, I was eager to try out a YA romance. I liked the idea of the road trip and how it forced Norah and Skyler to spend time together. Unfortunately for the first half of the book there was zero romance. Skyler either ignored Norah or made comments that came off kind of rude. When they finally spent more time together in the second half of the story, there were some cute moments between them. But the book read more like general fiction since it focused on Norah figuring out who she was and where she belonged. It was interesting trying to figure out the secrets that were being kept between Norah's family members, and it took me awhile to figure out what exactly everyone was hiding. But other than that I wasn't super invested in the story or the outcome. I think I'll be sticking with YA books where the main characters are facing more adult-like drama rather than the typical teen problems. I do think lovers of YA fiction and romance will enjoy this story, though.

This was a sweet story and I loved the characters.
I loved the story of Norah and Skylar and how their friendship progressed and changed over the years. Best friends to barely acquaintances to possibly something more…ahh love it, They are so cute and I loved reading about the places they visited and all the things they did.
This is the first I have read by West but after some digging, I will definitely be reading more. This wholesome fun YA romance hit the spot for me!

This book is why I love YA literature.
Navigating adolescence is difficult for everyone, especially if you’ve grown up feeling like an outsider. But, when you find a person who views your “weirdness” as endearing, they usually become a friend for life. Thus is the case of Norah and Skyler, or at least it was until he moved away. Will they be able to rekindle their best friend status in three short weeks as their families embark on an RV trip to Seattle?
I loved the young, platonic friendship Norah and Skyler shared growing up and their journey to a mature relationship.
No matter your age, Kasie West’s Places We’ve Never Been is a guaranteed instant hit. Her writing is relatable, encouraging, and hopeful. I cannot recommend it enough. You will not be disappointed.
Special thanks to NetGalley.com and Random House Children’s- Delacorte Press for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest feedback.
Places we've never been was such a great read! It was hard to get into at the beginning part of the trip. I was finally able to get into it after the halfway mark and I am glad I stuck around because the magic started happening after that.
Kasie West definitely will tug readers hearts with the plot later on. I loved the fact that this was childhood friends to enemies to lovers. I am a sucker for childhood friends meeting up again in life.
This definitely had all the elements for a good young adult romance book. I liked how mature this was because of the issues that are dealt with. This was a five star rating.
Thank you Netgalley and publishers for allowing me the chance to read and review.
This will be posted on blog soon.
This was such a sweet young adult read! I love the friends to lovers trope and enjoyed their journey. Thank you for my copy!
I absolutely love family summer road trip books. They create such a fun atmosphere! Also this cover is so super cute.
This book made my heart flutter so many times I couldn’t function. Such a sweet and cute YA contemporary! The friend dynamics and the relationships between the characters made me happy. I very much related to drifting away from childhood friends and having to still keep in touch due to parents still being friends and this book created a hopeful atmosphere for second chances and getting to know friends again. I really liked Norah and Skye, their friendship dynamics were super cute and I would love to see a sequel maybe with them off to college.
The trope is childhood friends to lovers, boy falls first and I am very much obsessed.
Thank you Penguin Teen Canada and NetGalley for the eARC.

This was such a fun book. I loved the characters. The writing style was so easy to follow and I loved everything about the plot. It was a bit slow burn for YA kind. I love Kasie West’s stories and can’t wait for the next one.
I received a review copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was really cute! this author is my go-to when it comes to YA romance and this was another adorable story from her.
Places We’ve Never Been is a perfect summer road-trip read. I really enjoyed this group of characters and it was a pretty light and easy read overall. There was a small, more emotional storyline that didn’t get too much attention until closer to the end.
The big secrets revealed were predictable for me but I’m not really reading YA romance to be blown away by a surprising twist.
I’ll probably keep reading from this author as long as she keeps putting out books. They’re always a fun escape!
