With colorful illustrations and simple text this book is a nice introduction to gardening. There’s not much of a story, but it goes through a lot of the steps to gardening.

Adorable introduction to gardening for littles! The illustrations are appealing and pleasant. I’m already thinking about what fun youngsters I know who would love a copy of this along with some fun materials to make their own garden.

This is a delightful book starring two adorable siblings named Luke and Lottie that are learning Gardening 101 from their daddy. Together as a family they prepare the soil by raking the dirt, plant tiny seeds and saplings that they purchased from the local nursery and then the hardest part of all... wait for the harvest. Oh my it takes vegetables a long, long time to grow and they discover that you need a lot of patience.

This book is a wonderful guide that unveils to kids the proper way to plant and maintain a successful garden. The language used is age-appropriate and the illustrations are very kid-friendly and they marry with the text perfectly.

Spring is just around the corner so now would be the ideal time to share "Luke and Lottie and Their Vegetable Garden" with the aspiring little gardener in your family.

This is an educational and fun book about vegetable gardening for ages 3+ and I highly recommend it. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks a lot to NetGalley and its author Ruth Vielockx to provide me an advanced copy of this book or children's story.

I did not notice that this is my first book review with a category as well. Therefore, it is kind of weird on me, but I did it.

Secondly, I have an opinion of this book, I hope not only me but also others have seen it meanwhile they were reading it with their kids or whoever. Id est, I think there are a few words in English that it is not as easy as a children's category, Such a first or second grade at Elemental School, there Is one of the hardest vocabularies I have ever seen in my entire life studying English and it is quite difficult even though I am as well at B1 or B2 level. That made me fun. Anyway, I think if the author could moderate her/his/its/their way to say something, ah it would be better, or whether at the end of that words put on the book vocabulary.

This book tells us a story of two kids who is seeding plants outside, in the orchard.

What an adorable book this is!

As the title clearly states, Luke and Lottie have decided to begin their own vegetable garden under the guidance of their dad. The book details out the steps they go through, right from purchasing the saplings/seeds to planting them, watering them, and then the most important ingredient of all – having patience to wait for them to grow.

The book delivers on various levels:
👉 It provides age-appropriate information about how different plants grow in different ways and how planting needs to be done the right way.

👉 It is very practical in its approach and ensures that its little readers grasp all concepts easily. For instance, it shows how seed packet labels can be stuck on a stick next to where those seeds were sown. An easy way of remembering what you planted in that spot. Such a simple yet brilliant idea!

👉 It shows kids who listen to their dad when he advises them on the right way to doing things. At the same time, it also shows parents who listen to their children and respond to their queries fairly without judgement. (And it also has a little boy who decides to buy flowers for his mom while he is at the garden shop – how sweet is he!)

👉 It has its moments of fun in addition to the educational value.

👉 It emphasises on the importance of patience while waiting for results. In an instant gratification world, this is a much-required lesson.

👉 It has adorable illustrations. I loved those round faces and endearing expressions. The illustrations are perfect complements to the story.

The only thing I felt the book could have added is a little bit of info on the kind of soil required. It only states “dirt” for the vegetable garden, but obviously, any and every dirt doesn’t work. Maybe that could have been the first step before the kids went to the garden shop to buy seeds.

The language level is perfect for any little reader aged 3+. Definitely recommended for any aspiring gardener.

4.5 stars from me.

This bright and sweetly illustrated book introduces kids to Luke and Lotty and their first garden. Children will visit a garden center where they will watch Luke and Lottie choose what they will grow. Kids will learn how to plant seeds and, perhaps most important, they will learn that it takes time and patience to grow a garden.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

This title will be published on 29 Mar 2022.

Luke and Lottie is to be released in March and I highly recommend it to parents, teachers, and librarians everywhere! This new picture book is so cute as are all the books with this brother/sister duo. There’s always a lesson to be learned and in this book their father helps them plant a vegetable garden with fun facts sprinkled in!
It’s perfect for preschoolers! Did I mention the illustrations are amazing?🍏🥕🥬🍓

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I will most definitely purchase a copy of this book for the library where I work!

Luke and Lottie and Their Vegetable Garden
by Ruth Wielockx

I received a digital arc of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I read this book with my 5 and 8 year old children. They appreciated all the illustration details and the variety of plants. This is a great book to read when thinking about spring and preparing to start a family garden. Sometimes information comes easier from a book than simply telling kids when they’re excited to do something so this can be a helpful tool to refer back to during the process of starting a garden with kids.

Luke and Lottie are back, and this time they learn how to plant a garden. This simple book starts with a box of dirt and goes all the way to the table.

While I found this book a bit overly simplistic at times, it's a good introduction to gardening for pre-school children. There wasn't much conflict, and the plot didn't follow the usual schedule of obstacles and decisions. Everything was easy–except waiting for the plants to grow! I liked the illustrations, and there were a few moments that made me smile.

Thank you to the NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

This is a simple and lighthearted tale about two kids going to the store with their dad for garden supplies. And planting a small vegetable garden. The illustrations were cute. Most of the story was easy for a 3-year-old to follow. However, they needed an explanation for “to sow a plant”. Since neither the dad nor Lottie explained it to Luke.

Luke and Lottie grow a vegetable garden with their family. Brother and sister learn the value work and the fruit of their labor. If you are wanting to grow a garden with your children, this book will be helpful for your children to know what to expect. The fun, the satisfaction, and doing something together as a family. All good things that our children need. Luke and Lottie are the role models are children need.

A special thank you to Clavis Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

Oh my gosh this is adorable. I love the concept of teaching children how gardening works and doing so in a way that teaches patience too! I loved the family element as well. The artwork was so well done and interesting. This is a keeper!

Luke and Lottie are planting a vegetable garden with their dad. This short story has cute illustrations and explores the aspects of gardening and various things that can be grown in a garden. This would be a great book to read to a child if you're planning on starting a garden or if the child has an interest in plants and gardening.
My only complaint is that I wish the book covered the whole cycle of gardening with Luke and Lottie to show the satisfaction and excitement when the seed that was planted is ready for harvest.

This is such a sweet book! I love books where little kiddos show interest in gardening and plants. In this one, Lottie and Luke find that their dad has created a small vegetable garden box for them. The trio first goes to buy seeds and plants. Then they work on the dirt and plant their veggie garden.
It’s now time to wait, and Luke is impatient. The book ends, but hey, we can be sure that the garden is well taken care of. The story is simple and cute. The illustrations are super good. The expressions are oh-so-beautiful!
The book is for kids aged 3 and up, and the language works for them. The illustrations take center stage, and I loved them all.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and Clavis Publishing and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The text is simple, so a beginner reader should be able to make their way through this, though there is enough challenging words- like vegetables/simultaneously/radishes, etc- that would require some sounding out and lead to learning.

Other lessons learned include various things that one can plant in a garden, how some plants grow, which tools you might need to garden, how to properly plant seeds/plants, that not all flowers are edible, that giving flowers to your mother is a nice gesture, (and should be encouraged when one is shopping with their father at the grocery store "cough" "cough") and that like plants, some things take time to develop and grow, and that's not a bad thing. Some things take hard work, and that makes the reward all the more sweet because of it, just like the vegetables they'll eventually harvest....oh, also to eat your vegetables to grow big and strong...which is always important.

This is a cute, fun book for young kids, and maybe it will even encourage a green thumb for some of them.
