This is a great book for those little ones who are interested in gardening. With fun illustrations, the book tells the story of twins, Luke and Lottie, as they plant new plants and watch them grow.
I love the illustrations. A great book for children to learn about growing vegetables and plants in a garden!
Luke and Lottie are a set of twins that go on many different adventures in their book series. Luke and Lottie and Their Vegetable Garden is a great book for younger kids interested in gardening or as an example before starting your own garden with children. The author does a fabulous job introducing soil and the difference between planting baby plants and planting seeds. The only different I would make is extending the book a little longer so Luke and Lottie and see the vegetables grow.
I want to thank the author, the publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for a honest review!
Super cute! I think this will be great for my picky eater first grader to help introduce new foods. He loves descriptive picture books and this is perfect!
This is a fabulous little children's book, which is about a boy called Luke and a girl called Lottie, who, along with their Dad, learn to plant and grow fruit and vegetable plants in their garden. My daughter and I really enjoyed the book, as we both love to do gardening, and I have already been teaching her how to grow fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers. The book is very bright and colourful and the characters are lovely. I highly recommend this book!
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Luke and Lottie are twins who star on a cute series of books. Luke and Lottie and their vegetable garden features brightly colored, super cute illustrations. The pictures alone are enough to spark conversation. This series is geared towards 3 - 8 years old. I often read with my grandchildren, the oldest is four and getting into early chapter books. Although she and her 2 year old brother enjoy this book now, 8 seems a bit advanced for this. I'd think 6 would be more accurate. for this book. Some of the words seem in thus book seem inappropriate for the ages that this is targeted too. For example, "Simultaneously". That's a really big word to explain to a 3-8 yr old when the text could have just read "together" or "at the same time". Another example, the young girl uses the word lovely as a description. I've never heard a child use that word as a description lol. We did really enjoy the book. Its super cute and fun, a great learning tool and conversation starter but just as it was getting started it ended with no real conclusion to harvesting the garden. I wished they had used a couple of pages to address how they took care of the plants and how they grew, and then how they were able to harvest and eat what they grew. Really cute and fun but I feel like this book fell short of what it could have accomplished.
This is a cute story about how the family sets up a vegetable garden. The pictures are nicely done. The story had many extra lines that seemed silly but I think that a toddler would enjoy.
This is really a sweet, simple story that I think would appeal to children about the same as Luke and Lottie. I like the details in the illustrations such as Lottie appearing to smell the good smells of the garden center when she steps inside and the smiley face made of vegetables on Luke's plate on the last spread. (Only one question: do people usually buy lettuce starts? All the lettuce I've grown was from seeds.)
ahhh this was such a fun book!!!!!! the illustrations were really cute and engaging and so was the plot! this book would definitely appeal to younger readers more, but nevertheless it was great! 4/5 stars.
This book was really informative and is perfect for young children, especially if there parents or grandparents want to teach them about gardening and where fruit and vegetables come from. Lottie and Luke are given a patch of garden by their dad in which they are able to plant plants. There dad helps to teach them how to plant fruit and vegetables, and even takes them to a gardening centre. This is definitely a good book to get your kids into gardening.
Beautiful pictures, along with easy to follow text. Although, it did not load correctly on my Kindle, I could still see this is a very vibrant book.
Luke and Lottie are introduced to vegetable gardening by Dad. Of course, kids take more pride in their own work.
A must for every child!!
What a cute story!
As an avid gardener I was interested to see how the author would introduce the process of growing to children. I loved that the author introduced both small plants and seeds to the children and have a description of how to plant both.
I also loved the additions of funny things to the narrative, like the sister making a stick “hat” out of the empty seed bag.
Very cute!
