Another wonderful addition to the Sunny Randall series filled with characters from the Spenser books, the return of her father, and a great plot. I don’t care for Sunny’s relationship with Jesse Stone so I’m glad to see there’s an alternative.

Oh, I do love these Parker books. I marvel at how the new writers have moved forward with the stories since Parker’s passing. This was a terrific Sunny Randall novel. Lupica brought back the characters who have surrounded Sunny in the past. I particularly delighted in her father, the perfect retired policeman who never acknowledges his age or weakness.

Sunny has been bouncing back and forth between her ex-husband and Jessie Stone (another wonderful series), but here Lupica moves her past that by introducing a possible romance. We were also treated to appearances by the gang from the, Spenser series.

I simply reveled in this feel good reunion as Sunny solved the case of Melanie Joan, her famous author client and benefactor, who seemed to be surrounded by an alarming number of dead bodies and threats. This plot, with its multiple interconnections worked well for me!

Thank you Netgalley for this delightful entry in the Parker pantheon.

Reading the novels written by Mike Lupica is like reading Robert B Parker. He does so well with the characters and nuance. Sunny Randall is just the same ole Sunny
