Check your pockets. Bob Goff reminds us that "It’s what we put in them or keep in them that can become distractions. Regrets, resentment, hurts, and misunderstandings are all things that can become huge distractions."

This book is a lesson in how to stay focused on the prize. Bob Goff tells stories--his own and about others--of times when he became distracted and what happened.

Bob points out that it matters less what we are doing, and more why we are doing it.

"It doesn’t matter what the work is; it is who we become in the process of doing our work that does, and the goal is to look and act more like Jesus while we do it."

If you need to pay more attention to the things that matter most to you, this book is a good place to start.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes from Undistracted:

"Don’t be distracted by how different you are from everyone else. Our hearts were meant to beat together, not the same."

"Boundaries are good; barriers aren’t. If you build a wall, make sure you install a door or two."

"Don’t get distracted thinking about what your next move is or whether you will be acknowledged for your efforts. Go love people in extravagant, wildly inefficient ways by speaking words of beauty into their lives. Your words have that kind of power."

"It’s been said that there are two kinds of people. Humble people and those about to be. Be humble and you won’t be distracted trying to look important."

"I used to spend my time doing things that worked. Now I’m trying to do things that last. It’s a subtle difference but an important one."

My thanks to NetGalley and Nelson Books for the review copy of this book.

I just could not get into this book. I have read two other books by Bob Goff, and have found that they decline in impact with each new book that comes out. This was really disappointing. I ended up putting this book away before completely reading it to the end, which is why I gave this book 2 stars.

I love Bob Goff and the stories he shares. He really connects well to readers in all of his work. It's so easy to be distracted today with our phones, social media, emails, work, etc. I love how Bob writes in such a bright and positive way! He really helps you figure out your focus and priorities. I recommend this book!

As always, Bob Goff does it again! Undistracted is a book for anyone and everyone who feels like they have lost focus and need to refocus their life on God and all He created you to be. What a breath of fresh air and a book that I was able to truly take the principles and message and apply to my daily life. Will always purchase books by Goff for the well-written words with easy application steps.

Undistracted: Capture Your Purpose. Rediscover Your Joy. by Bob Goff is a call to return back to your purpose. The world cannot get enough books by Bob Goff. We need them so desperately and we need to share them with those around us. His unique perspective on life and what God has called us to shines through in this book. This book in particular is wonderful because it is a great tool to help readers check themselves in this highly technological world. With so much technology, there is no end to the distractions we face. This book helps refocus our attention on what really matters, on pursuing our goals once more. Great read! I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

Bob Goff, well-known author, podcaster, and public speaker, has a brand new book named, "Undistracted: Capture Your Purpose. Rediscover Your Joy." Throughout his book, Goff encourages his readers to live a live that is undistracted, which he claims can only be done once you know your true purpose. He supports this claim by including personal anecdotes and Scripture references. This book was easy to read and very applicable.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

While there is nothing revolutionary in this book, it does read like a good pep talk from Bob Goff. And who doesn't want a pep talk from Bob Goff? His optimism and zest for life and Jesus is infectious. This book is motivating in how we look out for other people and are available to serve others. Bob puts his personal phone number in every one of his books. Did you know this about him? Can you imagine the calls he gets? He not only preaches how to serve others, he lives it. And this book is motivating and inspirational to do the same.

Bob Goff takes you through insightful stories to deliver his main message: watch out for your distractions so you can see clearly your big purpose!
Life is full of urgent tasks and distractions that both hijack our joy. The truth nuggets that the author insert throughout the chapter always point to Jesus.

Some of my favourite quotes:
“Get busy seeing yourself the way God sees you.”
“Think of phone use as cheating on your family”.

Goff immediately drew me in with the synopsis of this book! His writing style made me feel like we were best friends and he was sharing stories, wisdom, and nuggets from life with me. I made so many notes and highlights, and they're things I'll return to again and again for encouragement and focus. I left this book with a renewed sense of purpose for God's plan for my life and this quote in the forefront of my mind:

"We need to block our view of the things that hardly matter at all, stop returning to the patterns that do not serve our larger objectives, start recognizing what is temporary and transitory, and instead focus intensely on the things that will last forever: our faith, our families, and our purposes. When you direct your attention to these things, you will find your joy."

I’ve never had a big brother, but if the role were subject to referendum, I’d vote for Bob Goff in a heartbeat. The truth is that I have purposely avoided Goff’s work until now, having consigned it to a genre I’ve named “perky self-help books.”

One glorious discovery from Undistracted is that it’s not only NetFlix or the daily Wordle that’s stealing our attention from what’s important. A distraction is anything that keeps me from doing what I was meant to do–to “live a life loaded with legacy.”

I was delighted with Goff’s suggestion that I could actually “dazzle God” somehow with my little life, and I thought, “He’s right!” God is dazzled when his children “open the unique gift God wrapped” in us; when we “stop thinking we need a different ticket from the one [we’ve] already got”; when we “find the work he has given [us] and do it until the job is done.”

Perhaps the biggest gift from Bob Goff’s story is that he knows when to quit, and he’s not afraid to do it. He left behind a successful law practice to pursue his passion for encouraging people. When he became a grandfather, he cancelled seventy-two speaking engagements because he didn’t want to miss a moment with those priceless grandkids. This feels so affirming to my own personal choice to work as a substitute teacher instead of getting a “real job”– just so that I can be available to my kids and grandkids.

Perhaps most important for the evangelical community of my heart is this: “Most disagreeable people out there don’t think they are mean. They think they are right.” Whether or not you already have a big brother, you will benefit from Bob Goff’s warm counsel and engaging stories.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for providing a copy of this book to facilitate my review, which is, of course, offered freely and with honesty.

Bob Goff is unlike anyone else in the world right now. I consider him a modern day Mister Rogers. He’s challenging and poetic with his words and I appreciate his work so so much and so deeply.

I am a BIG Bob Goff fan. That said, let me add that "Undistracted" is his best book yet. In fact, since he publishes his cell phone number in each book, I just texted him to tell him how much I enjoyed "Undistracted". It was so good that I've been totally distracted for the last couple days. And that's a good thing . . . . just like this book.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Reading a Bob Goff book always makes me smile.

This time he shares priceless wisdom on living a less distracted life. How less of what doesn't matter will lead you to more of what does.

Do unending To-Do lists, phone scrolling, and all the latest headlines leave you feeling unfulfilled? This book will help you refocus on what you want to be focused on.

Another great view of the world by the whimsical Bob Goff. This author has a way of making you look at your life in such a different way. We all lead lives that are distracting us from the path God plans for our lives. Undistracted will give you tips to learn to focus back on what is important in life.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.

Bob Goff's books, including this one, contain anecdotes and stories from his life that relate to the topic. The topic of this book is "undistracted" which is about living a life free from distractions to allow you to truly appreciate the life you have. Bob Goff shows through the his writing some of the common distractions that we face and how to overcome them; he even mentions things that may be "good", but can still be distracting. A good book about how to overcome distractions to live the life God meant for you to live.

"Sometimes we are so busy looking up and looking forward trying to figure out the next moves in our lives - or looking backward at all the places we have been - that we don't look down and figure out where we actually are."

I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Bob Goff writes with unbridled enthusiasm for life. Like in his first two books, in this one he shares his incredible stories to illustrated the deeper points he is making. The overarching theme is that as a society we've become distracted from what really matters in life. I completely agreed with his premise, but didn't get into this book quite as much as his first two.

If you are a regular reader of Bob Goff's books, know that "Undistracted" is quintessential Bob with all the things you love about him, but no way is it a rehash or boring. New stories, but also new simple messages that directs us to deeper but usable insights. It's all the stuff you love about him, but even more. So if you're used to reading Bob, you'll love this one, too.

If you're new to Bob Goff, please definitely give this one a read. He takes a super-applicable issue for today (distractedness - hello, cell phones, busy lifestyles, too much to do, etc) and finds parallels to scripture and application that really do direct the reader to their knees in prayer, in thoughtful rest from the things that tempt and distract us. He brings the main thing back to the main thing in each story he tells. And his stories are the BEST. Always. His writing is funny, thoughtful, insightful, humble, and loving.

I wholeheartedly recommend "Undistracted" by Bob Goff with a big 5 stars. Thanks, Bob, for once again using your life to help others live better, love more, and laugh harder in every area of life.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

Bob Goff has a way with words. He writes in a way that has me hearing his voice and finding the humor or sarcasm in the pages. I always enjoy his books and this one was no different. It is entertaining with personal stories and also so full of practical wisdom to enrich anyone who chooses to read it.
