Unfortunately this book was not for me.

Pros:
LGBTQ friendly
Spoke about indigenous communities on Australia

Cons:
There are a lot of characters flipping back and forth that it was a little hard to keep track of each story line.
There’s a huge focus on superficial drama which I did not understand since they all just survived a huge catastrophic event.
The liss and Amelia “fight” made no sense and their chemistry felt forced.
The language used to describe people was very degrading, at one point the workers were called “the help”.

Final thoughts:
The book felt very long, I personally did not mesh with the characters and unfortunately this story was not for me. I think the concept was interesting but because I could not connect with the characters I did not love the book. If you want a book filled with drama and characters dynamics with each other you will like this.

This was such a good book! It felt very refreshing for this genre and I appreciated that. I will definitely be recommending!!

Summer reading with a side of natural disaster. There were many things done well with this book.
I liked that it is a light summer novel, and even when disaster hits, it’s still an escape and doesn’t ever feel too heavy.

Escape to the sun, sea and sand with "Island Time" by Georgia Clark! This book is a perfect summer read that will transport you to the beautiful islands of the Caribbean. With a diverse cast of characters and a satisfying storyline, I give it a solid 4 stars!

3.5 rounded up. This had a strong start for me. I enjoyed what unfolded and the characters. However, it lost me a little more than halfway through 😬. This book was over 400 pages and I think it would have benefited from being 100 pages shorter. I stuck with it though and was satisfied with the ending. It was a good read for Pride month with LGBTQ representation. I loved Georgia Clark’s debut so I will continue reading her books but this one just wasn’t my favorite.

This book was SO SLOW and it took so long to get into. I appreciate how I could picture everything very vividly in my mind though! Idk not my favorite, not my least favorite? Again, one of those I will try on audio and hopefully the narrator can keep me engaged and not keep wanting to put it down.

Overall, I enjoyed this story about family, finding your way, and learning to trust your own gut.

I'm very glad that I had heard that this was not a romance, as that changed my expectations in a very good way. I don't think I would have liked it nearly as much if I thought I was getting a romcom. Instead, the romance felt like a secondary plot point to the larger story around the family and how messy they can be. Every one of the characters had a moment or two where they were beyond frustrating and hard to root for, which I think mirrors life. Especially when getting stuck in a place together unexpectedly! Everyone has their moments after six weeks with no time alone.

I do think that there was a lot going on, and the book could have benefitted from going a little bit deeper in a smaller number.

The audiobook for this was very well done and I highly recommend it as the way to consume this book!

I struggled to categorize this book, but I think the best way to describe it is a family vacation farce. It's not quite a drama, not quite a comedy, but the premise is so good and there is enough absurdity and fun to call it a farce. We've got two very different families bound together by the marriage of their daughters, stranded on an island for six weeks, essentially by themselves with a few resort staff. What could go wrong? I liked the multiple POVs and reckonings and relationships formed, but I do think it felt a bit long. 6 weeks is a long time, and it felt like that while reading. Would be a fun beach read!

I enjoyed reading this lighthearted, engaging novel. It took me a while to get into it or warm up to it.

This book was so chaotic.
I thought it was going to be a cute LGBTQ+ romance but instead we get a family who acts like a bunch of children and nine different POVs. The pov part honestly really killed it for me because they changed so fast and there were times when I didn't even know who's thought I was supposed to be reading. Not to mention the main girl who comes out at gay says she's in love with the other girl basically after two weeks☠️ not a fan

This is a great summer/spring read and is fun and a quick read! There are two very different families that must come together to try to get along and endure a vacation for the love of their families.

I received this book for free from netgalley for an honest review.

Really well thought-out book with amazing characters and excellent setting.

I wanted to love this one. Family sagas are my favorite. I had to DNF at 31%. There were too many characters and nothing really happened in the time that I read it.

A great summer read, I can see devouring it at on the beach! The setting sweeps you away is truly the star of the show. A great diverse set of characters that you can relate to in one way or another. I loved the family drama and the love story too!

This book had a great setting and a lot of family drama. I liked it okay. Had nine different point of view so a little hard to keep everyone straight.

6 weeks stranded on an island off the coast of New Zealand sounds pretty amazing but imagine you are with family that you love but maybe that’s a long time. Plus being in close quarters brings some issues to light. I enjoyed this one but thought it was a bit longer than it needed to be to get the point across. I did enjoy the lessons about self love and learning balance in life.

I picked up Island Times a few times and kept trying to get into the story, but it just couldn't hold my attention. Wasn't the book for me.

I had a hard time deciding if I liked this book or not. Pros: The setting, family drama (my favourite), short chapters. The biggest con was NINE different points of view. I like romance books with well written side characters, but nine different points of view was too much. I finished it, but I can't say I loved it.

3.5 stars
I had forgotten the synopsis when I started this book because I was SHOCKED by that twist at the beginning!

While I think the loss in the event could have had more of an effect on the story, I have to say that Georgia Clark always brings such charm & humanity to their characters with their relationships with themselves & others.
We deal with a group of friends, families & strangers coping with the aftermath of a massive tsunami and having to survive; mentally, physically & emotionally until they are rescued on what was meant to be a private island vacation. If that isn't an interesting way to discover yourself and re-spark moments within you, I don't know what is.

I requested this one after absolutely loving It Had to Be You by Georgia Clark. While this was enjoyable, I didn’t quite fall in love with the characters or plot like I did in her earlier book. Appreciate the LGBTQ+ love rep, but it all went a but long & I was overwhelmed by the many story lines. Overall, I think Clark is a talented writer even if this story didn’t resonate for me. Would love to read more from her in the future.
