This is one sweet story you don’t want to miss. Then again who doesn’t love a fake fiancé turned true love romance? Especially one with some hiccups, laughter, and a lot of spice. Now I want to read more of this series.
This is the story of Holly, a shy girl in high school, who, although a pretty successful event planner now, still has a crush on Sam Wylde, the town's rich boy. While he didn't knew her back then, now their attraction is unmistakable and their relationship could be a great benefit for both of them.
This is a lovely story, flowing so nice it's a pleasure to read it. All characters are endearing, except the villain. I would have liked for his character to get a sort of closure, but maybe this happens in another book. There are some funny moments, Nana to the rescue :) And a lot of hot moments.
While I couldn't relate much to the characters the whole bunch was pleasant and the book is a winner for a good, spicy read.
I received a copy of this in order to offer my honest view on it.
This was my first read from this author and overall I liked the story plot but I was confused on some parts.
I like fake marriage trope, it brings some comfort and believe, that they will be good in the end and this story delivered it. Reading was fast, story was well progressed but I found some inconsistency that bothered me.
overall, nice read.
This book blew me away! I was unable to but it down. Perfect, dazzlingly, very well written. The details the author described throughout the book was so amazing. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Truly Amazing and appreciated the whole story. This is going to be a must read for many many readers. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! No spoilers. Beyond amazing I enjoyed this book so very much. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Could not put down nor did I want to. Truly Amazing and appreciated the whole story. This is going to be a must read for many many readers. Maybe even a book club pick.
Sarah Robinson's Second Shot of Whiskey is a contemporary marriage of convenience romance that offers all the feels. It's sweet, funny, sometimes a little steamy. It even made me cry. I loved Sam and Holly's chemistry and the whole family dynamic that threads through the story. It's one of those stories that engages you, entertains you and makes you feel good with it's happily ever after ending.
A great read for romance fans.
Seriously could not put down! I read this in one sitting and I am not disappointed!
I love the whole fake relationship trope and this was done exceptionally! Sam and Holly fig together so well and the spice was definitely there!
This book was the standard romance - boy and girl "meet cute", there's drama, they fall in love, there's a miscommunication...you know how it goes. While the plot was fairly standard, it was a quick read and the author had a fun writing style. The characters were likable, although not very fleshed out. All in all, a quick, easy read.
So many stereotypes and painful painful phrases. A very generic and hackneyed romcom with too many unbelievable coincidences and eyerolling moments from the first chapter.
This is a new author for me, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Holly and Sam went to high school together, now it’s 10 years later and he runs into her under the most unfortunate circumstances. I really wanted to like this couple, and in the beginning I did, but once I got past the first few chapters it jus fell flat for me. Portions of the story were rushed, scenes seemed incomplete, and the relationship between the two of them was really rushed which left a lot of unanswered questions. Honestly, my favorite character was the grandmother, loved her sass and throwing caution to the wind. Just an okay read for me.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
ARC received for review
Interesting take on the marriage for hire. Sam wants a date for his brother's wedding and Holly needs insurance to cover her sister's rising medical bills. A deal is struck, but Sam falls hard and fast in love. True love in the end conquers all.
I've read both versions of this (previous Wylde Fire). I didn't notice anything different, but this time the ending felt very rushed.
Holly is starting her business over in her hometown. She had always had a crush on Sam in high school. This is a fun story with lighthearted banter and episodes of hilarity.
Second Shot of Whiskey By Sarah Robinson
Sam Wilde asks Holly Glen if she can plan the event for the release of his company’s premium whiskey as the previous event planner has let them down at the last minute and Holly needs the cash and agrees. Sam then offers Holly a large sum of money if she will pretend to be his future wife when he attends his brother’s wedding then the fun begins.
This is a quick read novel that has everything- family drama, tragedy humour and some eccentric characters
A really enjoyable quick read many twists and turns along the way. 4.5/5
WOW what a sexy man!!
I need a Sam in my life. I loved reading this romantic novel. I read a lot of crime and can be quite dark but this is just what i needed.
Light hearted, romantic and funny. I love it when the characters are so well written that you fall in love with them but what makes it worse is when the book comes to an end, for this reason i really savoured reading it so It wouldn't come to an end so quickly.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Holly and Sam. Holly is an event planner and Sam own a distillery. Sam and Holly have each other their whole lives. Sam has an offer for Holly. Holly’s sister is in a coma due to a car accident that happened several years ago, that killed their parents..Holly is her sister’s guardian. Sam needs Holly to be his fiancé (fake) and he will help with her sister’s medical bills. They have their issues, but together they work them out and for real fall in love.
A quick easy read chocked full of second chances, family drama and a fake marriage. Sam Wylde is looking for a way to prove he's more than his family name with his Wyldefire Whiskey brand. He's hoping to leave his past behind him, which includes his brother stealing his high school sweetheart, but when his brand launch party is suddenly in jeopardy he's in need of a miracle.
Holly Glen doesn't have time for relationships, only her event planning business. She needs more money to keep her sister in her long term care facility, so she's overselling business talents in order to gain more jobs. Sam bumps into her in his time of need and while there's been some changes since they were both in high school together (like Sam being single), Holly's long time crush on the man comes roaring back. Sam hires her to take on his brand launch, he also proposes a fake engagement in order to save her sister and his family's constant meddling in his love life. Soon sparks fly and their fake engagement becomes more serious as they tackle family drama.
Talk about moving fast. I did enjoy this book but it felt like we rushed into everything. The relationship, extra crazy drama, then skip to a quick wedding chapter and we’re done, seems like some original parts were taken out that could have been needed. Would read another book from this author but we must fine tune our ideas and fully flesh them out.
Crazy obsessed with crush, meets once and agrees to scratch your back if you scratch mine. They were scheming and then fell head over heels for each other and then we have a “omg I can’t trust you!” Drama. More drama, then romantic finish
Standard fare with a few unexpected twists. A quick read that was a nice diversion on a slow day at work. There were one or two things that felt too easy to me, but I find that is characteristic of the genre, rather than any one author's work.
Second Shot of Whiskey is my first book by Sarah Robinson. Sam needs help launching his whiskey business. Holly is an event planner who desperately needs some money to help with some medical bills. Maybe they can help each other out especially since Sam needs a date to his brother's wedding. His brother who happens to be marrying his ex-girlfriend who cheated on him! Can a fake relationship turn into something more? Loved the characters in this story!
A Second Shot of Whiskey is a book that I wanted to love! The summary of the plot would have been great, had it not been so rushed. It felt like the two main characters just jumped into a relationship without thinking about it and it seemed a bit messy and all over the place to me.
I had high hopes with the synopsis and the title, even the cover seemed very attractive to me but in 30% of the book it began to lack substance, there was no background for the characters and it was as if parts were missing
.
I liked the characters but there was nothing between them but plow twist and meaningless drama
.
The story begins with Sam trying to solve the problem of the lack of an event planner for his the launching of his distillery while he is parking his car and a strange redhead steals the spot. After that crossing they meet again and he decides to hire her for the job
.
Holly can't believe she finally had the courage to talk to her high school crush so many years later and he needs her help, but she needs the money more to pay her little sister's hospital bills and even more crazy for him to ask her to be his fake fiance date for his brother's wedding with his ex-girlfriend
.
They jump from that point of being strangers to being attracted to instant love , fake relationship, fake wedding and just twist on twist to the end.
.
There's no shortage of spicy scenes, but without chemistry, it's just that. It seemed to me that there was much more to explore and that it was left in nothing more to say
.
Thanks to Sarah Robinson for give me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion
