I love baking sweet treats, especially cookies, so when I saw a cookbook called, Crazy for Cookies, Brownies, and Bars… well, the deal was sealed!

Dorothy Kern is a new author for me, but when I got a load of some of their other titles, I knew I’d be adding a few to my wish list! I’m particularly tempted by Dessert Mash-ups! Though I digress.

Dorothy Kern also includes fantastic tips and tool recommendations.

Just to tempt you with a few: Banana Nut Cookies, Toffee Chippers, and Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies. Not only do these recipes sound scrumptious, but the photos will encourage you to make each one!

If ever there were an "ultimate" cookie book, this will be it! It has great variety, including no-bake and specialty cookies such as stuffed and skillet cookies. The photography is stunning--I think I gained 10 pounds just looking at the photos! And, I really enjoyed reading the author's introduction to each recipe. Here are just a few of the unique recipes included in this book: Stuffed Carrot Cake Cookies, Lime in the Coconut Cookies, Mochadoodles, Orange Dream Cookies and Cinnamon Blondies. I will definitely be buying this cookbook for myself and also for friends/relatives who love to bake. Outstanding!

If you're looking for a cookbook filled with easy, quick, and yummy recipes with drool-worthy pictures, this is it! This book has about 85 recipes that are easy to follow with ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry. From cookies, to bars and brownies, you can whip up any of them on weeknights or weekends and enjoy with your loved ones (or all by yourself!)

I love this book for simplicity and fail-proof and yet easy recipes. Highly recommend!

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read and give an honest review of this book.

Wow! If you are craving a sweet treat, this is the book to pick up and start baking! The photos with each recipe are tantalizing. They give you a very clear idea of what to expect in your final, baked product.

The beginning has the usual basic information about baking cookies and bars.
If you are an experienced baker, jump right into the recipes. The author uses common ingredients found in your pantry. At times you made need to purchase
special chips or nuts you don’t keep on hand for baking. This cookbook is unusual in that it includes sections on stuffed cookies as well as ‘no bake’ ones.

The recipes I am most interested in experimenting with are:
Peanut Butter Patty Bars
Chocolate Chip Cookie Gooey Bars
Chocolate Caramel Pecan Cookies
Giant Stuffed Nutella Cookies

You will most likely find your own favorites in this book. I am looking forward to bringing some of these desserts to a potluck this weekend. I expect rave reviews!

Crazy for Cookies, Brownies, and Bars is a delicious, mouthwatering cookbook for any lovers of sweet treats!
This book is well set out and has easy to follow reciors and a photograph to accompany every recipe throughout the book. Some of these types of cookies, Brownies and bars I had never even heard of, and I want to try the whole book! I can see this being a great book to do fun bakes with your children, and I'm planning on trying out one of these recipes in the run-up to Easter with my daughter! All ingredients look as though they are easily found in almost all supermarkets, which ticks a big box for me!

The first thing I'm going to say is, buy this book. Secondly, if you're not following Dorothy Kern on social media, stop and go find her. I follow her on Instagram at @crazyforcrust, and she's Crazy For Crust across all platforms. Lastly, get ready to bake up some truly tasty treats for family and friends. Why? Because Dorothy Kern truly has her finger on the pulse of home baking, and that's clear to see in Crazy For Cookies Brownies & Bars.

Filled with cookies and bars, stuffed cookies, no bake cookies, and even treats for your four-legged friends. This beautifully photographed, easy to read cookbook just begs to be read, poured over, and baked from. Listings of useful tools and tips, rules for success, Crazy For Cookies Brownies & Bars is the number one thing any baking book should be: approachable.

Trust me when I tell you that there is a cookie for everyone here. I'm a huge fan of coconut, and even I'm not left out with - count them - three recipes! The coconut Cornflakes Cookies are so good! And the Bacon And Caramel Brownies? Mike drop moment. Want to hop on the stuffed cookie craze happening now? Dorothy has you covered.

Measurements are given in American Imperial standard. They are also converted to metric right along side, so this book is giftable to friends across the globe. As a trained pastry chef, I know that weighing ingredients results in a better product, so I appreciate having that math taken care of for me.

Sit down with a hot beverage of your choice, and enjoy the gorgeous, full color photos, then make your choice for what your going to be making first. It won't matter if you pick a classic cookie, or try something new, they're all going be delicious. Nearly a 100 thousand followers can't be wrong

I already own the best cookie book ever, Farm Journal's 1971 "Homemade Cookies", a book so good that I give it as gifts. But 1971 was a while ago and bakers have done some exploring in the past 50 years. (It's interesting, though, how many international recipes there are in "Homemade Cookies", gleaned from immigrants from around the world.) Anyway, I think I can safely say that in 1971, margarita cookie bars weren't a thing.

The TOC of "Crazy for Cookies" reveals a taste for the new and different. Alongside old favorites like chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, molasses cookies, and fudge brownies, we find, in addition to Margarita Bars: Trail Mix Oatmeal Cookies, The Great Pumpkin Cookies, Almond Joy Macaroons, Death by Chocolate Brownies, Nutella Brownies, Salted Butterscotch Cookies, baked treats for dogs, and, a flavor combo that would have floored the Farm Journal editors: Bacon and Caramel Brownies.

The recipes are well written and include metric temperatures. Ingredient weights are metric and Imperial. The instructions are easy to follow. Ms Kern likes her brownies cooked more than I do.

The writing is modern too. Personal and quite informal. The photos are pretty.

I think this book will be a good addition to your bookshelf and it will make a good gift. Maybe bundled with the one by Farm Journal.

Yuuuummmm!!! This book is delicious! I’m off sugar right now and probably not the best time to be looking at cookbooks about sweets. I really can’t wait to make so many of these. I have added this to my amazon wishlist to buy for the future. I can’t wait to make the Mint Chip Brownies, Death by Chocolate Brownies, and all of the brownies! haha. So many amazing photos to comply with each recipe, which is amazing. I dislike when cookbooks do not have photos to go with the recipe. I’m a very visual person!

Thanks to Harvard Common Press for an e-galley of this book for review.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group/Harvard Common Press for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This was a great surprise for me. You see, I don't have a kitchen. I live on a military base and eat at the cafeteria, but I adore brownies! So, I was pleasantly surprised to see an entire chapter on no cook stuff. Yeah! These treats all look amazing, and I am trying to find someone with a kitchen to try some of these. Not sure where I will get the ingredients, 4.5 stars from me.

Crazy for Cookies, Brownies, and Bars: Super-Fast, Made-from-Scratch Sweets, Treats, and Desserts includes great recipes for delicious treats. The pages are well laid out, colorful, and include great photographs of the finished desserts. The author has included great tip boxes throughout and has the standard introduction of tools, equipment, essential ingredients, storing, and freezing tips. The recipes are separated into the following sections, which I have listed with some of the standouts.

Cookie Jar Favorites: Toffee Chippers; Trail Mix Oatmeal Cookies; Chocolate Chip Snowball Cookies

Brownies: Fudgiest Brownies Ever; Oreo Truffle Brownies; Mocha Brownies

Blondies and Bars: Brown Butter Pecan Blondies; Cinnamon Blondies; Peanut Butter Magic Bars

Cookie Cakes, Skillet Bakes, and Cups: Birthday Cookie Cake; Pinata Cookie Cups; Brookie Skillet

Crazy Cookies: Dark Chocolate Espresso Cookies; Mochadoodles; Lime in the Coconut Cookies

Stuffed and Sandwiched: Chocolate Caramel Pecan Cookies; Lemon Poppyseed Thumbprints; Birthday Cake Sandwich Cookies

No Oven No Problem: No-Bake Cookies and Bars; Ultimate Peanut Butter Bars

For Man's Best Friend: Dog Cookies for your BFF; Ginger's Gingerbread Cookies

Overall, Crazy for Cookies, Brownies, and Bars is a great addition to any home cookbook library. Although many of the recipes are similar or variations of ones I have used before, there are some new twists that are enjoyable. The author uses good ingredients and easy techiques, perfect for those looking to make homemade desserts that do not take hours to prepare.

Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Reader's Copy of Crazy for Cookies, Brownies, and Bars by NetGalley and the publisher, Harvard Common Press. The decision to read and review this cookbook was entirely my own.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy to review.

Disclaimer* I did not read this cover to cover! But instead check the ease of which I could personally follow the provided recipes.

As a food blogger I love finding recipes online. Especially when the instructions are so easy to follow.

I understand that a look of cookbooks these days come with the authors personal stories and how they can up with whatever they’re cooking/baking. But honestly, that doesn’t always interest me.

And I have to say this book is a win for me. I loved how it was all organised. And I especially loved the section for No bake cookies and bars!

I tried the chocolate chip cookie dough bars and they they turned out delicious!!

I can’t wait to try out a few more of the recipes I’ve earmarked for myself.

Okay, everyone who knows that sweets are superior to all other flavors are at the right place with Dorothy Kern’s Crazy for Cookies, Brownies, and Bars. I enjoyed the fact that Kern’s included both traditional baked recipes interspersed with new takes on old favorites! Andddd I loved that the colorful pictures were sprinkled throughout the book, because visuals are optimal for cookbooks, in my humble opinion.

I received an ARC from the author and publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Crazy for Cookies, Brownies and Bars by Dorothy Kern is a fun cookbook. I think it would be a great gift along with some cookie cutters, cookie scoops or a cookie sheet.
There are 85 recipes spread over 203 pages. There are a lot of recipes that I would like to try, like - Stuffed Carrot Cake Cookies on page 172. There are 8 chapters with the last one being cookies for your dog. That makes the book really special for my family and friends, we love our dogs.
My favorite part of the book was the Introduction - Know Your Key Ingredients, Frosting Tips, Tools for Successful Baking, Storing and Freezing and the Seven Rules for Successful Cookie Baking. I thought that all of this information was very useful in baking the recipes in the book and for baking in general.
There is information at the beginning of each chapter that gives you hints for that type of cookie. Like who knew that the best way to cut a brownie is with a plastic knife.
I liked that most recipes have Tips and Variations for changing up the recipe. There are great photos with each recipe. Each recipe has prep time and bake time to give you an idea of what you are getting into. She also shares a personal note with each recipe which was interesting and fun. There are cake options with icing and/or bar options for a lot of the recipes.
Down side of the book for me - no information about how to make the recipes for those of us with food allergies - my recipes have to be gluten free. So the recipes with Oreos and Graham Crackers do not work for me. Not sure how the recipes would taste with gluten free flour, or which one I should consider using. Also, we do not like coffee at our house, so we would have to figure out what to do about that item in a recipe or just skip that recipe.

This book is the perfect read for anyone who enjoys cooking "naughty" food! The cover was interesting, and it was clearly written.

The recipes in this book were fabulous - I admit to trying a few - and now I'm looking forward to trying some more!
