I love the premise of this book. I would liken it to Emily Henry's People We Meet on Vacation, so if you were a fan of that book, you might like this one.
Both of these main characters are awesome on their own, and I really like them together. I always like it when characters have history - good or bad - and feel it adds a lot of depth to the story if done right. This was done right. HOWEVER, one of my least favorite tropes makes an appearance in this book - the misunderstanding and everything goes to crap because they don't talk to each other trope. It is SO frustrating to me as a reader.
But the story is great, and I really enjoyed the book.
I tried about 20% of this one but it just wasn't working for me- I needed more romance & this one didn't feel super believable... after talking with some trusted sources, I don't think this book is for me.
This was a feel good cute romcom story. Road trip, friends to lovers, second chance. It was sweet and cute and an easy read.
If you love podcasts and friendship turning to love on a road trip well here you go.
It’s not my favorite but I didn’t dislike it
Sweet and refreshing. There is not much I love more than a road trip with a crush! This hit all the spots for me!

This is a friends to lovers and second chance romance. I love Dee’s podcast and her friends. It was so much fun reading the podcast parts. I love how opposite Ben and Dee are though I felt their chemistry wasn’t all the way there for me. I did enjoy the read and would recommend to those who love road trips and friends to lovers trope. Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this in exchange for a review.

This book was absolutely adorable! It was a little slow at the beginning, but aside from that, it was quite lovely. The parts that stole the show for me were definitely with the podcast!
I love that this one featured working through issues from the past and learning to trust and work together while having forced proximity with their road trip.
This was a very cute romance. I really felt for both of the characters, and as I was reading, I was rooting for them both. I LOVED that there wasn't really a huge blow up scene in the 3rd act. Without giving any spoilers, I was so proud of both Dee and Ben. I felt like the stuff regarding Ben's family was quickly glossed over and I would have appreciated some more detail there, but overall this was a cute romance with more depth than I was expecting.

3.75/5 stars!
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Pub for sending me an E-Arc of this book for an honest review.
I was super excited to read this book because I loved Bridget Morrissey’s first adult romance, LOVE SCENES. This book has second chance romance, friends to lovers, a road trip, a cat named Abe, and two very unique and fun MCs that I really enjoyed getting to know.
I think that the banter in this book was spot on, but I did feel a bit disconnected from our two main characters throughout the book. I feel like I could have used some more time with flashbacks or more time in their past.
Overall, this was a cute book, but I wanted a bit more emotion from it. However, if you love friends to lovers romances then I do recommend picking up this one!
Thanks for reading!

A Thousand Miles is an easy and cute read and you'll get pretty hooked from the beginning! This was my first Bridget Morrissey and I was really impressed. The build up was good and super satisfying, it's an awesome feel good rom com you are sure to enjoy!
There's not much that sticks out in my mind about this book being insanely good. Like it was a nice read, but it isn't one that I'd obsess over forever. Overall, it was a good afternoon book that had some good plot lines and the love connection between the two mcs made it worth it.
Cute book about reunited friends, their misunderstandings, growth and character development over the 10 years when they were not speaking to each other. A fun road trip book that has some twists and bumps along the way. Quick, light read
From the first paragraph, I knew this book would be a good one. I immersed myself into the book from the first chapter and I cannot say enough good things about this book! Honestly amazing! The writing is incredible and the plot is just one to die for. I am absolutely obsessed with this book. My favorite part would have to be the character development throughout the book. Character development is something I look forward to and this book did not disappoint.
This was my first book by Bridget Morrissey and overall I really enjoyed it! It had a handful of tropes that had me excited to pick it up - second chance romance, road trip and forced proximity. From the start, the banter between Dee and Ben was so fun and there was a great buildup of tension in the beginning.
What gave me a bit of pause in my overall feelings was that at times the pacing felt a bit off - it seemed like they went from anger and being steadfast that nothing romantic would happen to making a move on the next page. I also found their "big split" from the past to be a bit underwhelming.
Overall, I think this is a fun contemporary romance for readers to pick up!
A thoughtful, mature read about the way the past can impact your future in big and small ways. Plenty of fun rom-com moments along with some more introspective drama.
I finished this book a couple weeks ago and now that I'm sitting down to write the review I'm realizing that I can hardly remember even the most general pieces of this book. That tells me that one: I should have written the review closer to when I finished the book, but most importantly that two: I can't give it more than 3 stars because it didn't really stick with me. Books that I love will stick with me for such a long time, whether it's actual details of the book or just the feeling I had while reading it. That's not the case with this book, it was just kind of meh.
I honestly didn't care one way or another whether Dee and Ben reconciled by the end of the book. I didn't care too much for either of them as individual characters so it was hard for me to care about their relationship. Dee was kind of annoying and I couldn't place her character. She seemed to go from being reserved to being very bold in the blink of an eye and it was just kind of confusing. Ben seemed kind of passive; he never seemed to really take charge of the storyline in a way that I enjoyed.
There wasn't much of a focus on the road trip which was pretty disappointing. I thought that it would have more of a presence in the story given the summary and the book cover but it seemed to be happening in the background. I was expecting the characters to bond over road trip mishaps but that didn't seem to happen.
The writing style wasn't my favorite, either. The characters seemed to be relatively undefined, the relationship between Dee and Ben developed strangely, and it seemed to be the kind of book where nothing was actually happening and there was just the appearance of things happening. The one aspect of the book that I found myself enjoying was the podcast. It seems like a podcast that I might try listening to, and I liked Dee's co-host and best friend. I liked the podcast excerpts mixed in with the rest of the book.
Overall this just wasn't the book for me. I didn't care for the characters and the plot seemed overall boring and uneventful. Nothing really stuck with me after finishing reading like I want from a really good book. I personally wouldn't recommend this book to other readers. If a friend strongly recommended another of the author's books I'd give it a shot but otherwise I likely won't read more from her in the future.
I’ve been wanting to go on a road trip for a while now, but it’s not possible for us right now. So, when I saw that A Thousand Miles revolved around a road trip as well as a second change romance, I knew I had to read it. Plus the cover is super cute!
Now having read it, I’m happy to say that there was a satisfying amount of plot focused on the road trip itself. The second change romance was also great! And I liked that there was also a podcast in this one, which I found to be very entertaining (especially in the audiobook version).
I found the characters to be likeable, and by the end of A Thousand Miles found that I would have liked to spend more time with them. They both felt real and relatable. I also definitely felt the chemistry between them as well as the pain.
A Thousand Miles definitely pulled on my heartstrings with this romance plot but also with some of the aspects of the story. The plot also touched on grief and generational trauma. So, it should come as no surprise to those of you following my reviews for a while that I cried, haha. I also laughed and there were heartwarming moments too. Definitely a good read for summer!
I love a good rom-com. Something I can get lost in and completely enjoy. So when this request for the book came across my email and I read the blurb I knew that I wanted to read the book. It seemed like the perfect summer by the pool read. I couldn’t wait to start it. However, some family emergencies I had to attend to caused my delay in reading it but I read it as soon as I was able to get back into the swing of things.
Dee and Ben were the best of friends in high school. They secretly loved each other. They were each other’s “first”. That changed quickly one day in high school and Dee never knew why. Fast forward 10 years, Ben shows up at Dee’s door asking her to go on the road trip that she promised to go on 10 years prior to dig up a time capsule. This leads to a 1000-mile road trip. This book was ABSOLUTELY the best rom-com ever. I would binge-read large sections of the book staying up until all hours of the night reading it because I kept telling myself just one more chapter or page. I loved all the main characters. They didn’t have anything wrong with them that annoyed me. They were relatable on their own level. I think my favorite thing about the book was that it wasn’t never that annoying will they won’t they routine that so many books have. You kind of knew from the writing on the wall that they would totally end up with each other.
I think I liked Dee the best. She knew what she wanted and at times she wasn’t afraid to get what she wanted. When it came to Ben she knew what she wanted and she was going to fight for what she wanted. He wanted her but there was so much between them from high school that they needed to clear up first. He was a lot more tentative with the whole thing than she was. I loved the way the book was broken down by state and the events that happened in each state. I was rolling with the whole escaped cat on the Colorado Rockies baseball field. Just the vision of the cat with the two of them with 5 beers on board chasing the cat had me cracking up. I liked how the 1,000 miles were for the road trip but in my mind, it was also for the 1,000 miles it took to find their way back to each other. It took all that time to find their way back to each other. It wasn’t a quick thing. There is some sex but it’s written in such a way that you know they did it without all the pomp and circumstance that sometimes go with your typical romance book. I will certainly be keeping an eye out for more books by this author I loved her writing style.
This book was a good summer read. I thought it was a little lack luster in the swoon department, which is kind of hard with friends to lovers in general. I thought this was like an off brand of People We Meet on Vacation...
A Thousand Miles was my second book by Bridget Morrissey but definitely my favorite. It follows Dee and Ben, old friends that reunite to go on a road trip together after years apart. This was such a unique concept and I loved the road trip setting. There was so much chemistry between Ben and Dee, and I really enjoyed reading about their romance. I will continue to read books by this author!
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC!
I love friends-to-lovers/second chance stories, and this one started off promising, but ultimately fell flat for me at the end, I didn’t feel like I ever got a clear picture of what led to their rift in high school (the story really needed a flashback) and then they got together too easily in the present.
