3 for neutral, was unable to access my netgalley account for months, until today. Because of this, I was unable to see which books I needed to read. I apologize for the inconvenience and hopefully will not have any more issues in future.
Thank you to Crooked Lane Books and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
The Wrong Woman by Leanne Kale Sparks is an unputdownable police procedural and thriller. The story revolves around Kendall, an FBI special agent. One day, her best friend and roommate, Gwen, is found murdered. Who could have done such a thing? Was it Gwen's boyfriend, Ty? Was an angry coworker at the restaurant where Gwen worked? Or was it someone who was actually after Kendall instead?
Here is a chilling excerpt from the Prologue:
"He dumped her next to a tree bordering the tenth tee. Taking out the trash. He smiled at his own wit - one last cooking metaphor, perhaps - blew her a kiss, and walked away.
There was work to be done... His next kill would be unique; his next victim, a message. The woman who had turned his world upside down.
Kendall Beck was going to regret the day she'd entered his life."
Overall, The Wrong Woman is an unputdownable thriller that will appeal to fans of the Unsub series. One highlight of this book is the electrifying climax, which was thrilling to read. I did take off 1 star, because I was confused at first with all of the characters and with the dual 3rd-person perspective from Kendall and Adam, another officer. Eventually, though, everything made sense and came together. If you're intrigued by the excerpt above, or if you're a fan of thrillers in general, I highly recommend that you check out this book, which is available now!
I tried to read this, but I just could not get into it and ended up putting it down. It was not keeping my attention. It may have just been the wrong book at the wrong time for me.
What I read was well written. Nothing wrong there. The story just wasn't pulling me in.
Loved this book!
The story started off from the first word and kept me wanting to turn the pages one after another to find out who did it. Good characters and suspense.
Can’t wait to read more by this author.
I enjoyed the twist and turns but was not WOWED by them.
Book was somewhat of a let down, but I am thankful and would give this author another change with another story.
I have to admit that I was drawn into this book first by the cover. The cover gave me the visual of this book being good. I did enjoy the entertainment from the suspense hovering over Kendal and Adams different cases. I thought that the writer did a great job of spelling out the details of both stories and then bringing them together. The story offered some amazing entertainment in the world of criminals and the law enforcement who track them down and brings them to justice.
I have to give a thumbs up to the writer of writing in the killers part in their part of stalking their prey and the killings. I thought these scenes were excellent in the descriptions supplied for the readers imagination. Until next time my fellow readers… read on!
Thank you so much @netgalley, @crookedlanebooks and Leanne Kale Sparks for this amazing ARC that was published 8th Feb
From the start the book hooked me and it was packed full of action. I loved the short chapters and the ending.
This is an amazing suspense and action packed thriller!
*received for free from netgalley for honest review* Pretty good and entertaining read, liked the characters and the twists were good, the ending was a surprise for sure lol
First time reading this author and I wasn’t sure what to expect but it hit all the boxes for me! FBI Agent Kendall Beck loses her best friend Gwen and must help Denver PD solve the case while still solving her current case against a child. Murder, mystery, and solid story line make this one a great beach read!
The Wrong Woman by Leanne Kale Sparks is a quick read; I suppose I could have finished it in one day if I had begun it over the weekend; beyond that, the plot stings! I highly recommend this book. Thank you to NetGalley

FBI Special Agent Kendall Beck is the only survivor of the deadly Serial Killer they call 'The Reaper'. To deal with all the completely messed up stuff from her dealings with this super bad dude Kendall throws herself into getting justice for victims of serious crime.
Kendall is neck deep in a particularly tragic case when her best friend Gwen is found dead - this derails Kendall and she sets out to find the answers to her friends demise. Teaming up with detective Adam Taylor there is some very worrying evidence against Gwen's finance Ty and to top it all off 'The Reaper' is back and ready to wreak more havoc.
First of all, the synopsis of this book make it sound like you are in for a serial killer thriller, YES there is a serial killer in this book... JUST. The book focusses so heavily on so many things other than the killer, the crimes and even Kendall's traumatic past that you feel a little lost with what you are supposed to be reading. Well I did anyway... the story flowed ok... really it was only ok.
It kind of jumps around and its like the author really wanted all this action and had lots of great ideas for thrilling the reader. When really all that ended up happening was a lot of talk and some boom right at the end that was more like a bang and it was unsatisfying. I literally rolled my eyes when I realised what was happening with the so called 'Reaper'.
If the missing serial killer plot wasn't enough there is Kendall's child abuse case that kind of seems random and she works on it whenever she feels like it oh and we had to have a Russian mob story thrown in as well - honestly it was just all too much and none of it came together nicely.
I read it, I wish I can say it was better but it was a chore unfortunately.
Thank you to NetGalley, Crooked Lane Books and the author for an advanced copy for my honest review.

The Wrong Woman by Leanne Kale Sparks follows FBI Special Agent Kendall Beck, the only survivor of the serial killer the “Reaper”. While she is already focused on working a particular case involving the disappearance of five-year-old Emily Williams, her best friend/roommate Gwen Tavich, is found dead.
I thought this story sounded so good, intriguing even, and especially with the multi-storyline aspect that I’m usually drawn to in thrillers, I thought I would really enjoy this, but I can’t say I did.
I personally found that I was pushing myself to finish this one. Skipping through details I felt didn’t matter, information that just didn’t add to the story nor the characters.
It just reads boring and bland. Definitely a slow read. Nothing seems too really “get good” until the 75-80% mark. And although the whole thing does connect at the end, it just seems a little far-fetched.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and PR by the Book for a review!
Formatting errors in manuscript made this book unreadable for me. Several lines were cut off, or the first letter lingered on the sentence above, there was also double spacing in sections there shouldn't have been, and no indentation. Due to this, I did not finish.
Excellent story. This kept my attention, so much so that I fell asleep reading it and when I woke up I went right back in to find out what happened. Chapters are short, but are full off information and dialogue. Everyone is a suspect, until near the end. Definitely will recommend as a must read.
I really enjoyed this book, I found it hard to put down! It drew me in immediately and did a great job of keeping me hooked. Adam and Kendall were both great characters who I’d love to read more about. While I had my predictions, I was still a bit surprised at the ending. I did feel there were a couple unanswered questions, but overall, it was a great story. I plan to read more by this author.
In The Wrong Woman we meet FBI agent Kendall Beck whose current case has her looking for a missing child. This case takes a lot out of Kendall. During this time her roommate goes missing as well. The local police department is reluctant to search for a grown woman who appears to have taken off. Soon they'll all know that was not the case.
What happened to Gwen while driving Kendall's car?
Detective Adam Taylor has a lot of questions for Gwen's fiance but things don't add up. And he's asking himself who is Kendall Beck? What's her story?
This book will take you on a ride full of suspense until the very end,
Thank you #NetGalley and #CrookedLaneBooks for this ARC
The title has many hidden meaning in the book. I love the cover and that’s was drew my attention. The story follows an FBI agent was a past and a Denver detective and they work several cases at the same time. I imagine this is similar to real life as police have more than one case at a time.
I loved the relationships between the characters and was a little surprised at who ended up playing bigger roles in the story. I would recommend this book to anyone who love crime thrillers with multiple things going on. I hope the author writes more books with these characters.
