Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. I really enjoyed this domestic thriller packed with family secrets that kept me guessing as they were slowly revealed. I was captivated by Liz's search to find who killed her sister Meredith and why. This was a fast-paced thriller that was hard to put down. Just when you think there cannot be any more family secrets to be revealed....buckle up! I loved the way it all came together, it was just what I love, great twisty plot, disturbed people, secrets and a murder. #scrichards #wheresecretslive #crookedlanebooks #tea_sipping_bookworm #goodreads #thestorygraph #getlitsy #bookqueen #bookstagram

This was SUCH a thrill ride vibe. Family secrets, mystery, murder, and intrigue! Swoon. Really well written and absolutely un-put-down-able. I recommend this story to anyone who enjoys Lisa Jewell or Shari Lapena. It will keep you on your toes.

Let me start off by saying that I binged this book in one day, propelled by the need to know who killed Meredith. However… I just finished and… I’m left with more questions than answers.

Where Secrets Live has a strong start but somewhere along the way becomes so convoluted and complicated, with twist after twist and reveal after reveal… so many with guns showing up at JUST the right moment… with zero time to process any of it.

The end feels as though everything is wrapped up but I still have so many questions!

This debut novel from S. C. Richards shows a lot of potential. The author clearly has talent and I am hoping future releases have a bit more clarity and intention.

I LOVE a good family secrets type story. This delivered. Without spoiling anything, I loved the direction this took- bringing back a child that was given up for adoption, digging into the difficult past of the young mother, murder mystery. This had everything I wanted in a book. It's hard to keep me guessing after I have read so many thrillers but this did a great job of it. It does deal with some heavier topics that should probably have a trigger warning but overall a good read

This is another one of those pointless books; and actually very generic.

There was nothing in this that I hadn't read before; at times it felt like it was all over the place and there were far too many red herrings.

None of the characters were likeable, and there were that many that it got confusing a lot of the time.

Unfortunately a waste of time for me.

The novel is a thrilling ride from the start. McCalisters had taken generations to build a reputation. It always seemed too complicated to explain how dysfunctional the family was.
Meredith and Elizabeth and their cousin, Fred had been the last of the leaves on the family tree. Meredith and Liz's father disappeared in a boating accident when they were small. His sailboat was found capsized but his body was never recovered. A year after that, their stepmother, Ruth remarried.

However, Liz starts feeling distanced, and after one unanswered call from Meredith then she's gone. She was shot in her house at close range. The autopsy clearly showed that she'd given birth at some time. Liz realize that she had to know what had happened and a secret that Meredith kept.

I love how half of the book creates a trivial yet somehow intriguing scene. But, it did not last. The tensions between the secrets Meredith left and the people Liz is trying to reach while chasing a goose are not really hooked but at the same time, it deals with the serious topic such as child abuse and mental health.

I was not a fan of the writing. I couldn't connect with the character and didn't care about anything that happened so I dnf-ed the story

3.5 stars

This one sounded promising, and while it was a bit of a twisty mystery, I didn’t love the subject matter of the ultimate conflict, and my attention definitely wandered at a couple different points. I liked the protagonist and some of the other characters, but I wasn’t a fan of others, and for whatever reason, I kept mixing up a few of them. Not a bad book overall, just not my favourite in the genre.

Definetely a must read. The right amount of suspense and tied up neatly at the end which a lot of readers like. Strong characters and would recommend.
