A really fast paced and enjoyable thriller I read this in two days. Amazing. For fans of unpredictable twists and turns this books for you xx
“Our biggest strengths can become our weaknesses if we’re not careful”
A breath-taking, emotionally driven thriller where two sisters are ready to do everything in her power to protect each other!!
I loved every second of reading this book and I already can’t wait for it to be out in September so that more people can experience it.
It was a great thriller that at the beginning gave me so many “the Hunting of Hill House” vibes but it turned out to be so much more than that!!
I’d recommend to check trigger warnings before reading it but it’s definitely worth it.
The investigation leading to finding out the truth, the lies hidden to protect, the people our main character could rely on, and the ones that were ready to manipulate and betray her at her turn…
Even family is not exactly what it seems to be!
“I needed to know what brought her so much sadness”
It was great !!!
The sparkle of a relationship and the security another one could give, were anchor in a moment of doubts, pain and suffering too overwhelming to express.
But the truth is … you’d do anything you could for a sister, no matter the implication on yourself or your own life.
And that’s what this story is about !!!
Check this book out because you won’t regret it!!
“There’s got to be something in there that she didn’t want anyone to find”
A really enjoyable read with lots of twists and turns as expected with a novel of this ilk. I read it in one sitting as I wanted to find out what had happened and whether any of my hunches were correct (my main one was!). There are quite a few intertwined narratives but they all had resolutions and I enjoyed the characters involved. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is because one of the resolutions didn’t seem to fit in as well as the rest. I’ll be recommending this to my book club!
So freaking good. It started out slow but ramped up the tension and suspense to eleven. There were so many twists and dark divulged secrets. I gobbled it up. Well written with a pretty good cast of characters . . . my hmmm . . . red herrings.
Now, THIS is a thriller! It isn't about the whodunnit. It's about the why and how. I like the consistency and flow of the story. It's a wild ride with a bonus drop at the end.

I was home from work sick today and I decided what better way to rest than to read a new book. This book did not disappoint . When Elizabeth's sister Meredith is murdered Elizabeth can't seem to shake the feeling she could have intervened when she'd seen the change in her sister. Meredith and Elizabeth were left in the care of their stepmother Ruth when their father died . Elizabeth armed with guilt she takes on finding out who killed her . All the digging brings up a lot of family secrets that that her stepmother Ruth and stepfather David had buried and it isn't pretty . Elizabeth soon learns that both her and Meredith were abandoned by the people who were supposed to care for them the most. It was a great read perfect for a day off at home .
Where Secrets Live by S.C. Richard's was an enjoyable read. It started off a little slow, but gained momentum as the story went along. There were some unexpected twists and turns that kept me guessing. It all came together in a satisfying ending!
3.5/5 -- A fast paced, sleuth style "whodunnit" thriller about a dysfunctional family, its secrets and the power of greed.
Meredith and Liz McCallister, sisters raised by their stepparents, find themselves in a family that will stop at nothing to maintain their status quo. The book jumps right into the action with Meredith's murder and picks up speed as Liz resolves to learn the reason why she was killed. As she digs deeper into Meredith's past, she discovers her sister had secrets she knew nothing about. Each piece of the puzzle begins to unravel the web of lies spun to protect the family name. Who can Liz trust? Who should she believe? And just how many more secrets is she going to reveal?
Overall, this is an enjoyable read that kept me turning the page. It is unpredictable in the sense that it felt like there were too many storylines happening at once, especially in the second half of the book. The first half was very promising and I liked a lot of the supporting characters - Fred, Rachel and Edmand - but the plot got a little muddy about halfway through. In my opinion, less is more. However, I did want to know how everything was going to play out so for it to keep my interest is a win for me.
This is not a slow burn type of book. If you like family dramas and thrillers with plot twist after plot twist, this one is for you. Personally I prefer a little more of a build up before the big reveal. It never felt like there was one moment in particular that shocked me, but rather a lot of smaller twists and turns that made this story such a rollercoaster of a ride.

⭐️⭐️⭐️
Two sisters, one is murdered, one is a drunken ne'er-do-well who can’t quit interfering in the police case, which is under the improbable control of a detective that had a personal relationship with the deceased. Stepparents had raised the sisters after their parents died in different accidents, weird people living in the deceased’s guest house, stepbrother who behaves oddly and spends his trust funds faster than he can afford, nobody seems to love anyone. No one is likable. A weird ending where the drama keeps changing and people keep alternating roles, and everyone is hurting (physically) everyone else. It’s just a big old mess. I feel this needs some editing. Too many storylines after a promising start. #wheresecretslive #septemberrelease #murder #missingperson #missingbaby #greed #moneyissues #meh

A fast paced, hard to put down mystery thriller about dysfunctional families, secrets, and greed.
My favorite character was cousin Fred. He was fun, supportive, and brought a good balance to Liz. And of course it would be his mother that was a breath of fresh air, loving, and affectionate. And let’s not forget about Edman. Basically, this book had a great supporting cast (more than I mentioned) that I couldn’t help but love.
I recommend this novel, but be warned: you may accidentally stay up all night reading and forget to go to sleep! Oops

I was given a copy of this book to read from NetGalley!
I really loved this book. I’m super into thrillers/murders/mysteries and this book hit all three for me. I do want to put in a trigger warning for SA though.
This book was a super quick read and the plots twist, oh my lord. I had my suspicions but the ending, I did not expect. I was definitely kept on my toes. There is a lot of information to keep up with but I actually enjoyed it because sometimes I feel like authors don’t give us enough to go on and I’m left wanting more. All in all I’m glad the book ended the way it did, mostly because the main character deserved the happish ending that she got and I’m even happier that she gave it to herself. I loved the characters, well most of them…. and how it all played out.
I definitely recommend this book to anymore who loves murder mystery type books and good plot twists.
This is a really fast paced and exciting thriller!
I raced through it!
More of a sleuth style who dunnit than a graphic crime thriller, which is refreshing.
It is unpredictable and really well written.
A great read, easily worthy of 4 stars ⭐️
Family secrets are a given in any domestic noir novel. The key is how well written was the exposure of them and the explosions they caused to the family when held and then and then the repercussions they have on the characters once revealed. Merideth and Lizzie are sisters living in an upper middle class household where appearances and status are much more important than any family bonds. The book opens with Merideth being murdered and continues with Tom, the investigating officer and Lizzie searching for who, how and why? Lizzie’s quest is more a journey into the dark and often disturbing secrets revealed to keep the status quo of the family money and name. The second half was a little confusing with a series of sub-plots that didn’t completely flow but I enjoyed the book, and the transformative changes that took Lizzie through each of the reveals.
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, Crooked Lane Books and by #NetGalley. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
Great book about a twisted family, lies, and deception. Full of so much suspense, intrigue you won’t want to put it down.
This was a well-written book and I enjoyed most of it. I say most of it because once it got past the first half I felt the plot became too convoluted. Sometimes less is more. There was far too much going on and it was all very implausible, to the point of me thinking ‘this is getting ridiculous’. I had to know how it ended though so I finished reading it, and my 3 stars are based on the first half. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for an honest review.
I really LOVED this book. Every time I thought I had the whole thing figured out something else would happen and blow my theory away! I will 100% be keeping my eyes open for more from this author!
I really enjoyed this book, however I felt like to many issues was going on at once, I know they was all related and connected to each other, however I felt like way to much was going on and trying to connect the pieces of it all until the end was difficult. Other than that I really enjoyed the book.
i was really indecisive in rating this it was inbetween a 2 and a 3; think it’s a 2.5 stars from me. It was good with twists and really well written characters but some of the plot felt super forced and the writing style wasn’t entirely my cup of tea. just an average thriller - nothing i would read again but enjoyable whilst reading.
Where Secrets Live by S. C. Richards, published by Crooked Lane Books, is a murder mystery and I was intrigued by the blurb and so why not give it a try. And I'm happy to report, this book is so worth it.
Lizzie is a woman with some issues - be aware the book deals with sensitive subjects. And when she finds her sister a string of things are set in action that will change the outlook of her whole life.
This is a complex, intense read and I enjoyed the story very much till the last 10 percent. Then is changed to a confusing too much of everything. But until this point the story was just great, 4 stars.
**Thank you to NetGalley for gifting me an eARC of this book in return for my honest review**
This story begins with our main character, Elizabeth / Ellie / Liz, being rudely woken up by her cousin Fred, telling her that they needed to go to her sisters.
When they arrive things are as bad as they could possibly be. Meredith is dead.
Liz's life spirals out of control at the death of her sister, and the story unfolds that not everything is as it seems.
Her sister had led a secret life, one that she knew nothing about.
As she digs deeper into the cause of her sister's death, her whole family as she knows it comes undone. Everywhere she turns, there are more lies and more secrets.
Who should she trust? Who can she trust? And what can she believe?
Liz's resolve to help find her sister's killer, the cause of it, and all the secrets that had been kept from her is astounding.
The love she has for Meredith is endless.
The twists and turns in this book kept me on the edge of my seat. When you think you know the answer, another one pops up and makes you rethink it all over again.
If you like murder-mystery-whodunnits then this book is definitely for you!
