Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this title. I was interested due to the premise being something I could relate to just a bit.
Unfortunately, I could not get into this book personally. The female main character reminded me far too much of my mother. (Not a bad thing, but hard to disassociate when you are going into a romance novel)
I had to give up at 30%, as that association was just too much to overcome.
The first half of the book I enjoyed definitely more than the second half. The hiking part was funny and adventurous with all the accidental meetings and forced proximity. The rest was a bit sloppy and too-much-fuss-about-nothing to my taste. Overall, an entertaining and light-hearted read.
Many thanks to NetGalley and PR by the book for an ARC.
Thank you to NetGalley and Onyba for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wild at Heart is a fun and quick read about romance and self-discovery. I’m an avid hiker and the backpacking aspect of this story appealed to me. I was so happy to see roles reversed in this book with Jules as an independent outdoorswoman who can handle herself and Evan, being a newbie to the outdoors. Loved the main characters and what they went through to get where they needed to be.
Regretfully this is a DNF for me. I struggled to get submerged into this one - and I have NO idea what. Nothing stood out as bad, I just don't think this was for me. Still rating it 2 stars because I don't think it had anything to do with the writing.
Wild at Heart goes beyond the typical romance to show us what happens when new love meets real life. Jules and Evan fall fast and hard, in an idyllic setting (aside from his near disasters due to lack of wilderness knowledge). When they return to their daily lives off the trail, they need to figure out if what they have is going to last. I enjoyed each stage of this story and would read others by this author.
This was such a brilliant read. I really couldn't put this book down it was such an amazing story. I tried so hard to read this book in one sitting but in the end I had to sleep. so I just got up early as I was so excited to read the end it really was worth it. The story-line was epic so interesting, entertaining and heartwarming. It made me feel great and contained lots of emotions. It flowed so well at a nice relaxing medium pace. It is one of those romance novels where your heart just melts. Where you try so hard not to fall for the man. This is an amazing start to what's going to be a brilliant series of books. It was also a rather unique where the female protagonist is so scared of being hurt so it affects the decisions she makes which making for a gripping edge of your seat read. Will she won't she...
The character development was wonderful. I totally fell in love with the characters and became emotionally involved in there story. Which lead to this book being a real page turning novel. I couldn't fault this book in any way and I just loved the cover as to me it held great emotion. The settings of this book was amazing set in Seattle on the PCT Pacific crest trail. I really can't recommend this book enough. I know that your going to love this book if you love emotional romance books.
I will definitely be looking out for more books to read from this talented author.
Only the highest of praise goes out to the author and publishing team for creating such an emotional roller coaster ride that will have you totally engrossed.

This book sounded amazing and while it wasn't exactly for me I can see this being such a crowd favourite.
Wild at Heat by Stacy Gold is an adventurous tale about hiking through the PCT, making your own path in life and finding love again for Jules and Evan. What was suppose to be a month of hiking alone on the PCT for Jules turned into her rescuing an unprepared hiker not once but twice and she found that you don’t have to go about doing everything solo as long as you have the right partner. Evan was out of his element out on the trail and in life. He finally decided to make the changes he needed for himself and his beautiful rescuer helped him without needing anything in return. As they hiked together, Jules and Evan learned more about each other, life and what they wanted out of their futures. But can they survive together in the real world off the trail or will their respective baggage be too much to carry?
Jules and Evan both showed tremendous growth throughout each chapter both individually and together. Evan’s changes seem dramatic and all at once but were very much in line with someone finally doing things for themselves and perusing something they are passionate about. Jules had a lot of self doubt and guilt she needed to work through that she cling to and used as a crutch to not take the risk of letting someone get close to her heart. Evan was patient with Jules and met her where she needed to be and at her own pace while still standing up for himself.
Wild at Heat is the first book in a new series by Stacy Gold and the second book featuring one of Jules’ best friends Aly is coming out later this year.
Thank you @netgalley and publishers for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
This book sounded really good. But I did not have a chance to read it in time before it was due. I would have loved to have had read this one. I do think that I am going to buy this book and read it.
DNF at 40%. I really enjoy reading adventure stories and was into the start of this one - two solo hikers meet on the trail. However the execution/pacing just didn’t work for me. After over a week of reading I’m only 40% through and haven’t been excited to return and see what happens next. Calling it on this one - I’m not the right reader or it’s not the right time. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the advance reading copy.
As someone with a dream to hike the Appalachian Trail someday, this book appealed to me. It was a cute and sweet romance centered around hiking and the outdoors, which led to some beautiful scene setting. Jules is an avid outdoorswoman and Evan is a businessman with very little hiking experience. Jules ends up having to save him several times from danger which was a nice twist from the typical hero saves the heroine trope. I loved that the MC was a strong and capable woman. Evan is vulnerable and insecure, which is an often unseen characteristic in MC men. Jules was seeking peace and quiet and Evan didn't allow her to find that.
The book and the romance starts off a little slow, especially with Jules having sworn off men for a while. It was a weird mix between insta-love and very slow burn. There were a couple times I found myself silently yelling in frustration at some of the choices the characters made, namely Evan, that didn't make any sense. Even Jules came off as fickle and a bit manipulative at times. Both of them got in their own way. No one could or would just make up their mind and there was some miscommunication too, which was a little annoying. Just be happy already. The big question was if their relationship would thrive in the real world the same way it sizzled in nature. Sometimes the drama seemed a little excessive, but I guess it makes the happy ending more satisfying when the characters have to work harder for it.
Wild At Heart is the first book in the new Wild Love series by Stacy Gold. I was drawn to this book on Netgalley because I love a good nature story especially when there is a touch of romance. This also sounded like a bit of a comedy. I was excited to dive in and meet Jules and Evan.
Before Jules leaves on her hiking trip, she makes a vow of celibacy. The past year has taken its toll on her and she has become very guarded because of it. The hiking trip was a way for her to reset without distraction. That is until she stumbles upon fellow hiker Evan in the middle of the night. Or should I say, he stumbles into her.
Evan is a business man by trade. Or at least that is what he has been set up to be. Looking for a reset he decides to go into the woods. When he was younger he was a boy scout so he thought that he could handle nature without a problem. That is proven to be very untrue when he is caught in a nighttime rain storm with a haphazardly put together tent.
Jules and Evan are hilarious together. I loved the fact that the female main character was stronger as a hiker. Evan is honestly so helpless when it comes to being in nature. He is an adorable man though and is immediately drawn to Jules strength. He is an unexpected surprise that is oh so tempting for Jules. And when it is finally allowed to happen, their chemistry is hot enough to spark a fire.
For me, this story started out strong but then slowly started to feel repetitive. The characters both went through some growth but there were several times when they drove me crazy. This especially occurred when Evan left the woods and had to return to the city where all his insecurities lived. He had no problem looking like a fool in front of Jules but, he did not want to look like a fool in front or the people who he is trying to impress. During this time when the characters could have been yearning for each other, I found myself not fully falling for it whenever it happened.
The nature aspect of Wild At Heart is beautiful and so well written. I think this is honestly what kept me reading. Yes the romance was sweet and spicy but I was always looking to what was going to happen on the trail next. Admittedly, I would love to revisit this scenery and see how everyone is doing. I hope that is what the next book in the Wild Love series has in store for all of us.
This book started out kinda slow. Like hiking through the mountains would be. But it was amusing the way the heroine kept saving the hero from disaster after disaster.
Then things picked up in the middle - the hero had to deal with his life back in Boston, the heroine continued the hike and had to wrestle with plans for her future and whether or not she’d trust the hero to return.
But then their reunion, and the last quarter of the book, just made me cranky. The kind, sweet, thoughtful hero texts the heroine everyday, doesn’t insist on seeing her - even though he doesn’t know a single person in his new city, and gives her the space she demanded, sends her a quick text every day so she knows he’s thinking about her, and she only responds every few days because she doesn’t want to let herself like him? W. T. F. To me, her behavior came off more as manipulative and less as trying to protect herself. I get why the heroine felt so much pressure to make things work with the hero, but good grief I get so frustrated when characters get in their own way of happiness.
I ended up despising the heroine and didn’t like the ending much, at all. The middle part of the book was good, the beginning I didn’t mind, But that ending sucked all my pleasant opinions about this book right out of my head.

Jules and Evan both have issues on their mind and backpacking seems to be the answer to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday living.
Meeting not once but three times by either being wet or naked, the spark between them ignites.
I love how the story starts at the bottom of Seattle and works up through the national park. In between reading I was also checking up on google maps and seeing where Jules and Evan walked. It was helpful to get visions of the different locations and mountains in the area.
If I had to say something bad, it would be a part where Jules couldn’t make up her mind about a situation, for me I thought it was unnecessary and it could have been left out. But one the other hand I understand where she was coming from. I think it just annoyed me to be honest.
I will be looking forward to reading the other two spin off romance stories for this book, which is centred around Jules' two best friends love interest- Drive Me Wild and Wild About You (expected to be published 2023).
Wild at Heart is out now.
Thank you Netgalley and Onyva for the digital copy of Wild at Heart by Stacy Gold for reviewing purposes.
Wild At Heart was an interesting, captivating, smexy novel.
I was so into this book from start to finish I couldn't put it down until I had devoured every word.
I adored the naturalistic trip through the Pacific Crest Trail, the best thing is that you can admire this beautiful place staying comfortably at home sitting on your couch, and I tell you as a lazy, not so keen to get dirty, city woman. The descriptions are so detailed it seems to be out there sleeping under the stars, but at the same time they don't bore you.
Jules and Evan are running away from their unsatisfying lives, they meet while they are backpacking solo. They started their journeys to find themselves but they ended meeting their better halves.
I really liked these characters, it was a pleasure to see Jules and Evan grow chapter after chapter and to see how they overcome their fears of not being good enough, or of falling in love again risking a new heartbreak.
I've read some short novellas written by this author, I loved them and I can assure you Stacy Gold also wrote a great full novel. I can't wait to get her next book in my hands.
A modern-day flip on a damsel in distress romance where the heroine saves the hero in the heart of the Pacific Northwest. Jules is cursed when it comes to love and romance. She’s had enough so she takes a vow of celibacy for one year and spends five weeks hiking along her favorite trails. She delights in the solitude until an inexperienced backpacker named Evan crashes her tranquil serenity. She offers him advice and rescue, time and again. Against her better judgment and vow, temptation wins out. Sure, he’s got baggage galore, and he can’t seem to relax but there’s something alluring about him. It might be his naked body on display, or it could be his vulnerability. One thing’s for sure…you’ve got to be wild at heart to fall in love in the breathtaking beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Wild at Heart is the much-anticipated release by Stacy Gold and it surpassed my expectations. This romantic adventure will transport you to the trails of Washington State, so you better bring your backpacking gear. From the first page, I connected with Jules. She’s a very independent, nature-loving woman who loves nothing more than to hike along her favorite trails and enjoy the rugged beauty of the wilderness. She’s more capable than most men and this comes in handy when she meets Evan, repeatedly, along the trail. I loved the dynamics between these two. It starts out with Jules rescuing Evan but as time goes by, Evan does his own rescuing. Isn’t that the case in a healthy loving relationship? Each partner takes turns helping the other. The romance covers a few tropes and was such fun to read. What makes this a five-plus-star book, though, is the intricate descriptive narration. Stacy Gold is an experienced outdoorswoman, and she brings her zeal for backpacking and hiking to every word she writes. Her narration is so full of life, you’ll be yearning to explore outside just by reading Wild at Heart. A brilliant romance, Wild at Heart is your next bucket list read.
My Rating: 5+ stars
This was an okay book. I don’t like miscommunication in books this had that. I felt like it dragged a lot
I thought this was a fun, casual read! I loved the Simple Wild by KA Tucker and was hoping for more of those vibes. A+ on the outdoorsy content, it made me so happy and I felt like I was living vicariously through our characters!
As a nature girl myself, I loved all the camping and hiking aspects of the story but I did feel it went too slow at times. I love a good slow burn romance as much as the next reader but there has to be other things going on in the plot to keep my attention.
Wild at Heart is a slow burn romance between Jules and Evan. Each of these characters separately "hit the trail" to escape their frustrations in the real world. Although the brave, seasoned hiker Jules wishes to tackle the trail on her own Evan keeps turning up in her path. The story is told from both Jules and Evan's povs and we are given insight to their conflicts. Mainly can their relationship survive off the trail? The beautiful imagery had me feeling as I was taking the hike with them. In fact their romance reminded me of hiking- at times slow and easy other times difficult with never ending switchbacks I loved the discussion questions at the back. and the resources for women who hike alone. Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for a honest review. I highly recommend this slow, burn adventure romance and look forward to reading the rest of the series.. #WildatHeartwildlove #netgalley
This story follows Jules and Evan. I thought it was quite unique and entertaining following them on their hike. Jules is on a boy cleanse and decides to go on a month long hike throughout the Pacific Crest Trail. Jules hasn’t had the best track record with guys, they tend to leave her and go back to their exs. Jules is falling asleep when she hears some odd noises close to her tent, that’s when she see’s Evan in a full blown boxing match with his tent. Not only is it pouring rain but it is also freezing and Jules needs to figure out if she should let Evan fend for himself or help him out. Jules makes a lifetime decision to help Evan out, but she also has to remind herself that there will be no funny business throughout their time together no matter how good looking this guy is. I thought this was a cute story, following them on their journey was the highlight. At times this book was a bit slow and repetitive. If you’re looking for a book to read on a road trip this will probably be the book for you. Overall I thought it was an okay read, I felt like the story was longer than it should have been.
