This book is apart of a series and it can be read as a standalone. I have the other two books but haven’t read it yet but after reading this book, I surely will.

The story is dual-pov which follows the two MC. You get to see how they both are thinking in the moment and how they react to one another. I like how it tells both stories and what they went through to get to the current position. Although, the female character have some qualities that may not be liked, you find out why and how she’s that way. The male character have some traumas bug mostly are guilt. You see how they navigate their professional lives while trying to keep their ‘hookup’ contained. Does it worked? I recommend this read and even though it’s apart of a series, I felt that although I didn’t read the books, I got enough information that I understand the story.

This book put in perspective to take time for yourself even if your life is busy. Self care is the best care!

I took myself out on a "local" date today to Faneuil Hall to eat clam strips and drink beer and see one of my favorite performers play a show this afternoon. I also finished The Hookup Plan while I was waiting for the show to start - and let me tell you, the great food and live music were perfect complements to the writing of Farrah Rochon. If you've been living under a rock or have another legitimate reason for not being aware that the final book in The Boyfriend Project series publishes on Tuesday, please let me tell you why you should grab this book ASAP!
First, it takes place in Austin and it is all about the live music, outdoor adventures, and food trucks that make Austin one of the best cities to visit. I'm so glad I already have a trip booked to Austin in September (my canceled trip from April 2020!) because if not I would have been searching flights and Sixth Street hotels while reading this gem. Listening to live (free) music right after finishing this book left me in the best mindset!
Second, the MC is a pediatric surgeon, saving lives on the regular. She attends a 15 year reunion (let me tell you, starting the book realizing this year is my 21 year reunion was a little rough!), runs into her academic nemesis and strikes up a hookup plan - I can't say friends with benefits, because London is hell-bent against becoming friends with Drew. But their hooking up progresses and, as the reader, you witness authentic growth in the MC.
Third, Samiah and Taylor from the first two books are the truth-telling besties that anyone would want to have in their corner. I love how they formed a great friendship after meeting so randomly. I hear that today is International Friendship Day, so this is the perfect book friendship to highlight!
All this is to say: THANK YOU Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. This was one of my most anticipated releases of 2022 and it lived up to my expectations!! Please do yourself a favor and enjoy the first two books in The Boyfriend Project series (I'm so glad I discovered the first one from a little free library during the pandemic!) to get ready for this one and, if you can, see some live music and enjoy your weekend!!

Unfortunately I had to DNF this. I loved the first two so this was disappointing. It’s much slower than the first two were and London’s repetitive monologues about how they are not friends and bringing up things that happened in high school even though they are in their 30s and Drew didn’t ever do anything wrong got old fast. They competed to valedictorian so literally all he did was get good grades and she hates him for that - again, still, even though they are in their 30s.

I also just got such rich kid vibes with her not understand sometimes there is not money for the things we want in life.

This was the third and final book in this series by Farrah Rochon. I found this series to all be fun light reads.

This one focused on London, the ambitious doctor in the friend group. London heads to her high school reunion where she connects with Drew, her former high school nemesis. She decides that he would be a great hookup partner for one night. The one night leads to two and before she knows it she is seeing Drew every night.

There's some workplace romance thrown in the mix because Drew is in town with his company to do an audit for the hospital London works at. Through the time London spends with Drew, she realizes how wrong she was about him, and how issues from growing up how she did impacted her view on Drew.

There are some cameos from the Taylor and Samiah in the book, and it's always fun to see all the friends interacting.

Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I have truly enjoy The Boyfriend Project series books from Farrah Rochon - and book 3, about London, has been one of the best stories of them all!

London is a very driven doctor, attending her 15 year high school reunion, where she was not only class president (so helped plan the reunion), but also co-valedictorian! The other co, and bane of her existence, Drew Sullivan, shows up at the reunion and starts making life tough again… by making her fall into bed with him. She figures it’s a single night and she won’t see him again - he doesn’t even live there anymore! Until he shows up at her hospital on Monday, as the newly recruited company to audit and give recommendations about the hospital to keep running and not have to privatize.

This enemies/rivals to lovers, second chance, workplace romance (because of course, so many of these enemies to lovers are one-sided!) contains all of the best elements of this classic, favourite trope, with a fantastic steamy base, all the great friendships between the. 3 we’ve come to love in this series, and wraps the series beautifully… though I’m sad it’s over!

I highly recommend this book, this series, and most definitely the audio (for all 3!), to absolutely every romance fan out there - there’s a trope within for all of you! I rated it 4 stars but trends up a bit towards 4.25.

I received an advance review and advance listen copy from NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing), and this is my honest feedback.

Review of The Hookup Plan (The Boyfriend Project #3) by Farrah Rochon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved this entire series. Book 3 is about London, a pediatric surgeon who is almost at the end of her residency and contemplating offers from other hospitals. Her current hospital is undergoing an audit that will determine if the hospital gets sold to a private company, which London fears. She goes to her high school reunion and encounters Drew, her academic nemesis. But he’s grown up nice, and she finds herself attracted to him despite her history of hating him. They banter and find they have a mutual attraction. She is surprised to learn Drew’s company is conducting the hospital audit. They keep running into each other and embark on a hookup only relationship. Soon they develop real feelings and some decisions have to be made. Cute and spicy romance with appearances by the other 2 ladies from the prior books. I loved it.

Low Angst, Emotionally Intelligent Romance is Deeply Satisfying
4.75 Stars

Read “The Hookup Plan” by Farrah Rochon if you like:
✔ M/F contemporary romance
✔ Enemies-to-Lovers Romance
✔ Austin, Texas backdrop
✔ Black romance
✔ Third person narration with dual perspectives
✔ Hypertension rep
✔ Spicy romance
✔ Complete standalone but final book in The Boyfriend Project series

London Kelley is a pediatric surgical resident in her final year of residency at Travis County Hospital in Austin, Texas. She has hereditary hypertension and has been dealing with a great deal of stress in the past few months. She is at her fifteen year high school reunion which she also planned and is micromanaging. London runs into her academic rival from high school, Drew Sullivan at the reunion. Drew is a former hedge fund manager. They spend much of the reunion snarking at one another. London doesn’t know that Drew had a massive crush on her when they were competing in high school.

After the reunion ends Drew offers London shelter from a storm in his hotel room. London initiates a hook up (as a way to relieve some of that stress). Drew tries but fails to tell London that his company will be performing an audit on her hospital to try to save the struggling institution from being sold.

She runs out the next morning feeling a touch of shame that she slept with her old rival and calls her friends Samiah (The Boyfriend Project) and Taylor (The Dating Playbook). The three friends met when they all realized that they were dating the same guy. I love this group of women and the way they support one another. Samiah and Taylor think that London should continue to hook up with Drew to reduce her stress levels.

London and Drew hook up one more time before she sees him again - at her hospital. She’s a little upset that her former rival is responsible for the future of her beloved hospital. While they both approach the future of the hospital through different lenses they are both equally impassioned in their beliefs. They both want what they think is best. Although London can’t immediately see that Drew wants what’s best for the patients of Travis County Hospital, they both agree to a hookup plan while Drew remains in Austin.

I loved both of these characters so much. They might not know it at first, but they are both coming from such good places in their attitude towards the hospital. They both want to help low income and the underserved people of the county have access to quality health care.

“A person’s bank balance shouldn’t determine whether they lived or died.”

They are both extremely good at their jobs and competence is very sexy.

The relationships that London has with Samiah and Taylor, her Mom, her step-Mom and her siblings are incredibly valuable to her and rewarding to witness.

London and Drew’s relationship was a real pleasure to read. Joyful to see, their relationship is careful, supportive, loving, steamy, and adult. I loved how emotionally intelligent the characters and this book are (with a couple of exceptions). This is a deeply satisfying and sexy romance.

CW: narcissistic parent, sexism, death of parent (off page), childhood illnesses, heart disease

Summary
London is a successful pediatric surgeon, but her friends and her doctor, she needs to de-stress and relax. Samiah and Taylor think she needs a no-strings attached hook-up. When she runs into her high school nemesis, Drew Sullivan, at their high school reunion, she decides to take their advice, because Drew is just in town for business. Then at work the next Monday, she walks into a meeting about the review going on for her hospital and the consulting group coming in to see if the hospital should be bought out by a private company or remain public... and it's Drew's company.
Despite her disdain for Drew and being so upset that her hospital is in his hands, the sex is too good for her to pass up, so she offers up a no-strings hookup plan while he's in town. Drew may accept her offer, but he's also planning to convince her he's not the guy she thought he was in high school. London is NOT going to fall for him, because it's not part of the plan.

Review
I've loved every single one of The Boyfriend Project series. Having a series centered on female friendship, empowerment, and job success is so refreshing. The support Samiah, London and Taylor offer each other after the crazy way they met is friendship goals. I loved seeing tough London show her softer side. Drew is boyfriend goals! I appreciated the familial relationships and watching London realize how important her half siblings were to her and trying to build those relationships. I loved her mom and stepmom and the friendship they created. And while the relationship between London and her dad was sad, I also loved seeing London come into her power and stand up to him and realize that she could provide to her younger siblings what her dad didn't provide to her and make sure they didn't have the same insecurities she had growing up.
While this is a romance, the book is so much more and I appreciate that about Farrah Rochon's books.

This book series continues to get better. I think the author has improved on each installment with the next book. Wrapping up with London’s story, we get a great enemies to lovers story as she faces a former rival and tries not to fall in love. I continue to love the relationship between the main characters of each novel and their friendship shines bright in this one as well!

We all know that going viral can ruin lives but Farrah Rochon has shown in her Boyfriend Project series that sometimes there is a silver lining to the experience. The Hookup Plan is the third book in the author’s collection of tales about how three women gain notoriety for taking down a catfisher in a very public manner and then go on to find true love. You don’t have to read the first two books to enjoy this installment but I recommend them since they are fabulous.

Dr. London Kelley has been pushing herself to be the best of the best ever since she was a young child. She is so obsessed with perfection that when the chocolate fountain at the class reunion she planned begins to malfunction yet again she races over to fix it herself. And winds up with chocolate stains all over her red sequined pantsuit and makes a mess around the snack table. That, of course, is when the school’s most successful alumni, Drew Sullivan, saunters up to speak to her. London is convinced he waited for just this moment so he could once more one-up her.

Drew had a crush on London back in the day and is still fascinated by the driven, caustic, brilliant woman. He felt their old rivalry helped them to be the best they could be and he is damn grateful for the results. He’s a millionaire hedge fund manager well on the way to becoming even richer. London is a talented rising star in the field of pediatric surgery. For his part, Drew is ready to put the past in the past and see what the present holds for their sizzling chemistry. Which, after a string of convenient events, winds up being an awesome night of mind-blowing sex.

London isn’t drunk when she hooks up with Drew after the reunion but she does wonder afterwards if she had some sort of temporary brain damage to even consider being with him. The man had been her only rival in school and she still holds a grudge for every award he won that she wanted, and for forcing her to be a co-valedictorian rather than letting her have that honor to herself. Once out of his hotel room, London gives herself a mental pep talk about being entitled to a single bad decision and forcefully puts their amazing one-night stand out of her mind by indulging in comfort food and time with her besties. But within hours she finds herself back at Drew’s suite repeating the experience. It’s like she’s developed an addiction. The only thing keeping London from hating herself completely over her new obsession is the fact that Drew will be leaving Monday and she never has to see him again.

If you’ve read more than one romance novel, you already know that there is no way Drew is leaving Monday. What happens instead is that London learns that the real reason Drew returned to Austin wasn’t the high school reunion but an audit of the public hospital London works at. They’ve been considering going private and Drew is there to help them assess which, among many options, is the better business decision. Only London doesn’t think medicine should ever be about the bottom line. Once more, Drew and London find themselves in competition - only this time they have to decide if they can finally work together to achieve the best possible option or if they’re fated to remain adversaries forever.

I wasn’t loving this book at the beginning. London is so acerbic towards Drew at the start that I found myself actively disliking her. My idea of romance doesn’t often involve snide comments followed by hot sex, which is the plot for the first few chapters. Fortunately, that doesn’t last. London figures out fairly quickly that her behavior towards Drew is immature and based on her daddy issues, and she changes it. I liked that she remains blunt, opinionated, and driven - London doesn’t change her personality - she just stops being furious at Drew for the problems she had with her father during her teen years. Once that happens these two settle into a terrific relationship.

Drew has always loved that London is smart, outspoken, ambitious, and direct. Their new intimacy allows him to see the more caring side of her. Not only is she terrific with her young patients but she is genuinely invested in and concerned with the staff at the hospital, her two close girlfriends Taylor and Samiah, her mom and step-mom, and her young half-siblings. Drew has only his uncle left now that his mom has passed, and he loves how connected London is without even realizing how many people she has in her life. He also likes that she can be both caregiver and care receiver. She allows him to help her relax and plan surprises for her as well as doing those things for him.

By the mid-point of the story, it’s clear London and Drew are a perfect couple. Their shared history makes them very comfortable together and gives them a strong foundation for their relationship, and they have terrific chemistry from the moment they reconnect. They are also both successful professionals who understand what it takes to be outstanding and give each other the time and space needed to invest in their careers. Drew, especially, is supportive of London’s job while simultaneously encouraging her to take care of herself and have a life outside of work. I liked that they are independent enough not to be in each other’s pockets all the time while still being people who absolutely love being together. This is one of those stories where the heroine and hero feel meant to be. Once we get past that rough start, their love story is joyous and captures perfectly the magic of finding The One.

Ms. Rochon also does a terrific job of depicting how modern romance works. Too often I see stories that include behaviors/language that would have been common thirty years ago but are not at all the norm today. That doesn’t happen here. Everything feels very much like a relationship that would take place in the here and now.

Once past a slightly rough start, The Hookup Plan is a wonderful book and a delightful conclusion to the Boyfriend Project series. If you are a fan of smexy contemporary romances at all, I think you will enjoy this one.

The Hookup Plan is the last book in The Boyfriend Project trilogy. It's my favorite book of the trilogy.

London Kelley is a successful pediatric surgeon who hasn't quite figured out how to destress well from work. At her high school reunion she lays eyes on her archnemesis, Drew Sullivan. Drew was always at London's heels during high school for academic accolades, which drove her insane. Taking advice of her girlfriends, she decides Drew would be the best person to hook up with for a night. Little does she know Drew and his company have been hired to work at her hospital to perform an audit, while the hospital board decides if they should be sold. So much for a one night stand and never seeing Drew again.

There is just so much that I loved about this novel. First I loved London as a character. I loved that she doesn't stand down from the things she loves. I saw myself in her with the relationship she has with her father. I was reading this on a trip home so it was giving me some comfort reading her fire on the pages. I love the connection between Drew and London. They felt the most realistic of the couples from the trilogy although let it be known I do love all of the couples in this trilogy. I know Farrah is a Disney fan so it's fun to see the little splash of Disney she puts in the pages of books. She always has something in there and this book is no exception.
If you haven't read any other books in the trilogy you can easily read these books out of order, but because this is the last book in the trilogy everything from the previous books do get wrapped up. It still isn't necessary to read the other book before because Farrah does a good explaining what is going on with the other characters. I personally think it's worth going back and reading the other books if you do start with The Hookup Plan because they're a lot of fun.

I really loved this book and series. This book can be read as a standalone but do yourself a favor and read the whole series. I loved these stories of strong capable women finding there happy ever afters. Farah just has an amazing way with words and tells one heck of story that gives us all the feels and just the right amount of steam!

I really enjoyed this book. I loved London's spunkiness and Drew's heart of gold. This is the third book in the trilogy and my first. I was able to read it as a standalone and I'll definitely be going back to read the first two.

✨ The Hookup Plan is fabulous new romcom from @farrahrochon that releases on Monday! It's Book 3 of the series, but I think it works as a standalone, too. It was a 5⭐ read for me!

👩🏿‍⚕️ London is a self-sufficient pediatric surgeon in Austin and is doing great on her own. She doesn't need a man and has no interest in dating her former high school enemy, Drew. But Drew is back in town and is sexy, single, and rich. He agrees to be her friend with benefits, but wants more.

🩺 My workaholic self relates to London way more than I'd like to admit. There are some great themes of self-care in this book. Drew has worked through a lot of his shit already and is a good role model for London. He encourages her to take better care of her mental and physical health. What more could you want in a partner?London is super snarky and relatable. I loved her character and Drew is my new book boyfriend 💕

🔥 This is my first Farrah Rochon book and I'm in love with her writing style! It's very sweary and very sexy, which is right up my alley. I can't wait to read Samiah and Taylor's stories!

✨ Stay tuned for my Dream Cast on Monday to celebrate Pub Day!

Shareability: romcom lovers, especially if you like second chance romances or the guy falls first trope

Spice: I mean...there are a lot of benefits. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Pairs well with: hot pretzels 🥨 from their date

High school rivals to friends with benefits to so much more.

I honestly loved this story. It’s an easy, fun read, and that’s just what I was in the mood for.

I loved London and Drew, especially London. The Hook Up Plan is the first book I’ve read by this author. I was completely unaware this was a series when I started, but it works well as a standalone, although I do now plan to go back and read the first two books because I want to know so much more about her friends. I loved them, too.

London and Drew were high school enemies, fighting for the top spot in EVERYTHING. Flash forward to their high school reunion and the two reunite and after re-ignighting their dramatics somehow find themselves in bed together. But when Drew shows up at the hospital where she works as a financial consultant London is Livid! Not only did he not tell her, but he can't trust him to be in her work. Can the two of them find a balance and save the hospital? Or will their old ways implode everything?

I think this has been my favorite book in the series! We've got enemies to lovers, second chances, a millionaire romance, all wrapped up in an emotional and heart warming story. Need I say more? I related so hard London and her struggle to find work/life balance, her perfectionist tendencies and the need to make your parents feel proud of you. Drew is a delicious cinnamon roll hero. I mean ooey gooey delight! I also loved the little shout out to my city, Chicago, in the book! I love that we see old characters from the first two books as well. Lastly, the family drama was perfection! It didn't overtake the main romance plot, but added so much to the story.

Thanks to the publisher for the ARC in return for an honest review! This book releases 8/2

A great finale to the Boyfriend Project series!

I'd suspected THE HOOKUP PLAN would be my favorite of the three books by Farrah Rochon, and it was. Pediatric surgeon London Kelley is in the final year of a five-year residency, with lots of offers for her next position -- but does she want to leave Austin/the hospital she's so committed to improving? Being as high-achieving as she is, dating has long remained on the backburner, and now she's got high blood pressure to contend with too. The answer, according to her best friends? A casual hookup. Good thing she's just run into her high school rival Drew, who happens to be gorgeous.

I really appreciate the focus on London's career, as well as the ways in which Drew uses his money for good. I commend Rochon for making this series not just about each of the friends finding love, but determining what it is they want and then accomplishing that.

I had a few issues with this one that prevented me from absolutely loving it, the largest of which is that Drew tells London he's a hedge fund manager, but he's switched careers and now manages a consultancy firm. I couldn't help but feel that a sentence or two was missing, explaining this job switch early on (she later refers to his company as a management consulting firm, and he talks about why he wanted to do this sort of work). There also were some comments that took me out of the story, the worst of which were two mentions that eating a cupcake means more time on the treadmill (I understand that may seem innocuous to some but after years of unlearning diet culture, I hate to see it normalized).

Still, there's so much to like in this great rivals to lovers story.

Thank you to Hachette Audio and Forever for the ARC and ALC.

The Hookup Plan was a really pleasant romance read, well balanced in hard situations for character development and light & fun romance progression. I am always hooked by a strong woman MC and London is not only a pediatric surgeon, she speaks her mind, has strong female friendships, is a great older sister, and goes for what she wants. Absolutely loved her. Drew balances her out well, and watching them reunite after knowing each other in high school was really enjoyable. Marissa Hampton did a wonderful job narrating this book and I really loved listening to it!

Farrah Rochon does an amazing job developing leading ladies that you want to be or be BFFs with and London Kelley is no exception. In this rivals-to-lovers story, London crosses paths with her HS co-valedictorian at their reunion and the sparks fly from there!

I appreciated the layers of this plot, aside from the swoon-worthy and steamy love story, the reader gets to navigate London's career and health, and both Drew & London's complicated family relationships. At times I felt like Drew was a little too good to be true, but I think given the other layers, it made sense!

This is the final in the Boyfriend Project series, so while you totally can enjoy London's story as a standalone, it is nice to see how things wrap up for all three ladies!

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for an advanced copy of this and the opportunity to share my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

“Who would have ever thought I’d find myself falling in love with you?”✨

*thank you NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so fun! I really loved the main character, London, and how well developed she was! The romance is the book was amazing, but I also really enjoyed the relationships London had with her friends, family, dad, and even her job.

I haven’t read many romances that have a MC in the medical field, but I think that might be one of my new fav themes!

Because this book is called the hookup plan, I’m sure you can imagine what the two MCs, London & Drew, were always getting up to. It did seem a little repetitive in that regard, but their chemistry was 👩🏼‍🍳 💋 also, I’m always a big fan of books with dual POV!

Read if you like:
- enemies to lovers 🤺
- spice 🌶
- forced proximity 🛏
- dual POV 👥
- amazing banter 🗣
- strong friend group 🫂
- medicine centered 👩🏼‍⚕️

Rating: ☀️☀️☀️☀️💫/5
