A sweet small town romcom is right! The Buy In is absolutely adorable. There is so much heart in this story. Pat and Lindy are both so loveable. Did I mention, Pat is completely in touch with his emotions? It is a beautiful thing.
The pop culture references are plentiful, they had me giggling all the way through. Don't let anyone tell you a noun is not a verb.
Pat is a guy with a big heart and is searching for his purpose. He regrets many things in his past but that doesn't stop him from fighting to right those wrongs. After his family "Schitt's Creeks a town", he is given a second chance at a life he thought he lost.
Lindy is a single guardian to her niece, Jo. She has been an amazing caregiver for the last 5 years. There are a lot of difficulties in her life and when things start to change she becomes a little lost. Will she accept the help that is being offered, even if she doesn't believe she needs it?
If you are looking for a story that will leave you with a full heart and a lot of quotable lines, read The Buy In!
Lindy has had custody of her niece Jo for the past 5 years, and has made a habit of putting others’ needs ahead of hers, especially since, in Lindy’s experience, everyone in her life seems to leave. Well, imagine her surprise when her college boyfriend, who not only left but broke her heart in the process, shows up in her small town, claiming his father is the town’s new owner!
I love reading Emma St. Clair’s books, and I fell in love with the Grahams after reading “Falling For Your Best Friend” and am absolutely PUMPED that they have their own series now! The MCs in this book are sweet, well thought out, and face REAL problems! I always appreciate a neurodivergent character, and Pat’s ADHD is entirely relatable and realistic. Throughout the course of the book, both Lindy and Pat have to figure out many things, not just about themselves, but about each other and about the relationship. This was a swoony (I use that word a lot but IT’S TRUE), adorable, easy read. I didn’t need another book boyfriend, but after reading this book, Patrick Graham DEFINITELY joins that list.
Thanks to NetGalley and the author for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
The Buy-In is a fun, romance comedy that will keep you laughing and swooning at every page. Almost instantly I was captured into this story. The characters are lovable and will make you laugh out loud in a public setting. The amount of times I giggled or teared up from general sweetness was WAY too many. Absolutely loved this book! 4.5 Stars!!! I need the next one VERY soon!
I read this book all night! It was such a fun read for me and a nice break from all the dark romance I had been reading. I absolutely loved it and look forward to reading more from this author. These characters have been stuck in my head I even dreamt about it. Thank you so much for this amazing story.
A sizzling sweet read based in small town Texas. This fictional town, and these fictional characters, were all so much fun to hang out with. Pat was swoonable, Lindy wo.derful.
This is the first Emma St. Clair book I’ve read and I loved it.
Its an easy, fun read.
There’s a ton of fun banter throughout the book. And a lot of TV and movie references.
It’s a dual point of view, which I love.
Also the main character is in touch with his emotions and even cries. A dream.
I’ll definitely be reading more Emma St. Clair books in the future.
Pat is utterly shocked when his father tells him that he bought a small town an hour's drive away from their home in Austin, Texas. He is even more surprised when he learns the town is Sheet Cake, the same small town that the love of his life, Lindy, is from. Pat screwed up their relationship badly when he was drafted to the NFL, and he hasn't had a serious relationship since.
Meanwhile, Lindy is in an awful situation. Her sister abandoned her newborn five years ago with no contact. Now her sister has suddenly turned up and sued for custody.
I love second chance romance stories because they always feel quite hopeful. I enjoy the possibility of fixing past mistakes, and I love how the relationship history can add to the depth of the story. In this book, I really loved both Pat and Lindy.
The small town features the Neighborly app as a place where the local residents share gossip. Excerpted threads from the app are included between the chapters, and they are hilarious. The town also has a Ladies Literary and Libations Society that meets at the library after hours; I want to join. This book truly is a rom-com, with all the fun that implies.
I definitely recommend you read Harper's story from the Love Cliches series first (Falling for Your Best Friend) if you get the chance. It introduces her father and brothers in a way that brought great context to the start of this book.
Thank you to Emma St. Clair for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own.
