I read this book because I find life rather challenging when you are too sensitive and take many things personally. This book's affirmations were comforting and helpful.
This book is such a great follow-up for those who have read The Empath’s Survival Guide. I plan on taking the awareness I gained from that book and furthering it by using these affirmations and journaling prompts to continue to take care of myself as an Empath and figure out how to best manage situations.
This book immediately caught me interest with affirmations that seemed like just the sort of thing I need to hear. I would use this in a journal format, and will purchase when it is released. Highly recommended if you feel you are an Empath and could use a gentle voice reminding you to center and to take care of yourself as well as you take after others. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
As an Empath and HSP, I love Dr. Orloff's work. I own many of her books including the Empath's Empowerment Journal. Her work has helped me so much over the years. I think many empaths can relate to this ... when I read her books I feel as if though she knows me intimately, like a best friend, yet I've never met her. I was thrilled to receive a copy of her new journal. It is filled with affirmations that are specific to Empaths around treasuring yourself, vitality, wellness, balancing emotions, building healthy relationships, life purpose, intuition, and finding sanctuary. What I really appreciate is that she gives practical tips on how to incorporate this journal into your daily life. Each affirmation includes prompts to help you identify what limiting beliefs you have around the affirmation as well as ample space to journal about this. I think this journal is a very practical tool to help Empaths make positive, lasting changes in their lives. It is a tool I'll definitely be using daily. I look forward to purchasing a print edition of this book.
I am incredibly grateful to have received an uncorrected proof from NetGalley in return for my honest review. Thank you to Dr. Orloff and her publisher for this wonderful opportunity.
I adore the concept of this journal, I am so glad I was able to take a peek and try it out!! The journal contains a little explanation of how affirmations work and how to make the most of them and then offers a weekly affirmation and some pages with space for guided journaling. I used these affirmations and journal prompts for several weeks and I have to say I loved it. I found some of the affirmations resonated less for me than others, but I think that just means there are some in here for everyone!
Because this was a digital copy, I would write the weekly affirmation on my kitchen whiteboard where I could read it aloud to myself several times a day, and I used the prompts to do a little journaling every week. The best part of this is that it had me making a habit of writing in my journal again, but it also gave me some lovely little breakthroughs and I found my overall spirits were lifted. Loved this little book, I know it will bring so much lovely peace to so many people!
Thanks Netgalley for the #advancereadercopy. As an empath, I really love the affirmations in this book. Moods are contagious for everyone, particularly with challenges of the last 2 years. I recommend this to anyone who needs help centering themselves after serving others. #AffirmationsforEmpaths #NetGalley
When I saw Affirmations for Empaths I was very intrigued. I have always considered myself to be very empathetic and I really like guided journals. I have a “Question a Day” journal but have been wanting something more than a prompt for just a three lined answer. This seemed to be the perfect fit for a new journaling practice.
However, I was sadly let down. I know this is marketed as a guided journal so maybe my expectations were too high for the content, but I have written homework assignments that were more words than this. I would have thought an introduction more than 500 words was warranted for a publishing but apparently not. It just felt like no effort was put into this at all.
The introduction does not even define what an empath is. You may think it self explanatory but in my research elsewhere there is much to what is considered an empath that this book does nothing to clarify. There are a few lines about how positive affirmations can be and a general outline for how to use the journal but that is it.
Now I still gave it a chance and journaled one affirmation per week as it is intended for a couple of weeks. But I was not able to journal a whole week on the short sentence provided. Even the journal prompting questions are the same three questions for each affirmation. I’ve never read something so lazy!
The affirmations themselves are nice, but the first one is about being a “warrior empath”. What is a warrior empath?! It really would have been nice to have some more background information and content to go along with the journal prompt to have something to connect to while journaling. I would not be happy if I paid money for this but since I didn’t I’ll settle for one star and move on.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sounds True for an ARC of this book.
I am a psychotherapist and will definitely use and recommend this book to my clients. Well written and thought provoking.
I received an ebook version via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is a lovely little journal of affirmations concerning empaths. I like the suggestion to choose one affirmation per week that you focus on daily during that week. Personally, I would use the affirmations as an inspiration to create my own simplified version. I wish there were a space in the layout to include my daily thoughts and experiences for each day of the week but there is definitely space to do that without being prompted. I appreciate the Quick reference guide provided to be able find an affirmation efficiently.
Affirmations for Empaths is a self-help book by Judith Orloff. This book offers a year’s worth of affirmations and serves as a personal journal. Affirmations for Empaths is made up of 8 parts. Some parts include treasuring yourself, nurturing vitality, creating wellness, and more.
In each part, Orloff shares an affirmation followed by 3 questions. Orloff leaves an entire page for the reader to answer what this affirmation means to them and how their life can benefit from it. My only critique about this book is that the same 3 questions appeared for the entirety of this book, which is 248 pages. Since this book is in 8 parts, I had hoped the questions would change according to the topic. For example, questions relating to balancing emotions, building healthy relationships, discovering purpose and work, etc. Because of this, I didn’t feel like I could connect to it on a deeper level. Also, the colors in this book were grey and muddled, but I believe that may have been an issue with the eARC.
If you’re looking for a short and simple self-help book, Affirmations for Empaths may be for you. It serves as a great reminder that everything is energy and you can redirect it towards building better habits. Thank you to NetGalley and Sounds True for a copy of this eARC in exchange for my honest review.
I love the art in all of these pages. Journaling and art i feel just go together. I love the space to express exactly what im feeling. Easy to follow along with.
This work opened my eyes and made me think - and feel. It is a wonderful addition to the literature nowadays on how we feel, how we relate and how we express ourselves.
I liked the premise of the book. I believe that it is beneficial and would be helpful for those that use it. I liked the prompts and I was able to engage in the book.
I have worked with affirmations for many years, but I have never specifically focused on affirmations for the empathic side of myself. I found the authors newest book enlightening, engaging, and nurturing to my spirit. There are many suggestions at the beginning for ways to use affirmations that I have never thought of, and the affirmations themselves spoke to my life‘s journey and I will be using many of them going forward.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
beautiful book, just what you need, these journaling prompts can help and guide you through life.
gorgeous illustrations on the pages! really think a lot of people will use this!
This book just is not the right fit for me. I think the premise is good. I think giving readers for this topic and book room to write and express is a wonderful idea. But I wish there was more substance (ie advice, information) in the sections too to arm the reader with knowledge in addition to giving them room to express.
A beautiful look though how to utilize your inner light in life and how to make your life brighter. Pun intended. Journal prompts to guide you through the seasons. I felt like this book SPOKE to me. I always felt I was an empath. This book validated and walked me through how to get though it. Highly recommend. Especially loved the reflection to true life to humanize my feelings and relate. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was amazing. Exactly what I needed but didn’t know I needed. I absolutely loved working through this book, reflecting and journaling. I loved the book online format because I was able to screenshot some of the mantras that I resonated with the most and make them my phone screen! The mantras hit home for sure, and while a bit long for me to memorize, reading them made me feel more at ease. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a heavy feeler or has ever been called “too emotional”. Working through this book will help you realize that your emotions are always valid and that your mind is important to protect.
Thank you, Sounds True, for the advance reading copy.
I simply adore this journal and I do feel this journal would help a great deal in being mindful most days if we utilise it to the most.
Highlights:
Short yet ample journalling pages with prompts and subtle art.
Eight main sections/parts which I feel is the most about the affirmations we need. I do feel they are basic.
I adore the minimal art/illustrations. And yes, you will be amazed at how detailed and minimum this journal is.
Just go for it.
