Jenn McKinlay is a superb author and I really want to love this novella. Overall, the story was just okay but didn’t feel very original and that’s what caused a lack of engagement on my end. I was also not a fan of the narrator’s attempt at male voices, which also didn’t help with the rating. While there were moments that were cute, I think there was opportunity for more originality.

3.5-4 Stars
A really quick, but delightful Valentines read for anyone who is a fan of Jane Austen and/or The Prince and Me.
Because this is a novella, the pacing is quick, but it never felt rushed. Our characters have just enough time to have backstory without it feeling heavy or like there were gaps missing and because of this, you get lost in the story. The conflict is a bit meh, but it works because of how fast the story moves and the ending is highly satisfying.

This book was way too short and rushed. It definitely could have been fleshed it and a better read. But for what it was it was cute and fast.

*Le Sigh*
This sweet novella made me smile all day. A perfect blend of Jane Austen-isms and every Royal insta-love Hallmark movie you have ever seen. It’s absolute perfection! Molly is a curvy, American blue-stocking who is totally relatable, has a perfectly lovable bestie, and is the epitome of every woman’s dreams when she is wooed and ultimately loved by a viscount in disguise. Al is our Mr. Darcy- minus the brooding. He’s really much more a Mr. Bingley, but I digress. The story pacing was quick, and at times felt rushed, but I was hooked with their chemistry and I was absolutely satisfied with the ending. I wish with my whole heart that this was twice the length. I would have loved for much more, but I will settle for the Netflix movie version. (Putting positive wishes into the world)
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC, in exchange for my unbiased opinion. I ended up buying it tonight and plan on rereading soon!

This book was entirely too short. I really enjoyed the story however there could have been more substance to the plot and the characters needed more development.

Royal Valentine is a cute short and sweet romance that involves a handsome prince charming. I would've loved for the story to be a bit more longer towards the middle for more development. Overall, if you're looking for a light and fluffy read this book is for you.
Thank you to the Publisher and Netgalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’ll give it this: it’s short. And the premise is cute (because what bookworm wouldn’t want a to work with antique books and win a Darcy-esque guy of their own?), but that’s about where the appeal ends for me.
Royal Valentine is basically if someone said: “Let’s do Netflix’s A Christmas Prince, but make it Valentine’s Day.” It’s cliché to the point of being tedious, which is saying something for a three-hour audiobook. The narration was awkward and stilted, and I probably would have given up listening if it were any longer than three hours.
A salient and careless inconsistency I noticed: in the book description on NetGalley and on Goodreads, it says that Molly meets a “British professor” hiding out in her office during the gala; however, in the book he says he’s a doctoral candidate. This probably wouldn’t be a major issue in and of itself, but his assumed status as a student is a major plot point for the couple — Molly doesn’t even tell her best friend about this guy because he’s only a doctoral student and they’re supposed to be “aiming high” in their pursuit of men.
Royal Valentine is a cute and fluffy book that you can knock off in a few hours if you need something light and mindless, but I wouldn’t recommend it for someone looking for a more substantial romantic read.

Sweet and short romance that fulfills that princess dream. You felt like you knew the main characters even though it was a novella and were rooting for them.

A short sweet romance, it need a little more story to make it really good.
I all a easy cute romance.

The narrator did a god job voicing

It was a cute story. I wish there had been a bit more balance in how much time was spent on the sections of their story. I wanted more from the front end to make me really care about the second half.

"I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."
I listened to the audio version and it was really well done. It was a great short valentine story. It was predictable, but still sweet.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the advanced audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This was absolutely adorable and I loved every minute of this short, but sweet story. Molly & Al meet at a fundraiser, she shows him New York, they fall in love and spend a blissful few months together, then Al disappears. Her heart is broken. Molly is asked to go on a trip of a lifetime to Bath for work, only to find out that Al is not Al and instead is an Earl that goes by Jamie and that he's her benefactor. Miscommunication ensues and is the only flaw to the story - Molly hates liars, Jamie forgets what texting is, etc. Otherwise, this is perfect little Valentine's Day tale of two people and their love for books, Jane Austen and each other.

This book legit zipped through me. Or I zipped through it? I started it and finished it so fast that I can barely tell you how long it was.
It was very cute. There isn't really anything substantial or "wow"-ing, but it tugged on the right strings and made you love the story.

This was a cute quick read/listen! There was a few times i was thinking, ok time to forgive him! All and all a cute afternoon read!

Fun, sweet, novella, NYC, books, period costumes.
This was a great read/listen. It was fun and sweet and managed to squish costume balls, NYC magic and European nobility all into a heartfelt romance. It was a bit quick in some places but that’s just the nature of a novella I suppose. All in all, this was a sweet, quick heartwarming read.
Shout out to the narrator Sara Young, she did a fantastic job.
Special thank you to #NetGalley, #JennMcKinlay and #DreamscapeMedia for sharing this digital copy for my honest thoughts on #RoyalValentine also, thank you narrator #SaraYoung great job.

This was a cute little romance. I enjoyed the story; however, it felt a little rushed for me. It skipped over a huge chunk of them falling in love, which I didn’t like. I would have enjoyed seeing more scenes of them falling in love, so I could really fall in love with their relationship. I did really like the plot, it was enjoyable. My only problem was that it felt too rushed and I didn’t have the time to really fall in love with their relationship and the characters.

A short, sweet cute royal romance that works well as a palate cleanser. I think it could of worked as a longer book as a lot of plot points were just glossed over. I did enjoy the narration and the birtush accent added to the atmosphere.

Royal Valentine was a cute novella is you like instalove. I enjoyed Molly's book loving nature and could related to her geeking out over Jane Austen novels. Would love to read about her friend Bri's romance with Tristan. Overall enjoyed this sweet story of instalove.

I DONT KNOW WHAT IT WAS.
I DNFed immediately. Okay, I gave it at least 3 chapters. But something about it just wasn't interesting to me whatsoever. I didn't like the characters and felt like it just was missing something. Sorry!

If your looking for a quick, cute read this is a great choice. I listened to the audio for this one and the narrator did a wonderful job. It’s a quick read/listen. The story follows Molly who is registrar for a museum and her adventure on finding love.
