This is the second book I’ve read of Joy’s and I really need to pick up a third. I love her writing style.
I loved the thrill of the story, though it made me upset to watch elyse and her son do all these rotten things to this family.
It was hard to read at times, just because of how awful it was.
I like how I kept guessing what was going to happen next, and it kept me on my toes.
I will definitely be recommending this book to others !

Wow. What a book. So much of our world is based on trust. We trust people to stop on a red light. We trust people to take turns when waiting at the store. We trust our housekeepers. But should we? That’s the question. This book had me hooked from the first page. I was on a tropical cruise and I couldn’t stop reading it. It’s a great beach read. I highly recommend.
Thanks Netgalley for the ARC. The opinions expressed are my own..

This book was slow at certain times but did get better and kept me on the edge of my seat. So glad I kept reading. Loved the mystery and suspense.

This book was really good and kept me on my toes the entire time! It hooked me from the first chapter. The only thing was that it was a little slow at some points.

The phrase “If it seems to good to be true then it probably is” came to mind while reading The Housekeeper by Joy Fielding. Or, in this case, “If SHE seems to good to be true, then she probably is”. At least, that is what Jodi soon comes to realize after her father agrees to hire Elyse, who seems like the perfect housekeeper who can help keep up with the house and taking care of Jodi’s bedridden mother.

When Jodi starts noticing her mother’s things in Elyse’s room, and on her person, she realizes Elyse is not as perfect as she makes herself out to be. The change in her father’s demeanor, as well as the change in relationship between him and Elyse, gives Jodi even more concern, especially after her mother’s death.

I enjoyed this latest thriller from Joy Fielding and had a hard time putting it down so I could get to sleep. I woke up thinking about it, ready to start reading again.

Thank you Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Ballantine Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

This was more like 4-1/2 stars for me and the only reason why it wasn’t 5 stars is that it took me a little while to not want to put it down. I love Joy Fielding’s writing and she does a great job of using foreshadowing in this book to pique the reader’s interest. Jodi Bishop is a real estate agent living in Toronto with her husband and two children. Her mother has been rapidly declining with Parkinson’s disease and her father is finding it increasingly more difficult to take care of her. She decides to hire a housekeeper to help with her mother, clean the house, and prepare meals for her parents. Unfortunately, she hires Elyse - the housekeeper from hell. At first, Elyse seems wonderful, but once gets comfortable in the house and with Jodi’s father, her evil side comes out. Thanks to #netgalley #ballantinebooks and #joyfielding for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This was my 4th Joy Fielding book and I can’t wait for her next one!

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book. I absolutely loved it . At first Elyse seems like the perfect housekeeper. She cooks , cleans and even watches the kids sometimes. Soon however sisters , Tracy and Jodi begin to notice that she nothing is as it seems . Between jodi's husbands business trips and her meeting with a potential client , and things at her parents house things begin to spiral out of control. I recommend this book highly to anyone looking for their next favorite thriller

Joy Fielding has written a twisted and unexpected ending in The Housekeeper. This book keeps you engrossed in the entire story.

I could not get enough of the drama. It’s a story you’ve probably heard a million times before but it was so good. I sat up into the wee hours of the morning trying to finish it because it was so good. The plot twists shocked me.

Jodi Bishop hires a live-in housekeeper to look after her elderly mother who had Parkinson’s disease and her father.Enter Elyse. She is perfect. She’d give Mrs. Doubtfire a run for her money.

Jodi is grateful is grateful for the help so she can devote more time to her real estate job as well as her writer husband and children. Even her hard to please father warmed up to and seems very fond of Elyse.

What do they say about things that seem to be too good to be true? They usually are. Suddenly Jodi sees Elyse wearing her mother’s clothes and jewelry. Pretty soon she is shut out completely having no contact with her family. As her mother’s condition declines Jodi becomes more anxious. Who is this women she let into her parents home?

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

This book was deliciously suspenseful, and I devoured page after page. I literally felt ill at some parts of the plot with some reprehensible, evil characters. Others were very aggravating and their stupidity made my blood boil! This psychological thriller really hit the spot and satiated my need for drama and intrigue. Bravo! Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for the advanced copy of this cringey, thrilling book!

I enjoyed this, much as I do all of Joy Fielding's books. I felt a bit more like I knew where this was going, than I did some of her other books. And, it home since my mom is elderly and vulnerable to scams.

I thought it was well written, and well thought out.

" . . . what happened had all the elements of a good mystery novel : the creaky old house, the aging invalid and the duplicitous housekeeper assigned to her care, the subtle clues, the red herrings, the dead body at the foot of the stairs."

This was so freaking awesome! I was hooked from the first page and could not put it down until the end. The characters are well developed and relatable. Believable, especially in Elyse's case. I sort of knew what kind of con was taking place but I was absolutely dying to find out how it would unfold and eventually end. Addictive, fast-paced, well written, invoking, entertaining, and twisted. So, Freaking. Good.

I was given this book by NetGalley for an honest review - I have read every book Joy Fielding has written and she never disappoints.
Once again she writes a winner. Jodi and Tracy's parents are aging so Jodi begins looking for a housekeeper for them. Enter Elyse who is so perfect -how could you not hire her? But things begin to change, their mother falls down or was she pushed? Clothing and jewlery appear in the housekeeper's room. Daddy begins to appear drugged. Have they hired a golddigger for a housekeeper What can they do to protect their dad? And --- can they do it in time?

The Housekeeper is a fast paced story of deceit , infidelity, and suspicious deaths. The characters are believable and the story unfolds at a fast pace.. I couldn’t put this book down until I finished it.

This story is very slow moving. The first 75% is just information and getting to know the characters. The last 25% is where it actually starts to get interesting but not really interesting enough to keep my attention because it is already very predictable as to what’s happening.

I have read every one of Joy's books and I think this one is my favorite! The characters were so well written! Domestic thrillers are my absolute favorites!! I can't wait until her next book! #netgalley #joyfielding #thehousekeeper

I usually love books by Joy Fielding and count on them as good suspense/thriller reads.

I felt like her latest book "The Housekeeper" was fairly predictable. Elyse is hired to be the caregiver for Jodi and Tracy's mom, living in the house along with her father Vic. Elyse is in it for the long con.

I didn't feel like there was anything particularly surprising, infidelity abounds and Elyse is pulling the strings.

Really good domestic thriller. Page turning read. Mostly, in my opinion, unlikeable, yet absorbing characters. Two sisters, Jodi, the younger sister of two, is quite frustratingly obtuse. The older sister Tracy, snarky yet engaging. Their father is a nasty guy albeit wealthy. Wait until you meet “the housekeeper!” Twists and turns and vexing scenarios abound. I enjoyed it and found myself tethered to my chair until I finished it. Thank you NetGalley and Ballantine Books for the opportunity to read and review this ARC. @fieldingjoy, @netgalley @ballantinebooks. #TheHousekeeper #Netgalley.

Thank you NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine. and the author for this fantastic read - my opinion is my own!

It has been YEARS since I have picked up a Joy Fielding book (think 90's) and I have always enjoyed the authors writing, so I wanted to see how much she has evolved since I last read anything from her. Well, she is just as twisty and amazing as I remember and I LOVE IT!

No need to regurgitate the blurb since anyone can read that but I will say that if you want a twisty, gasp inducing story this is it. Side note the people in this book are all awful awful people but it works! They are so toxic that often I wanted to punch something. Anyway this book has renewed my love for the author and I am going to go check out her other stuff now!

Great solid read!

I had deja vu reading The Housekeeper by Joy Fielding. The plot of THE YOUNGER WIFE who takes over an older husband and attempts to alienate him from his children, house and money is very similar to a book that just came out. It was a bit disappointing as I usually enjoy Fielding's books.
