I am still tired after staying up nearly all night reading The Housekeeper. I've been a fan of Joy Fielding for years, and this one drew me in from the first page. Caring for an aging parent is not easy, and as Jodi Bishop tries to do the right thing by hiring someone who seems perfect, it becomes evident that when something seems too good to be true, it is. At the end, the author stated that she hadn't planned to come out with another book so quickly, but during the pandemic, this one came to her mind. I'm so glad that it did. I highly recommend this one (actually any of her books) Thank you to NetGalley, the author and Random House Publishing/Ballentine for an e-ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for the copy of The Housekeeper by Joy Fielding. I have been reading Ms. Fielding’s books for many years, and this is right up there with her best. The story has been done before, but the deft writing added in some extra twists. The characters were not very likable or sympathetic, but they were fleshed out well enough that I got to know them and was able to anticipate some of their reactions.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to this author you would like this book.

This was an enjoyable page-turner about a woman who decides to hire a housekeeper for her parents. Her mother is suffering from Parkinson's and her very difficult father is struggling to take care of her. She thinks she's found the perfect woman for the job when things start to go wrong and suddenly her whole life is turned upside down. Good plot and a few good twists. Another Joy Fielding classic.

Thanks to NetGalley , the publisher, and Joy Fielding for writing this mystery that I had to read in a day. Too good to be true, as the daughters hired a housekeeper to help their dad with their mother who has Parkinson’s. Too many incidents happen that lead to mistrust the perfect housekeeper. A page turner even on a sunny day. Super fun mysterious read!

This was a quick little domestic suspense book that I read on an airplane. It had a couple of interesting twists that compelled me to keep reading even though it wasn't particularly well written (dialogue & predictable characters). But if you're looking to read a light piece of fluff while you're on vacation this fits the bill.

Do you even need a review? This is Joy Fielding and she rocks!! Loved this story as it could be any number of families dealing with this kind of subject. Please read it and share with friends. Just because people age and are older doesn't mean they can't feel happy love when they are 70 or 80 years old. I highly recommend reading and you will want to read more as you get to the end!

The Housekeeper by Joy Fielding What a treat, do believe this is my new favorite Joy Fielding novel. The ending was a surprise that I didn't see coming. Elyse was written spot on as a manipulative, conniving con (wo)man. Liked that Tracey was able to express love and sympathy to Jodi toward the end. An engaging domestic thriller.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

3.5*
"In the end, I have only myself to blame. I'm the one who let her in."

In this domestic suspense, a family's nightmare reveals a housekeeper/caretaker taking charge of an elderly couple's fate. Jodi is successful in real estate and looks to find help for her parents when her mother's life debilitates due to Parkinson. Her father is in his 70's, and very active. He comes across as a controlling grump. He finds Elyse taking over the reins and their life.

Jodi's mother, Audrey, deteriorates quickly under Elyse's care, given cause for Jodi to investigate. She finds Elyse wearing her mother's belongings and her father acting strangely. Jodi has her own problems brewing at home with her husband. He is a writer and resents her success.

This book reminds me of the Netflix movie "I Care a Lot." A court appointed guardian sets out to defraud older clients, then contains them in a nursing home. There are many scams like this that target our vulnerable elderly. It makes me angry and I have some mixed feelings about their care.
It played out predictable, but I can't say I didn't enjoy it. I kept reading for a surprise and to see what stunt this caretaker was going to pull.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group-Ballatine for this title in exchange for my honest review.

I am a huge Joy Fielding fan and was surprised to see she had written another book so soon after publishing Cul-de-Sac (which I also loved). I literally could not put down this book, She is the master of the the family thriller. Totally didn't see the twist coming in the middle of the story and gasped out loud when revealed. This is probably one of my favorite Fielding books. I cannot wait to recommend this book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

Great story by Joy Fielding. Lots of twists and turns I wasn't expecting, especially concerning her son Andrew.. It was great that Tracy was able to write her novel, even though it was a history of what her and her sister experienced at the hands of the housekeeper. Very enjoyable novel!
