Love these books, everytime one pops up it's an absolute must read! An absolute.page turner!
Thanks for the ARC!
I have read all the books in the Rizzoli and Isles series and was so excited to see a new installment in the series after several years of no new books in the series. I loved jumping back into the world and seeing what the characters have been up to. This was a well written mystery that kept me at the edge of my seat.
I love the Rizzoli & Isles series and was THRILLED to read, and review, the latest book! Listen To Me has the usual "murder to solve" , combined with the great personalities of Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles, but this time Angela Rizzoli, Jane's mother, plays a major part in the story, which really has two plots. Rizzoli is busy trying to solve the murder of a well-liked nurse which seems to be connected to a local teenager who was the victim of a hit-and-run accident. The latest tale takes us from Boston, north to Coastal Maine to find how these two crimes are, in fact, connected. Meanwhile, Angela Rizzoli, is busy enjoying her new-found freedom as a divorcee, while monitoring EVERY event, and person, in her little neighborhood in Revere. When the new couple moves in across the street, Angela seems to spend every waking moment trying to "peer into" what is going on in their house. and tries to robe Jane into her scheme. Some additional "colorful drama" from the older neighbors just added to the "comical side" of the Rizzoli family. I loved seeing more of Angela! She is the stereotypical Italian mother from Boston and I hope she will play a larger role in future novels. Thanks to NetGalley for the preview!
Listen to Me is the newest book from Tess Gerritsen, one of my favorite authors. I particularly love the Rizzoli and Isles series, and I have listened to them on audio and also read the book. I have been so eager for a new book in the series to come out since the last, which it seemed so long ago. Listen to me is the 13th book in the Rizzoli and Isles series, and it is just as good as the first. This book is one that grabbed me from the very first page and never let go.
Listen to me is told from various POV and at the first we learn about a girl who disappears. This is becoming a secondary story, at the moment, to the recent murder Rizzoli and Isles are investigating. A nurse has recently been found in her home killed, by what appears to be an intruder, and it is especially brutal. As we go through each chapter, we, as expected, hear from Jane and Maura, but we also hear from Angela. Angela gives a fresh take on what she is thinking and how she sees her suburban neighborhood. She also is "on a case" with a new family who have moved in across the street. The Greens are new and very mysterious. They do not socialize with the people who live on the street and make Angela want to think they are up to no good. When a teenager on the street disappears, she feels it is more than a teenage runaway like the police say; Angela gets Jane to look into it.
This book has several moving parts, but it does not feel complicated. I actually loved all the different POVs and various characters and mysteries. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of crime, thrillers, or mysteries. Just know that it is graphic. I cannot wait to read it on audio as well.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I have long been a fan of the Rizzoli and Isles series by Tess Gerritsen. I loved the show and was so excited to see a new book was written.
In this installment, there is a murder than seems to be completely random and without any motive. As Maura and Jane dig deeper though they realize that the victim, Sofia Suarez, had things in her past that may have led to her murder. There is also the victim of a hit-and-run incident that Sofia helps to take care of. Are the two events connected? If so, what role does Sofia play in both incidents.
Additionally, Angela Rizzoli, the self-appointed neighborhood watch is concerned about events happening in her neighborhood. There are new neighbors that are very anti=social and there is a strange van in the neighborhood that seems to be investigating her neighbors. Do these people have anything to do with the events that have gotten Maura’s and Jane’s attention?
This book had an unusual format from the rest of the series. The chapters alternated by who was telling the story. This took a little getting used to as I am so used to it mainly being from Jane’s point of view.
Even with the format change, Ms. Gerritsen still surprised me with the ending. I was convinced I had all of the storylines figured out but realized at the end that I did exactly what she wanted me to do. I got caught up in the story and didn’t pay attention to the clues!
I will always read an addition to this series. I loved catching up with all of the characters and seeing how everyone worked together to solve yet another interesting crime. The banter between Angela and Jane is always one of my favorite parts of these stories and this one did not disappoint. I also love the relationship between Jane and Maura. They work so well together and help each other think in ways that helps them solve the crime.
Thank you to NetGalley, Random House, and Tess Gerritsen for the copy of this book in exchange for a review. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
This was my first Rizzoli and Isles novel by Tess Gerritsen. I know she has written many, but have nothing to compare this one to, and I LOVED it. Very easy reading, kept my interest from the beginning, flows along perfectly for a nice week-end read. Thank you NetGalley for this ebook to review. I will definitely read some of her earlier books now.
YAY! A new Rizzoli and Isles novel and it is a good one! Jane Rizzoli is working on a case about a local nurse who was murdered in her home. She was well liked by her neighbors and hospital staff so it seemed like a senseless act done by a random stranger. Meanwhile, Jane's mother is involved in a "case" of her own. She suspects the new neighbors are up to no good because she never sees them and their house is dark at night. Jane passes it off as her mom being the nosy neighbor. After all, Angela does obsess about all her neighbors including one couple's dauggter who has run away from home (again)
Jane's case with the murdered nurse is consuming most of her time and she and Maura, the medical examiner, discuss the case. In order to figure out what happened . We. also discover Maura's avocation is. playing the piano with the orchestra whose members are employees of tte hospital. Very cool detail for me because I am a musician and one of my gigs was playing piano with an orchestra. It gave me an extra connect with Maura who always seems a little cold and standoffish to me. I guess examining dead bodies as a full time job would make you a little detached from people. It was a nice touch I really liked. In addition to all this activity surrounding Jane, one of the doctors mentioned a man seemed to be stalking his daughter.
Sound complicated? Well it is. This is why the book is so good. Ms Gerritsen is a master of the plot twist and she wraps up Jane's case in an amazing way that I didn't see coming. Amgela's case is wonderful comic relief with its own kind of exciting finish.. This book is going to be the hit of the summer.
Thank you to Random House Publishing Group and Ballentine Books for my free copy of Listen To Me to freely give my honest opinion of the book.
When it comes to series there has to be interesting, believable characters to make me continue or a really good plot. Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli & Isles series has all that. Hence my request for the ARC (thank you NetGalley and Random House). This didn't disappoint, enjoyed the book. As always I hated to put it down.
Another great novel by my favorite author! Rizzoli and Isles are in top form in this mystery involving a murder and its connection with a previous hit and run. On top of this, Jane's mother finds herself enmeshed in neighborhood drama turned dangerous. I could not put this book down and read it in one sitting!
There is no better master author than Tess Gerritsen and this book is no exception. A wonderful edition to the series and I can’t wait for more.
Reads like a tv episode. This entry in the series is more about Jane's mother, Angela, and her nosy neighborly ways. Not much about Maura. The two mysteries involved are predictable but still enjoyable to read.I wish there had been more development of the main characters. Still a good series although this wasn't my favorite.
Copy provided by the publisher and NetGalley
Gerritsen never misses and this book is a home run. I loved it. She never disappoints can’t wait for her next book
The story is easy to read. The main characters seem real, their lives are ordinary enough so you can relate to them and this fact makes them believable, the story is well developed. The plot is interesting and made me turn the pages looking for answers
Secondary characters are interesting but sometimes I felt that the author paid too much attention to Jane's mother and the stories around her experiences.
All in all it was an interesting read and enjoyable
I’ve loved the R&I books for years and this was a fantastic continuation! They are a dynamic duo of power women and I always love seeing what they are up to. I’ll keep reading them if Tess will keep writing them!
This author and this series are an automatic go-to for me. I have read all of the books in the Rizzoli and Isles series, and the latest book is terrific. This can be read as a stand alone, but it is worth reading previous books for backstories. Recommended!
Rizzoli and Isles are at it again and Jane's mother, Angela is neck deep in it too.
Jane and Frost are working a case of a young nurse who was killed in her own home. This case is keeping them running in circles trying to find a thread to pull it together. Nothing makes sense as to why.
Angela is taking neighborhood watch to a whole new level as new people move in across the street from her, who are they and why are their windows always covered, why are they being watched by someone other then her? Angela Rizzoli will not let up and tries using her influence with the local police department, she's about to step into trouble.
The suspense in Listen To Me does not disappoint. The twists are thrilling.
Fantastic read

I received access via Netgalley, but my opinion is all my own.
I have not read this series before, but enjoyed the TV series. This book was very compelling and well written. I could have done without the nod to covid that everything seems to require nowadays, but at least it wasn't throughout the novel. It kept me wondering and guessing throughout and the final twists I hadn't seen coming so overall a good read.
Jane Rizzoli & Maura Isles are back in another twisty murder mystery.
The primary storyline was interesting, but it felt like it was rushed/barely covered in lieu of the suspicious happenings and family dramas taking place in the Boston suburb where Angela Rizzoli, Jane's mother, has lived for years. I'm still trying to parse out what the purpose of emphasizing those stories was. I know that Angela's amateur sleuthing efforts led Jane's ultimate epiphany but it didn't do much to evolve either character nor the mother-daughter relationship. While it was entertaining, it felt like filler. In fact, the whole book felt like it was thrown together a bit haphazardly. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it overall, but the execution left something to be desired.
Instead of yet another Rizzoli & Isles story, Jane’s mother takes the role of protagonist. This time the book’s theme is families and what we’ll do to take care of each other. Every family in the book is dealing with their private problems, and they reveal themselves in unexpected complications.
As usual the murderers and other bad guys are not who they seem, and the good guys are not as good as they pretend to be. Even Mara reveals an unexpected side of herself to an unsuspecting public...
Note for Ms. Quinlan and NetGalley: This is my last review of a Tess Gerritsen book. I'm moving on to new authors and leaving behind the old familiar classics.
These are always fun. This one centers mostly around Angela and her inability to keep her nose out of other people's business. She gets frustrated that no one is taking her seriously. Of course, there is the regular murder mystery centered around Jane also happening, so it's slightly more complex than other books in this genre. By the thirteenth book, you'd expect these to become boring, but I feel like these are still going strong even though the author seems to be concentrating on other things for the most part.
