Rizzoli and Ives are back! FINALLY! I feel like I've been waiting for ages for this one.

But you know what? I had a hard time with this one. It felt more "cozy mystery" and less "Rizzoli and Ives". If that's your thing, great. But it's not what I was expecting and it had a hard time holding my interest. Maybe it was the addition of Jane's mom Angela's perspective that threw me off. I wanted to love this. I really did. But it was more of a warm "like", possibly for nostalgia's sake more than the book itself.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This was a really delightful easy read that distracted me while walking on the treadmill. Familiar characters keep it light. The ficus on Rizzoli’s mom was refreshing. This is the type of book I. consider mind candy. It has been a while since I’ve read anything by Tess Gerritsen, but I’m thrilled that Netgalley and Ballantine Books afforded me the pleasure to read Listen To Me in advance of publication in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book!

I have been a fan of the Rizzoli & Isles books since the start. and this was my favorite since "The Mephisto Club"! Angela Rizzoli has been hanging out in the background of the books forever and to see her character come alive as a main character was such a fun change of pace!

As with all her books, Gerritsen uses a writing style that makes her them impossible to put down. From the minute I opened this book I couldn't put it down. The cases where interesting, our favorite characters continued to play their parts, the secondary characters were fleshed out enough to seem real and interesting. It was just so much fun to read.

The only thing that got me was the beginning had a couple of spots that were redundant, where Mrs. Rizzoli is saying something about her neighbors to the reader, and then says the exact same thing to Jane in the dialogue in nearly back-to-back pages.

As a complete side note, the description of Maura Isles also stuck out to me. In this book she's described as having a "dark, geometrically styled hair' and bright red lipstick. It's been I think about twenty years since I read 'The Surgeon' and the other early books in high school but I remember her being described very differently, as an elegant, refined, type person with her penchant for expensive wine and good art, and when Sasha Alexander was cast in the TV show, I don't remember thinking there was a disconnect. So the description in this book that conjured up more of an Abby from NCIS vibe was a little odd. I'm curious to go back to the original books and see if the character's changed or if I just had a different picture of Maura from the descriptions of her hobbies.

A fun, fast-paced story in the familiar Rizzoli & Isles series. I enjoyed the two mysteries told in parallel and from different POVs. I liked getting a new perspective from Jane’s mother. I can always rely on an entertaining story from Gerritsen’s R&I series.

Thank you NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, and Tess Gerritsen for the electronic ARC.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. Many thanks for that and the following is my honest opinion of the book.
In true Rizzoli & Isles style, Listen to Me will have the voices of these characters talking in your head. It moves along nicely, and builds for a good suspenseful reveal. I enjoy Tess Gerritsen's books because of the great writing. She's someone you can depend on when you're in a reading slump!

This is another great Rizzoli and Isles read. The plot involves the murder Jane and Frost are working on along with Angie Rizzoli’s antics in her neighborhood. The novel is easily readable and great fun in places. It is much more like the TV show than earlier novels were. All in all, fun, fast reading with a satisfactory conclusion. Thanks to Net Galley and Ballantine Books for an ARC for an honest review.

Rizzoli & Isles are back. This is a fast-paced book that I read in one day. This book focuses on murder and mother/daughter relationships. Jane’s mother, Angela, has taken it upon herself to police her neighborhood with mixed results. Jane’s murder investigation has her wondering if she is seeing connections that aren’t there.

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

A massively welcome return for Rizzoli and Isles in this new mystery.
My only negative is I would of loved the main focus to be a case which did not include in Angela Rizzoli. I feel I’m very much influenced by the bad casting of the actress in the Tv spin off. Aid enjoyed the show but it was too light hearted for a Tess Gerritsen.
I almost feel that this book was written for fans of the Tv show and not fans of the books.
The main story starts with the murder of a well loved nurse and Angela becoming too involved with the local neighbourhood watch.
Coming back to these characters was like a hot chocolate and an open fire, just pure comfort. I wouldn’t recommend for new readers of Tess Gerritsen as I think previous were far better. I will definitely pick up the next book just because aria love the characters.

If you're familiar with this series, you might be surprised by the change to the structure of the story. Typically, the stories are told mainly from either Jane's or Maura's perspective, sometimes alternating, but always in omniscient third person. This time we also get some first-person perspective from Angela, as well as some parts of the story from Amy's (character specific to this story) perspective (third person). I only mention it because it's such a break from form, but I guess Gerritsen wanted to change things up when revisiting this series after several years. I liked getting Angela's perspective on things, but Amy was less fleshed out for story reasons.

The stories, because there are two stories this time, are both interesting and parallel each other to an extent. However, I figured out the murder mystery storyline earlier than I would have liked to maintain the suspense. Still enjoyable for all the crime fiction fans out there.

Twists and turns that are more thrilling than a roller coaster ride.
Detective Jane Rizzoli and Pathologist Maura Isles are a team I absolutely love since first meeting them. They are currently working on a murder case of a nurse.
Great character development. The pace is smooth and intriguing. Angela is a character that definitely made this story. Each character added depth to the story. Did I mention a great storyline?
Thank you NetGalley for a digital copy to read and review without compensation. Tess Gerritsen has done it again!!!

This book held quite the intrigue and mystery. If love a good story that keeps you guessing, this is one to grab. It was as if one got to read multiple stories in one. Just when you think you got it all figured out, there’s a twist or curveball and it gets you thinking all over again. Plus the humor and characters make this one you could read again. This series is fantastic and one you can certainly binge.

Thanks to Net Galley for letting me read and review the ARC of this book!

I just want to start out by saying that this book can really hold its own as a stand-alone. You don’t need to read the first 12 books to really enjoy this story. How do I know? Because I’ve only read book 2 before diving right into this one. The thing I love about Tess Gerritsen’s writing is that she will give you the background needed to understand the current story you’re reading without too much unnecessary details about previous cases Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles have worked.
I also love how she takes a practical approach to investigating murders and such by showing the actual police working the cases instead of whoever the main character happens to be in other books, typically unqualified investigators who don’t bother to ask the police for help. I think it is so interesting how she portrays legitimate police work, even if it is dramatized for the entertainment value.
I also really enjoyed how this book switched between the different POVs of several characters: Jane, Maura, Angela, and Amy. It really helped to tell the story as it went by clarifying details picked up by other characters or finding new information relevant to solving the case at hand. Each character had a distinctive voice and was thoroughly enjoyable to read.
Overall this book is a win for me and I will continue to read Tess Gerritsen’s books. Both past and future ones!

As a big fan of Rizzoli & Isles, I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery in Listen to Me. Jane's mother proved to be quite a character.

Tess Gerritsen has an absolute genius for using words to create a living, breathing reality. Her characters walk and talk the way we readers know our neighbors do. I have to confess that I was angry about the resolution Tess Gerritsen presented at the end of Rizzoli & Isles: Listen to Me until I went back into the story to see all the clues that she'd laid out for readers clever enough to pay attention to them. Great mystery!

I received a free copy from NetGalley. I enjoy the Rizzoli and Isles series and also like the TV series based on the characters as well. I can't tell you how this would stand alone and I admit I often now picture the TV show characters when I read these characters. I enjoyed the this latest tale from the series.

I was so happy to be swept up again into the world of Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles and the gritty Boston streets. Tess Gerritsen is one of my most favorite authors and this series never lets me down.

In this installment, their are parallel mysteries going on, one of which is driven by Jane’s mother Angela. This story did not work as well for me and was a little distracting from the main mystery but it did play a role in the primary story line. Maura is also a more minor figure in this story and I really missed that great interaction and connection between them. The major story had a good twist- it did not surprise me as I could pick up on it right away- but was still entertaining.

Overall a very, very solid book. This author will remain an auto read for me and I am looking forward to the next installment of Rizzoli and Isles.

Thanks to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for this really enjoyable ARC.

Jane and Maura seem a bit off, Angela was annoying but I enjoyed the story even though I figured some of it out

Jane and Maura are two of my favorite fictional characters, and this latest installment did not disappoint. While Jane is busy with a car accident and murder, her mom, Angela, is trying to uncover the secrets her neighbors are keeping. This was a fast paced story that is full of surprises. I especially enjoyed the chapters written from Angela’s point of view.

Another great Rizzoli and Isles adventure!
