Another great Rizzoli &Isles book with a twisting turning plot. A young girl is injured in a hit and run accident. An ICU nurse is murdered in her home. Rizzoli must follow the clues as they unravel to try to solve the nurse's murder, while contending with the constant calls from her mother about suspicious things happening in her neighborhood. The book moves non-stop revealing more puzzling clues including another unsolved murder fifteen years prior. How do all the clues fit and what is happening in Rizzoli's Mom's life. Is Mom in danger? This is a thrilling book with multiple twists and surprises. The author has done a stunning job of unfolding the different plot pieces with perfect timing. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this!!!
I’ve read almost everything Tess Gerritsen has written. This book was very much like most of the Rizzoli and Isles series and was fairly formulaic. That being said, it’s the kind of book that I read when I am in a bit of a reading slump because it feels comforting and like I am a part of the story as far as knowing the characters and their traits.
The newest installment in the Rizzoli & Isles series gives us a chance to really get to know Jane's mom Angela. She been in the series for a while but you never really get her full story. She is quirky but enjoyable and it was a fun read for sure. This was not a typical Rizzoli & Isles story with alot of twist and turns along with trying to figure out the villain. Though I did enjoy and laughed throughout the story it was one of my big favorites in the series. It was great getting to read again about these ladies.
This latest entry into the Rizzoli & Isles series is a bit of a light palate cleanser.
While there is a murder or two, much of the book centers on Jane’s mom, Angela. Oh, I loved getting to know her. She’s funny, brave, and I wanted to give her a huge hug every time she felt ignored or misunderstood.
There are a couple of mysteries to be solved in the book. While none were particularly thrilling, they were definitely fun and I enjoyed trying to figure them out!
Fans of the series should be pleased with this one. Newer folks may find themselves a little confused as to some of the history here.
Overall a good read!

This was a fast read, but one that was disappointing based on my experience with the other books in this series. Angie’s dilemmas overshadowed the subplot of the homicide investigation and the exploration of so many different issues felt fragmented at times. I would have preferred more emphasis on Rizzoli (Jane) and Isles.
This is the 13th book in the Rizzoli and Isles series. This book did have a lot of humor as Janes mother Angela played a large part in this book. Angela is extremely interested in everything that goes on in her neighborhood and that does cause problems. A light mystery that fans of Gerritsen will enjoy
"Listen to me" is another hit in the latest addition to the Rizzoli & Isles series. Tess Gerritsen delivers another suspenseful tale that had me eagerly turning the pages and guessing until the very end.
Detective Rizzoli and Dr. Isles are at it again, this time they have the brutal murder of Sofia Suarez, a local nurse, to solve. Meanwhile Jane's mother Angela is spying on her new neighbors and sticking her nose in everyone's business. She believes there is something suspicious about her new neighbors and she is determined to find out what it is. I have to admit I laughed out loud at a specific scene while thinking to myself "well, what did you expect ?" Angela's nosiness was a bit comical.
This multi-layered story was a very engaging, entertaining and clever book that I highly recommend! I cannot wait for the next Rizzoli & Isles!
A huge thank you to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantyne and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the e-ARC of this book.
I'm a fan of the Rizzoli & Isles series and this installment didn't disappoint. For those who love Rizzoli's mother, Angela, they'll love her story too. All in all, it's been a long time since the last we've seen of this duo, and I was glad to have another!
Tess Gerritsen delivers another masterful tale that weaves together multiple stories and characters in a way that has you eager to keep turning the page. This was a fairly quick read, likely because Gerritsen keeps her readers eagerly trying to figure out how all the pieces are going to come together.
Listen to Me is the newest installment of the Rizzoli & Isles series, and while Dr. Maura Isles does make a few appearances, this book heavily focuses on Jane Rizzoli and her mother, Angela Rizzoli. Angela’s inner monologue felt repetitive at times but I enjoyed seeing storylines unfold through her eyes.
This was not the most action-packed Rizzoli & Isles novel, but I still enjoyed the story and seeing how Gerritsen drops tidbits of information throughout that come together like pieces of a puzzle is always a delight.
I look forward to the next installment!
Different writing style this time. A lot about Angela being a busybody in the neighborhood. Which ends up causing major problems not only for her but for Jane. Someone new has moved into the neighborhood. They didn't unload until after dark, and always kept their windows covered. another neighbor's child is missing. It's just all to much for Angela, who always knows what's going on in the neighborhood. Thanks netgalley
Oh boy was I excited to read this new Rizzoli and Isles book, and it did not disappoint me! I had really missed these characters so it was like a family reunion. The actual story was interesting and satisfying. I really enjoyed reading this book.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC opportunity.
A good check-in with one of my favorite series. I liked Jane's mom having a storyline. The mystery in this book was more believable than some of the recent books.
This book did not disappoint, it had great characters and a great story. I really enjoyed it , great writing! First book by this author but won’t be my last !
A true gauge of how hard it is to put down a book is whether my kindle leaves the bedroom with me as I usually just read before bedtime. If I am engrossed, I would read anywhere in the house.
":Listen to me" was a kindle everywhere-in-the-house book for me. It was not as dark as the previous title in the series and even had a bit of humour which I appreciated.
I liked that Rizolli's mother had a big part in this story. First rate writing as always from an author I've enjoyed for many decades. Can't wait to see what Tess Gerritsen will come up with next.
Full review to come on Goodreads and Amazon. Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for a review copy.
What a breath of fresh air this newest title from Tess Gerritsen brought to my bookshelf. Although it feels like its been a while since we checked in with Rizzoli and Isles, I was not disappointed. This book was accompanied by my having watched the series of the same name, and having a visual idea of what the characters looked and sounded like, and as the book was written chapter by chapter from different character perspectives, this reinforced the experience. A thrilling story, giving some previous minor characters more front time.
I want to thank NetGalley and this book’s publisher for letting me read and review this book.
Boston PD detective Angie Rizzoli and her partner Barry Frost find themselves in another murder investigation. As usual, they have to use clues, evidence, and her gut instinct to try and find the killer. Meanwhile, Rizzoli’s mother, Angela, gets caught up in a number of neighborhood activities, that put her in some precarious situations. ME Maura Isles provides some additional storylines, including playing a starring role in a doctor’s orchestra concert. Just when the whole storyline seems to wrap up, Rizzoli still has an uneasy feeling that there is still more to discover.
This was a very enjoyable and engaging book in the Tess Gerritsen series. All of her Rizzoli & Isles stories are well-written and a great read.
I’ve long been a fan of the Rizzoli and Isles television series so when I stumbled across this book I was excited to dive into it. This is my first in the series, and the first by this author. It definitely won’t be my last as I am now a fan of the book series! Can’t wait to start with book one and get caught up before book 14 comes out! If you love Rizzoli and Isles, if you love mysteries and thrillers, if you love to laugh and smile, this book and series is for you too!
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book.
Tess Gerritsen and the Rizzoli and Isles series never disappoint. This book took on an interesting perspective bringing in another strong female lead, Angela, Jane’s mother who was a less prominent character in previous books in the series. We see the storyline from the points of views of Amy, Jane, Maura and Angela and bring together the different plot pieces to create the full picture.
This book had me turning pages quickly to find the answers that the characters so desperately needed. One of the main reasons I come back to this series every time a new book is released is to reconnect with the characters I’ve come to know and love. I enjoyed the ending where all the pieces fell into place even if throughout reading I was having as much difficulty as Jane finding the connections with all the various elements. I was not expecting what the ending brought but was satisfied none the less as closure was given to myself and the main characters.
I received a free copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I've long enjoyed the Rizzoli and Isles series. This one wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't bad either. Not sure I liked jumping around the POV from Jane to her mother to the ME.
