Jane and Maura are back!!!!!! Man did I miss this duo!! I enjoyed that this book had several mysteries going on, which kept me entertained and trying to figure out stuff. I will say I figured out the why of the first mystery halfway thru but did not foresee the twist(s) at the end! My only complaint is that I wished there were more Jane and Maura together moments.

Love the Rizzoli and Isles books! (and the TV show too). Long time since the last book! So happy to have them back together again! Enjoyed the book, especially the characters! Having Angela tough and successful, was great. Having Jane putting her mystery together, even if it was obvious that Amy was the missing child! Still lots of twists and turns. Very hard to put this down and read it in two days. Highly recommend and please, please write more Rizzoli and Isles books!!!!

This is the thirteenth book in this popular series which began in 2001. It has been almost 5 years since the last installment and so I was looking forward to getting reacquainted with the personal/professional relationship between a smart, savvy detective and an intelligent, highly talented medical examiner. Unfortunately, this offering missed the mark for me.

There is the usual homicide to solve and this one is particularly challenging, involving seemingly disparate events and people. Jane Rizzoli and Barry Frost, detectives with the Boston PD, investigate the death of a nurse, brutally bludgeoned in her home. What appears to be a senseless murder leads them on a convoluted trail back to Maine with a previously unsolved case and the more recent stalking of a young woman. Jane is typically impatient, abrasive and highly competent in her role.

The story begins with a subplot involving Angela (Angie) Rizzoli, Jane’s mother. Angie has taken the axiom, “if you see something, say something,” to heart. Her frustration boils over when no one gives serious consideration to her concerns over events happening in her neighborhood. I had a real problem with this character. Perhaps the reason no one listens is not that she is a middle aged woman (a rant that goes on and on), but rather that her style and way of communication is off-putting. First, she acts as if Jane is her personal police force, demanding her to drop everything and attend to her complaints. Next, she seems to have much too much time on her hands – she monitors all of her neighbors’ activities and then interpreting these with suspicious overtones. Lastly, despite the fact that she is in a romantic relationship, she continually brings up her betrayal by her soon-to-be ex-husband, Jane’s father. Angie does gain some credibility at the end, but overall I found her to be annoying, a bit obnoxious and a gossip. I think part of the problem is that I remember this character as being more mature in the TV series than how she is portrayed in this book.

Maura Isles, the brilliant medical examiner with perfectionist tendencies (many justified by the depth and breadth of her knowledge and talents beyond the field of medicine), plays a minor role in this novel. I felt her thread was not given the time and attention it deserved. The revelation of her very human vulnerability was treated rather superficially.

Overall, this was a fast read, but one that was disappointing based on my experience with the other books in this series. Angie’s dilemmas overshadowed the subplot of the homicide investigation and the exploration of so many different issues felt fragmented at times. I would have preferred more emphasis on Rizzoli (Jane) and Isles.

My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Excellent return of Rizzoli and Isles. Moves right along with an ending I didn't see coming. Love the characters, especially the strong older women settle down by the fire and enjoy.

Always a delight to have a visit with Rizzoli and Isles, and as always, Gerritsen’s attention to detail and science shines through. The end had a nice twist, and the excitement was high. Totally enjoyable weekend read.

I waited patiently since book 12- I Know A Secret was released in 2017 for a new installment featuring Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles to be released and the 4+ year wait was so totally worth it!

Tess Gerritsen’s Rizzoli and Isles series has to be one of the best mystery/suspense/police procedural series ever written. Each time I read one of her books, I am fully immersed in the lives of Jane and Maura. Although Maura wasn’t really focused on in this book, we did get a POV and storyline featuring Angela, Jane’s firecracker of a mom, which was an excellent payoff especially since she is such an enigmatic character but previously always seemed to be dismissed by Jane as a nuisance.

The different POVs changed seamlessly as one expects in a Tess Gerritsen book and although it was easy to guess how this book was going to end, Gerritsen managed to add in a few surprises at the end to keep us on our toes will wrapping things up in a neat and tidy bow- well sort of. The ending makes me wonder if we will see some of these characters back in a new book in the future.

One 0f my favorite things about this author is that she has enough knowledge of so many aspects of a case from crime scene analysis, medical examination and police procedural that you become completely immersed in the story as if it’s real life playing out in front of you but doesn’t bog us down with the minutiae that can quickly make a good story become boring and drawn out.

I had to pace myself so I didn’t finish the book in one sitting which was difficult since I’m in Maine and we were stuck home during the blizzard and I had plenty of time to read but I wanted to savor this story. I was especially pleased when Jane and Barry headed to Waterville, Maine- my hometown- to investigate a murder at Colby College. I know Tess Gerritsen lives in Portland, Maine but since this series primarily takes place in Boston, it’s nice to read about my home state in her books.

Definitely 5 stars from me and I cannot wait for her next book, stand-alone or the next installment of this remarkable series.

Listen To Me was a fantastic read!! This book will definitely keep you entertained and want to see what happens next. Loved Angela’s character and her point of view on things in the neighborhood. I enjoyed reading this book!! I recommend you read this book. I received an ARC copy from Netgalley and Random House for my honest opinion.

Jane Rizzoli and her partner Barry Frost are called to a home where a well liked nurse has been murdered. Meanwhile, Amy, a college student, who may be being followed by a mysterious man has been a victim of a hit and run and Jane's mother, Angela, gets mixed up in something odd while engaged in her role as self appointed neighborhood watch.

What a treat! A new Rizzoli and Isles novel! I feared we would never see them again after a couple of strange offerings from this author over the past couple of years. I wasn't disappointed with this one. It was a good police procedural with several threads going on. I even thought Jane's mother, in a much bigger role than usual was entertaining. This was an enjoyable one day read.

I love the show Rizzoli and Isles, so I was really happy when I was chosen to read and review this book. This was a fast= flowing crime mystery that I really enjoyed. I liked comparing the book with the show, and I felt both mediums offered a good story. I also liked the way the book told the story through different viewpoints (Jane, Maura, Amy and Angela). Angela was one of the best characters. I liked her sense of humor and her determination. I highly recommend this story to all mystery lovers!

What a great read! From middle class Boston, to the backwoods of Vermont and the protected environment of exclusive universities, the author takes you once again on a roller coaster ride.. Engrossed in. a case that involves decades old murders, child kidnappings and disappearances Jane Rizzoli plunges headlong into a conundrum all eminanting from the powerful protective instincts of a mother's love.. Meanwhile, her own mother, Angela, has some adventures of her own, which bring to bear the protective instincts of a daughter.

I picked up this book and didn't put it down until it was done. Read it in 1 day.

Boston homicide detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles are newly plagued by what seems like a completely senseless murder. Sofia Suarez, a widow and nurse who was universally liked by her neighbors, lies bludgeoned to death in her own home. But anything can happen behind closed doors, and Sofia seemed to have plenty of secrets in her last days, making covert phone calls to traceless burner phones. When Jane finally makes a connection between Sofia and the victim of a hit-and-run from months earlier, the case only grows more blurry. What exactly was Sofia involved in? One thing is clear: The killer will do anything it takes to keep their secret safe.
Rizzoli and Isles are finally back and it was worth the wait. This story just seemed to pick up where the other one ended and I don't mean it's a sequel....it's more a case of solid continuity and writing style that left me feeling they had only been gone a short while. This time around also, Janes mother is getting herself in trouble following in her daughters investigative footsteps. I truly hope we don't have as long a wait until the next Rizzoli and Isles adventure. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced readers copy for review.

After a long hiatus, Rizzoli and Isles return with the cop and the medical examiner trying to understand the motivation behind the murder of a woman who seemed to be universally liked. Sofia was a nurse who was found beaten to death in her own home. But as Jane begins looking into Sofia’s life she uncovers a link between the dead woman and a recent hit and run. It seems there was more to Sofia than most people ever imagined. Meanwhile, Jane’s mother, Angela, begins to do a little sleuthing of her own when the disappearance of a teenager in her neighborhood coincides with the arrival of odd new neighbors who have just moved in. Angela is sure there’s something suspicious going on, and because Jane won’t listen to her, it looks like Angela will have to solve this mystery herself. Don’t base this series on the television series of the same name. The TV show had nothing in common with the books other than the characters names and occupations. The books are much better, much darker

I was given this book by NetGalley for an honest review -
Tess Gerritsen is an author i must read all of her books - they are always winners!
Sophia, a nurse is murdered-- Jane and her co-workers struggle to solve the murder - - - then a hit and run - - how do they connect?
Add in Jane's mom, Angela who is always watching out her windows - checking out the neighbours - a runaway teen, a new neighbour with blinds close, bars on the windows- -How does it all fit in? And what a shock it is! Another great read by a great author!

The terrific Tess Gerritsen has gifted us another riveting Rizzoli & Isles novel. The wait was worth it because Listen to Me is the proverbial page-turner we've come to expect from the author. It's wonderful having the gang back together again. Gerritsen's deft use of multiple narrators serves her well as the book juggles two separate mysteries. It works because Gerritsen remains a master of the genre. It's an engaging book. And, like the other books in the series, it's a quick read because you won't be able to put it down. Thank you to Random House, Ballantine Books, and NetGalley for the advanced reading copy. #RizzoliIslesListentoMe #NetGalley.

This latest installment of Rizzoli & Isles had me intrigued right from the start. I loved all the different POV’s but especially Angela, Janes Mother. Angela’s witty banter and tenacity kept the plot interesting. This book had a few subplots and twists.
The conclusion had me.on the edge of my seat. One of my favorite in this series so far!

Thank you SO much for this ARC! I am a huge fan of both Tess Gerritsen and the Rizzoli and Isles TV series.

I devoured this book in less than 24 hours. Loved having my favorite characters back. It was awesome to read primarily from Angela's point of view.

Another wonderful mystery (well, a few mysteries!) that will have you tagging along as if you are part of Boston PD. This case wasn't an easy one to solve but I enjoyed putting the pieces together.

I do wish Maura had more of. a part in this book, she is my favorite of the bunch.
