Another great installment in the Rizzoli & Isles series!
Tess Gerritsen has been one of my favorite authors every since discovering "The Surgeon" back in college. I am so thankful she continues to expand this series. However, I have missed the last couple books so this was a fabulous way to jump back in.
I really enjoyed that this book could be read as a stand alone. While the main characters are all present, you do not need the entire backstory to understand this novel. A great way for someone new to jump into the series.
The story mixes multiple POVs including one from Jane's mom! It was fun to see her personality in this book - although I do sympothize with how Jane feels about her. We also have multiple mysteries that intertwine and lead to a very unexpected ending.
At the end of the day - Tess can do no wrong in my eyes. So I will be grabbing a hard copy of this book once it is out to add to my collection.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House for the opportunity to read this book.
Do you have books that take you back? Back to a different time? For me those books are Rizzoli and Isles novels. They take me back to when I first started reading, when things were quieter and calmer. I want to extend my thanks and appreciation to @netgally and the publisher for my digital ARC copy of this book out July 5th!
Goodreads: Detective Jane Rizzoli and Forensic Pathologist Maura Isles are investigating the gruesome murder of a nurse, whilst also protecting a young student from a stalker. But immersed in their day jobs, will they lose sigh of something sinister happening much closer to home?
This book is another great addition to the Rizzoli and Isles lineup. I always look forward to these novels and can’t wait to pick them up and this one was just as fabulous as the rest. I gave this one 4/5 stars.
I love these characters so much. I am a huge fan of the TV series, but this was my first time reading any of the books. For me, I think that may have ruined my experience with this book because expectations and the reality of the characters in the story were very different. I thought it started out okay, but found it a bit slow moving and nothing was really drawing me back to find out what was going on across the street. I think truly it’s a fine story, but my expectations of finding a comfort in the characters I knew and loved in the show didn’t match the book. That’s okay, but I wanted a bit more intrigue and faster pace. It ended up a DNF for me. I really wanted to love it, but found it just okay. The characters are so great, I really think this was a result of me expecting the TV series and just not getting it. Thank you for the opportunity to try it out and thanks to the author for creating such a fabulous cast of characters.
This book is a great addition to a great series. 13 books in and it is still exciting. Of course Maura and Jane are great characters, but I really enjoyed Angela and her crew of neighbors in this book. There are the twists and turns that we have come to expect from Rizzoli and Isles, along with some comic relief. I can’t wait for the next case.
I received an ARC from Netgally in exchange for my honest review.
A great installment to the series and a satisfying read. We get to visit our favorite characters on a new storyline and investigate with them.
Many thanks to Random House and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is only my second Rizzoli and Isles novel, and it makes me want to go back and read all the rest! Tess Gerritsen knows about to piece together a great story. From the beginning it seems like the storyline is disjointed and couldn't possibly be connect, but by the end, everything comes together! I enjoyed this! Can't wait for more!
First book in this long running series that I have read, easy to read and easy to follow. A detective, her partner, her meddlesome mother and the ME solve a variety of cases, funny at times, an enjoyable light read
I recently finished watching the 7 seasons of Rizzoli & Isles. So I was super excited to get an advance copy of Rizzoli & Isles: Listen to Me by Tess Gerritsen. This was a great book. I was able to picture the characters so vividly in my head. The story is told from various character perspectives, and it really worked. I could hear Angela in my head (the Lorraine Bracco character from the TV series). It was so much fun to read and picture each character. The story also shows how tedious police work can be and the lack of helpful information from victims or witnesses.
The mystery was very good. I did not see the ending coming. I cannot wait to read more in this series. Five out of five stars!
I would recommend this series, this author, and watch the TV series if you get a chance!

I love the Rizzoli & Isles series and all of the characters. This book is a great continuation. Jane, Maura, Frost, and Angela pick up where we last saw them. Gerritson entertains us with their personal lives and the details of both police procedurals and autopsies.
This book has an intertwined string of characters and situations that kept me riveted. A great story, a satisfactory conclusion, and a few laughs asking the way. I can't wait for the next installment.
Listen to your mother! This entry in the Rizzoli and Iles series focuses on Angela, Rizzoli's delightful mother. I love Angela and her neighborhood crew. When a murder of a nurse who has no apparent enemies takes place Jane is on the case. Meanwhile, strange, at least according to Angela, things are happening in the house across the street. HMMMMMM? This was a fun and very enjoyable read.
This is a review of an eGalley provided by NetGalley.
It was worth the wait! Book 13 is yet another fantastic addition to the series. If you are a fan of the Rizzoli & Isles series, do not hesitate to get a copy. (Thanks to NetGalley for the advance read.)
4 shining stars for a welcome addition to the Rizzoli & Isles series. There are a series of events in the beginning which don't connect. But they do tie together in the end. Jane Rizzoli, Homicide detective with the Boston PD is called to the scene of a brutal murder. Sofia Suarez was a nurse who was liked by everyone who knew her.
Another thread involves Angela Rizzoli, Jane's mother, concerned about mysterious things happening on her street, The last thread involves Amy Antrim, and a mysterious man who seems to be stalking her. How these threads tie together makes for an absorbing mystery, which Jane solves with the help of Maura Isles, Medical Examiner for Boston PD, Jane's partner, Barry Frost, and of course, Jane's mother, Angela.
There are many twists and turns in this mystery, and although I had suspicions as to who the killer was, I was not certain until the end. I recommend this book to Rizzoli fans and mystery fans in general. Both my wife and I enjoy this series. She also rates it 4 stars.
One quote: Angela Rizzoli "But tonight everything seems different, as if I've crossed into some parallel world and I'm now looking at the evil twin of my old neighborhood. A neighborhood where every house, every family , hides a secret."
#RizzoliIslesListentoMe #NetGalley. I read this book in 2 days. It is hard to put down.
Thanks to Ballantine Books for sending me this eARC through NetGalley.

for allowing me to read and review this one! This is the first Tess Gerritsen I’ve read and I enjoyed it! Even though it’s the thirteenth in the series , I found it worked fine without having read any of the earlier books.
Detective Rizzoli and forensic pathologist Isles are investigating the murder of a nurse , someone well liked by neighbors and friends , with no suspects. I never guessed any of the unexpected twists! I recommend this one to all who love the mystery genre.
Listen to Me is the latest Rizzoli & Isles book by Tess Gerritsen. I enjoyed the mysteries in this book and also had more than a few chuckles at the comic relief. This was an easy to read story that kept my interest. I want to thank NetGalley and Ballantine Books for an early copy to review.

Synopsis: Detective Jane Rizzoli and Forensic Pathologist Maura Isles are investigating the gruesome murder of a nurse, whilst also protecting a young student from a stalker. But immersed in their day jobs, will they lose sight of something sinister happening much closer to home?
My Thoughts: The chapters are short, which I always love. The story is narrated by Jane, Amy and Maura, from their POV. Even this book is part of a series, it can absolutely be read as a stand alone, it provides enough details to keep you up to date. The author did an amazing job at continuing to build these characters from previous novels in the series, they are complex, creative, and just work. The plot is even more complex playing 3 different scenarios but at the end it just works perfectly together. I love these characters and just adored this book. This is my first I have read in this series and will be going back to read the others. This was a great read that I enjoyed. Go preorder your copy before it is released in 6 weeks.
I received an ARC of this book from Random House via Netgalley in exchange for my honest feedback. So great to see Rizzoli & Isles again! I used to be an avid reader of this series, but I think I have fallen behind, so I was excited to see this novel available. I loved the alternating viewpoints, especially Angela! I could 100% picture and hear this older Italian American nosy neighbor. This book was also a fantastic use of seemingly unrelated storylines all connecting. The portion about Amy Antrim vs. the murder of Sofia Suarez vs. the murdered professor - I was truly wondering how it would all come together. I thought I had one portion figured out but was only partially right. I am always pleased when twists surprise me!
It was an amazing and fun read. Angela was always getting herself into trouble, Jane always tries to stop her mother's curiousity but like that is ever going to work. The rest of my review is at the link below.
Tess Gerritsen's Listen to Me (Ballantine Books 2022), thirteenth in the Rizzoli & Isles series, sticks closely to what has made the fans of this series (like me) love each new installment. From Page 1, this is a confusing case for Boston PD Detective Jane Rizzoli and her good friend, Boston Medical Examiner Maura Isles, A fifty-something nurse and neighbor of Rizzoli's mother Angela is killed and it falls to Rizzoli to figure out what happened. Because the victim is Jane's mother Angela's neighbor, Angela--being a busybody--takes it upon herself to become the neighborhood watch and spy on strange events occurring in her community. She quickly finds one right across the street from her own house, but when she share her insights, her daughter Jane is less convinced and the across-the-street neighbor annoyed. Seemingly unrelated (but we Detective mystery aficionados knew better), a college student is the victim of a hit and run, almost killed, but survives. As only Gerritsen can do, all of these disparate plot lines come together in a clever, twisted plot that keeps readers guessing.
Tess is a good writer. Her character development is always spot on. The pacing is perfect and the character development is good though I'm so familiar with the series' folks, I may be biased. I do have two complaints not serious enough to merit a star deduction: 1) Each chapter is told from the perspective of one of the main characters--Amy (the girl involved in the hit and run), Jane Rizzoli, Maura, or her mother Angela. IMHO, I would prefer to stick with the series namesakes, Rizzoli and Isles. 2) Some chapters were in present tense, some past. Why I have no idea. If you read this, let me know your thoughts on that.
Overall, a good and satisfying read, perfect for lovers of detective stories that are light-hearted and a tad humorous.
Rizzoli and Isles: Listen to me by Tess Gerritsen carries on the story of the two women but with the added delight of more of Angela Rizzoli. The progression of all their lives makes for a very enjoyable read.
After five long years, the team of Rizzoli & Isles are back! Listen to Me is the thirteenth novel in the Rizzoli & Isles series, and it is such a welcome comeback. Though Listen to Me is part of a series, it is possible to read it as a standalone.
Detective Jane Rizzoli along with Forensic Pathologist, Maura Isles are tasked with investigating the burtal murder of RN, Sofia Suarez. With very little clues to go by, except a stolen laptop and phone, Detective Rizzoli must piece together the various forensic evidence to solve the murder mystery.
The characters remain unchanged from prior novels. The exception is the addition of Jane’s mom, Angela, who adds an interesting dimension to the narrative. I didn’t particularly care for the Angela Rizzoli sideshow at first. But after a few Angela chapters, I took a liking to Angela’s busybody of the neighborhod antics. Angela added some much needed color to an otherwise sterile environment.
The plot is somewhat complex in that there are at least three different storylines involving a murder, an abduction, and a stalker. But they all connect very nicely at the end for a satisfying finale.
Listen to Me has everything that I love about the Rizzoli & Isles series. And I’m hoping that Gerritsen will continue to write more about Jane, Maura, and Angela. Five stars.
I received a digital ARC from Ballantine Books. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.
