This book was cute and I enjoyed it! It took me a while to get into at first, but once I did, I was invested in the characters and the story. Thanks for the ARC!
Rachel Lynn Solomon is just one of my favorite romance authors. There is just something about her writing that makes my soul happy. ‘i could wake up on the same day a thousand times, and every single one would be different because of you. every single one would be life-changing. because of you.’ This quote just is so cute, and a perfect example of the joy that can be found within the pages of this book. I think that this book is a perfect book when you want something light and sweet, but also when you want to believe in love again. Overall I enjoyed immensely.
Rachel Lynn Solomon will forever by at the top of my favorite authors list! Her latest YA release, See You Yesterday, has her signature writing style with funny, realistic characters. But this one has a twist- a time loop traps the two main characters and they have to work together to try and get out. It was such a fun adventure story that let the characters explore getting to know each other in a way that Solomon hasn't done before. This is just a sweet, quirky, read that I can't wait to read all over again!
This was so cute. I think it took me so long to get to it because I was intimidated by the "groundhog day" aspect of this story. In the way that it also has a time loop. I was also nervous because this book is classified as YA, to be honest, it read more like a new adult. AND I LOVED IT! I read this in less than 24 hours with work and sleep squeezed in there somewhere. Barrette is such a relatable main character I loved being in her head, I didn't love Miles at first but I came around to him.
With quotes like ‘i could wake up on the same day a thousand times, and every single one would be different because of you. every single one would be life-changing. because of you" how could I not fall in love with this book!? HIGHLY RECCOMEND
It’s no secret that I love Rachel’s books with my whole heart, and SYY is one more example of why.

Something I often grapple with is the “both/and,” of life. See You Yesterday is a sweet and hilarious reminder of the both/and, wrapped in a pretty pink bow and given with a hug. Barrett and Miles’ journey reminds us that we can simultaneously be vulnerable and bold, alone and together, joyful and hurting. AND we can grow and evolve while - seemingly - everything else remains the same.
Rachel also weaves in authentic Jewish representation, sex positivity, and a ball pit scene that’s truly #lifegoals.
I’m not being dramatic when I say that I was obsessed with every. sentence. of this book.
I am *certain* (no “both/and” conflicts in this context!) you’ll adore See You Yesterday. Enjoy the ride and the hug.
Thank you times infinity @simonteen and @rlynn_solomon for the perfect ARC of See You Yesterday! I’m grateful to be a forever fan. Can’t wait to get my pre-order (and swag!!) from @thirdplacebooks!!
I think the thing storyline that saved this was the friendship between her and her roommate. I hated the romance aspect of this story and I really did not sense any chemistry whatsoever between the leads. This is extremely disappointing as Today Tonight Tomorrow was incredibly well done and one of the best YA novels I’ve read in many years.
The supernatural aspect of it and the loop timeline has been done to death and honestly wasn’t all that well done here and honestly it grew incredibly tiresome as the novel wore on. I ended up finding myself wishing and hoping that this book was much shorter than it actually was with how boring the repetition got.
I’m hoping this is just a fluke because otherwise I’ve enjoyed this author tremendously, but I fear this trope and this novel just wasn’t for me.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC for a review.
Would rate 3.5 stars. The beginning of the book was slow and I felt like I was in a time loop getting frustrated. However the second half picked up and showed the character growth and ended with a bit of a twist.
This book was so cute!
I really loved this concept of Groundhog day in a college setting! It lowkey made me nostalgic for school (minus the exams). Both Barret and Miles were fantastic characters (yay for a plus size lead) and I loved their chemistry. They both undergo so much character development and my heart broke for both of them. I was so invested in the science of this time loop and I wish I had a little more explanation but honestly Rachel Lynn Solomon can do no wrong with rivals to lovers. We stan.
This book is great! Would definitely recommend. Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
I don’t think time hop books are for me but I couldn’t resist reading Rachel’s. She made it as interesting as a repeating day could be. I would recommend d her other YA books over this one.
"You're challenging and frustrating and fascinating all at once, and hilarious in this unique way that keeps me on my toes. Making you laugh feels like winning the lottery. When you laugh at something I've said--even if you're laughing at me--there's no feeling quite like it."
I wore out my highlighter on this book. Oh my gosh. See You Yesterday is a really fun read that has so many laugh-out-loud scenes, scenes that make you go "awwwww", and heart-clenching, rage-inducing scenes all tied together into one big, fat, gorgeous, pink book. I took a long time to get through this one, but that's only because I never wanted it to end.
Barrett is my spirit animal. Actually, no, it's more than that. I am Barrett. Maybe that's why I liked this book so much; because I'm literally the main character in almost every aspect of her personality. The way she uses sarcasm and humor as a deflective, defense mechanism...wow, I didn't need to be called out like that. But she had me cackling at her comebacks and thoughts. My husband thought I was a lunatic.
"I really am truly gone if the sight of Miles engaging the parking brake is hot."
And Miles. Oh my word. What a cute little person he is! His mild manner, sticky-sweet personality, and guarded disposition was the PERFECT match for Barrett's boisterous, spunky, and fun way of taking on life. They meshed so well together and I am 100% here for them as a couple. Plus, Miles reminded me of my husband so that helped sell their relationship for me too...
"Miles in a museum is like a kid in a candy shop. No--like a kid with their own credit card and no spending limit in a candy shop that also sells puppies and video games and Baby Yoda merch."
As for the storyline and the resolution, Barrett and Miles made me not care about the science of everything, so it didn't bother me at all that the story was a little cheesy at the end. I liked the little side plots and achievements sprinkled throughout their adventure. They grew as characters, as people, and there were a lot of really good takeaways like reconciling with past trauma, learning to move on without revenge, embracing the moment to be daring but also being okay with the quiet and the slowness of "now", and knowing that the future is scary but it's a whole lot easier when you process those feelings with the people who love you. Also, Barrett's mom is freaking Wonder Woman, she finished her college degree with a baby! *salutes* I love powerful moms in books, and Barrett's relationship with her mom was so, so refreshing.
Overall, Barrett and Miles might just be one of my favorite couples and this is definitely going to be a top book of the year for me.
Content warnings: sexual trauma | lots of cursing | mild spice (one on-page scene) | LGBTQ+ characters | many sexual jokes/conversations
I received this book from the author/publisher. All comments and opinions are entirely my own and this review is voluntary.
Who has two thumbs and doesn’t read book descriptions? That’s right, me. This book was recommended to me by a close Booksta friend, and I’ve loved RLS’s past reads so I never read anything else about it. I wasn’t expecting a Groundhog Day story! I guess I should have known from the title, now that I think about it…
Unsurprisingly, I loved it. It was just so fun to read. I loved both bubbly, unfiltered Barrett and grumpy, quiet Miles. They were the perfect pair of opposites, and their banter was unmatched. Their relationship was so sweet and wholesome that the reader just can’t help but root for them.
It takes a lot of skill to keep a time loop from getting too repetitive (while still conveying the characters’ own frustration). RLS did an amazing job of keeping it interesting, especially through Barrett’s fun little escapades. I adored the scenes where they stopped trying to break the curse and just made the best of their situation.
I can’t wait for Rachel’s next book! She certainly has become an auto-buy author for me.
I’m not usually a huge fan of time travel, but this closed loop multiverse made SO much sense to me! I love the concept, and love the story. The characters are relatable (flaws and all!), and I love how they managed to keep (and grow) their faith despite repeating the same day over and over and over again.
This just might be the best book I've read in a while! I enjoy stories with a little bit of magic (or science) that involve a repeating day, time travel, or other fun things. This made this book, so unique, quirky, interesting, engaging, and I couldn't put it down. It's not your typical love story. It's so much more than that! I know a book is really good for me when I can't stop telling my partner about everything that's happening in it. So that's what this book was. I highly recommend it!
“I could wake up on the same day a thousand times, and every single one would be different because of you. Every single one would be life-changing. Because of you.”
I love me a Groundhog's Day story and this might be the sweetest and quirkiest one I've ever read. Even the physics talk worked for me! If you're looking to be charmed by a YA romcom with relatable characters (hell yes to a plus-sized heroine and her big-eared love interest!), this is the book for you.
Thanks to Simon & Schuster YR for the copy to review.
See You Yesterday grabbed onto me and didn't let go. Over 400 pages, it felt like half that, it read so quickly and was so much fun. I loved the characters, I loved the vibes, I loved the romance. It made me feel 18 again in all the best ways (okay, and in some of the not so great ways too).
That being said, the plot is a bit flimsy at times. Some of it doesn't hold up perfectly well if you examine it too closely, but honestly, it's so much fun that it was easy to let things slide. Rachel Lynn Solomon has hit her stride in YA and I can't wait to read whatever comes next.
Thank you to to NetGalley and Simon Schuster Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book. Rachel Lynn Solomon is an auto-buy author for me. She somehow packs romcoms with so much more than romance and comedy. I loved the groundhogs day premise and was immediately sucked into the book.
The characters and Groundhog Day premise are great, but it started to drag about halfway through this very long novel. Also check the content warnings before picking this one up. There’s a lot.
See You Yesterday by Rachel Lynn Solomon was a delightful contemporary romance with a twist on Groundhog Day (4.5/5). I went into this novel without reading the blurb, which is unlikely for me, but it was the best decision. As someone who is Jewish and loves physics, this book just spoke to my heart. It was wonderful to see myself in these pages and Solomon truly brings Barrett and Miles alive with her writing. The growth from high school to college was also evident in all of the characters and something that we don't often get to see in books. Typically it's either all during high school, or all during college, but See You Yesterday bridged the gap and gave life to the painful transition that many of us go through when leaving our high school bullies behind.
Overall, See You Yesterday was an adorable, for the inner science nerd, and just joyful in otherwise dark times.
Thank you to netgalley for providing an e-galley for review. See You Yesterday is a romance that unfolds over the course of one day that takes place over and over again, a la Ground Hog Day. This is done well because only the first few seconds are redone and not word for word (Thank you Rachel Lynn Solomon), Miles and Barrett try to get out of this loop in various different ways, and slowly fall in love with each other. This was an exceptionally cute, nerd love, big girl love romcom and I am here for it.
